Plot twist: the emperor just wanted to congratulate Felix again for facing down that one wyvern-riding orc warboss in the 4th edition Empire army book. After all, Karl himself described it as "the bravest thing he'd ever seen". Yes I know that bit's no longer canon because it has Snorri dying to trolls shut up.
I read that story. It’s never explicitly said that the dwarf that was killed was Snorri, they never ever said what Gotrek was carving into the rock. Everyone just assumes it since he says that trolls sat on someone and we don’t see Snorri. Personally I like to think it was for another slayers that were with them. From what I remember the only time they were actually confronted due to the tax riots is when Felix let it slip that they were wanted in front of a bunch of mercenaries. The mercenaries took one look at Gotrek and said “Nah, I choose life”.
Fun fact there actually were window tax laws irl in parts of Europe in the the 17th through 19th centuries which is why a lot of houses would have bricked up window space. After they were all repealed by the 20th century a lot of houses removed the bricks and re-glazed the windows.

Yep pretty much how the I pictured it, I use the mods that add the Imperial Foot so when I do this battle everything in Karl's Army is Reiksguard except the artillery... Gotta imagine Felix is freaking right out 😂
It's true that Gotrek beat up quite a few Reiksguard. And the window tax was not Reikland's best move but I don't know if it was Franz himself that put it into effect. Great lore video lol
“Aye. The manling thought it clever to put his case to the Emperor with petitions and protest marches.” - Gotrek Gurnison. Trollslayer: Geheimnisnacht. It would make sense for Franz to pass the tax, but either way he was the one who came down hard on protestors.
@@chill-lady-brook Well the whole thing about the Empire is that it was in that transition state between feudalism and the Enlightenment. It's internal politics were a mess, with independent Burghers deciding how to tax, how to rule, how to farm, etc. There was no absolute authority or agreed upon ways to do anything. Part of what made Franz the greatest Statesman in the history of the Old World wasn't just his foreign policy of coalition building - it was also his domestic policy of supporting education, rewriting laws, etc. I doubt he specifically said 'go break everyone's windows so I can tax them more'
According to MUCH later lore, Karl Franz doesn't manage the day to day of his city, being busy with other things. It's actually the Kommissions that handle this sort of thing - Karl probably didn't even learn of the protest march until after it had happened.. Also, Reiksguard are nasty gits. Also also, Altdorf is such a hotbed of anarchist and political radicalism that Chaos cults trying to create fronts are struggling to recruit members because they can't come up with anything that isn't already a thing.
@@Arbiterjimtrollslayer says it was the “Altdorf militia” who went around “knocking holes in poor folks hovels.” They’d probably answer to Franz right?
@@chill-lady-brook Officially? Absolutely. But they'd also answer to probably ten to twenty people down the chain of command as well. Franz is at the top but a lot of people probably also 'speak with his authority' as well

"Cheese it! The Fuzz!"
I fought battle this once, gotric died and Felix ran by the time my army reached them.
Imagine getting blue-balled by a militant version of the IRS
That quest tho... Gotrek certainly wants to die there...
Nothing happened in Altdord in 2502
Fun fact: window tax was a real thing at one point
Karl went full Valjean on them
It's true that Gotrek beat up quite a few Reiksguard.
Franz is at the top but a lot of people probably also 'speak with his authority' as well
I knew Gotrek and Felix were based but I didn't think they'd be _that_ based
jokes aside, i tried to save them with thorgrim... i can't do it... somebody help
people who dont want to tax are more important than demons
Fr! Like bruh I'm a dwarf gun line why TF are you running away when I can't do anything to help?!?!
100% lore accurate as always
Those Slaaneshi...uh...dudes? gonna take a line from Heskit: "what the Fuck-shit is going on-on?!?!?!?"
Man, and all because Felix didnt wanna upgrade his windows system
Can you make something about Tamur-chan and Happeedemius, pretty please? 👉👈 Love your videos, Tariff, never stop. ❤
In my campaign they ran away from me and right into the enemy even when they were on low health. If I did not have a jade wizard I never would have won
Daemons:.............What the fuck just happened?
I understood the reference even before I played video.
Is a win-win for cults of slaanesh. They get to see the drama unfold.
lol this is a lore we all love. Btw. the windows tax was all true.
Great as always Tarrif
But may I ask you to create a video about how the Brettonnians are looking backward from the empire leaders' perspective
You know how the empire looks at the Brettonnians when they can field the most advanced MBTs and ATACM missile launchers for their armies and they can use all lores of magic while the Brettonnians are 5-6 centuries behind
I wanna see Luen getting mocked by the elector counts and getting angry for it
Maybe they start to get steam-powered Grail Reliques🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Maybe they even contacting Malakai to come and build a spirit of the lady for them
because of you i started reading trollslayer.
Felix's paranoia be like
All this time, Felix was a french gauchiasse, so beautiful
