    Fantastic Steve - can’t wait to be on track with our ‘79 GT although unfortunately we’ve got a lot more welding to do first!!! Yours looks brilliant and the Weber videos are invaluable.

    Steve, Really enjoyed the video and top info on setting up the MGBGT, Hopefully I will have time soon to get my Track Mini out after watching you stretching the legs
    on your car there just seems to be too much going on atm to put some time in to racing. 🤔Cheers Dave

    It is wonderful to watch your videos. Your dialog address problems and solutions though direct demonstration of proper tool use, fabrication and terminology.

    I think one of the rear brake shoe return springs might have been fitted the wrong way round - the spring with two coiled sections with a plain part in between, should have the long tail part at the rear (it is to stop the handbrake mechanism rattling, if you had the handbrake fitted) and the central straight part between the coils should be offset downwards to give more clearance to the bearing hub. It was the wrong way round when you dismantled it, so an easy mistake to make.
    Apart from that, an excellent video, showing just how much work it is keeping an old race car running at its best.

      Thanks for the comments, and yes if it was a normal install you are 100% correct, here it does not matter as their is no manual lever or brake . Points taken TXS

    Can we get a video on the air horns for the carb, I'm really interested in how the length and size effects the usable powerband. Thanks!

    There is an old trick worth mentioning for an increase in power when racing. I heard about this in relation to racing minis in the 1970s. A switch would be installed in the alternator exciter cct to stop charging during racing but enable charging during warm up, form up and cool down lap. The alternator would not be a "drag" on the engine when racing, and still be available when peak power is not needed.

    • @D3Sshooter
      @D3Sshooter  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes , that why sometimes you don't have an alternator but a small gel battery , just for the ignition... starting is an external aid.... Using a switch does work as well to some extend but can blow the electronics in the alternator.

    I am amazed how easy you make look working on a MGB I´m really impressed about your level of knowledge. I upgraded my MGB GT 1974 to a weber and wonder what system do you recommend for crankcase ventilation, should i use a PCV valve from crankcase pipe to intake manifold as 1964-1967 or a complete system as 70´s or just a expansion tank with a filter? In advance Thank you for your help

    • @D3Sshooter
      @D3Sshooter  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      TXS for the comments, I recommend a spill-tank with filter. If that is allowed by legislation where you live

    Do you find the wire mesh screens on the intakes rob power? I always heard they were bad but have no practical experience. On my vintage cars I have nothing so I can't really comment!
