I’m an Ozzie who first drove an MGB in ‘63 aged 18 and this is an excellent example of re-engineering a classic car with a vision and along the way Jim has adapted, adopted, fabricated parts, designed and made tools to complete that next process using technology of today but maintaining the simplicity of the original car.
He is a delicate balance of those that have vision of the future, think outside the box, challenging situations are met head on, despair is not a word or feeling in his mind, he’s an engineer, toolmaker, craftsman and inventor.
I’m also one who will make something when time is not a factor, even though I could go and buy it “off the shelf” and I truly admire the skills of this remarkable man.
Have fun driving your one of a kind car Jim and you have my highest respect 👍👍👌👌

Watched pretty much all of your episodes Nicole, and what I realize is that as much as you are finding these awesome pieces of ingenuity, it is actually the discovery of the amazing guys that created them, that deserves a special acknowledgement. Your show is a time capsule to an era when America was full of these madmen with a sense of humor and the “can do spirit”…which made the country so great. The show is an mixture of Spirit of St Louis…meets Carol Shelby…meets the mad professor from “Back to the Future”…
There is an endless repository of creations in our 50 states…inevitably also on the water, underneath it or up in the air. A lot of the creative spirit in America may have grey hair these days..but it still has swagger and a quiet determination that has always been the hallmark of this country. Thanks for bringing them to us while endowing all the episodes with your bouncy, boundless enthusiasm for this “stay crazy” crowd.

I cannot think of any genuine MG enthusiast who could be mad at what Jim has done to an MGB. Exceptional talent, vision and skill. Top class toolmaker and designer too.
In my own way on a far lower level, after my own "creation" or breathing life into an MG someone has given up on, although now I've lost count of the times, I shall never tire of the joyous moment when you turn the key or press the button and that dead engine bursts into life.
All for the love of it. Clearly Jim experiences that in spades be it his tool making or MGB creation. .

People been sticking small block V8s in MGs for decades. In fact the factory began the trend in 1973 with the MGB GT V8 as far as I know. When a car gets this heavily modified though, it really becomes something else altogether. I love it, but I’m not sure it’s an MG anymore. I think the owner/engineer is right in labelling it a ‘GM ‘rather than an ‘MG’. Coincidentally, the original MG factory V8 was a GM Buick designed engine that the Brits bought the manufacturing rights of from GM.

The British design & engineering that went into creating the MG has certainly been adhered to by this man's vision of what he wanted not forgetting his immense talent, a true hand made gem of a car built by a man with an eye for detail.
    I just love the thing❤

Too wide for old English roads and streets, especially in 1968. And for those homes that have a garage, this would never fit.

Being from the UK, as a man in his later years, I remember the sound of MGBs. Don't know if it's by design or accident, but I'm sure I can hear some MG sound there? Amazing job!

What a great story! The craftsmanship is simply over the top and the engineering is extremely impressive, but the whole time I was watching it and listening to it, all I could think about was what it would do on track. Thanks Nicole for another fantastic production and for sharing a super cool addition to the custom/hot rod car community. Great job!

Watching from England here. I love it!
He's used his incredible skills to produce an outstanding looking car.
And it's not sacrilegious or anything. Over here, MGBs are fairly common so it's not like it was a super rare car to start with.

Some of the nicest, best built, and tastefully designed vehicles; are handbuilt in craftsmans' garages. Although I enjoy watching, and appreciate the work produced by those high end shops, there's just something gratifying about 'that guy down the street', building a one off vehicle. Well done!

The Jim Stabe's fabrication abilities and skills make me bananas! He is of an another league! If this car was introduced by Foose I would think "Yeah, another incredible creation by the masters of custom cars"...but made by one big man in his small garage....it's stunning achievement out of this world!
When BMW tried make such car they had billion budget and ended up with Z8 people didn't like very much....because it was isolated...not destilated extract of driving fun.....Corps make cars with accountants...enthusiasts make cars with soul...

I looked at the project as a learning experience. That it took 17 years to complete was due in part to the time it took to learn the skills I needed to get where I wanted to be as a fabricator. I'm still not there yet because I still try to learn something new every day. Thank you for your comparison with Chip Foose but I think that might be a stretch.

My dad had six or seven MGBGTs when I was growing up. I learned to drive one when I was 11 or 12, and spent countless hours tearing them apart and putting them back together. I wonder who would be “pissed off” by this car. I’m not. It’s badass, and Jim is awesome!
