5:15 We already have boom booms that boom on impact. The point of Castanas is to be satchel charges, C4. A more tactical tool for a less powercrept age. If they exploded on impact, you wouldn't be able to, say: Booby trap an Interception Node, go somewhere else, keep an eye on your hud, see Node getting captured, swap to Castanas and detonate. Node no longer being capped, or at least safe for 3 more seconds, all done from anywhere on the map. Despite what Battlefield C4 montages from ye olde days might try to tell you, these are not meant to be a primary weapon.

You know what is a shame? That explosive throwing weapons can't damage crewship reactors... Like how you would certainly feel hella cool if you would put a bunch of "C4 charges" on a crewship reactor. Leave the ship, enter your ship and then detonate them and watch the crewship explode. But they don't damage the reactor at all. Like I also tried throwing them and immediately blowing them up but nope literally no damage... However this was around launch of Railjack so they might have changed this, I haven't tried ever since.
I just wanna say, I remember when you posted a video a good while ago saying how you felt like you needed to work on your "identity" as a content creator, something that sets you apart from the rest. This kind of funny, pseudo-play as you go style is really great, and easily one of the most entertaining styles I've seen from a Warframe content creator in a good while. Please, keep up the great work, and really keep at it with the comedy side of things. Also, give Harold a headpat for me, because he's a good boy.
This. I need more videos like this. I love seeing you take a weapon no one considers good into high end content for the purpose of making them eat their words xD
Back in ye olden days, the sancti variant of these used to be a favorite of mine. Especially when combined with Trinity for link shenanigans when you could use that to redirect self damage and nuke enemies that way. At this point, they really just need a removal of the projectile cap and a better ammo economy to feel good again as a funny little thing to set up somewhere like say an interception console, or a choke point. Not the best, but definitely not worthless.
I apreciate the efforts of you building up this weapon and to show how to mod with purpose instead of brains off cookie cutter approach. Espescialy many old or low MR weapons just have a bad rep, since most tenno when they are at the appropriate Mastery to use them, lack the mod capasity or even the mods in the firstplace and blast past them in the, sadly often encouraged, Mastery fodder mentality.
Absolutely adore these types of weapons, the big problem I have is that they're clearly stated to be meant to stick to enemies and are also made for stealth, and yet do damage on impact. Imagine if you will, running around invis as loki, sticking one of these or the talons on a group of unsuspecting corpus all chilling together on their coffee break and then with a push of a button they all explode together. Is this meta? No. Is it fun? Fuck yeah it is!
Playing Frost (Biting Frost) with Nautilus and Sancti Castanas is great fun. After stripping armor and clumping the enemies, they will just dissapear. No corpses, nothing.
The Electric Proc comes from the Explosion, so it shouldn't be affected by Galvanized Shot. Beats me if it does or doesn't. With the Castanas being a Weapon that procs Electric all of the time and its tiny Magazine of 2, Conjunction Voltage might be a good Arcane for it.
I like these excursions outside of the meta. One of the most fun things is when weapons grow with investment. For me the weapon that really shone like that was the Atomos back in the day before the incarnon. It felt weak at first but then it became better and better with every forma added. Until it became a fave and the whole linking beam style of weapon is now a mainstay for me and I barely go anywhere without my Tenet Cycron, my vermisplicer primary or my Atomos Incarnon.
Great video, thank you. The Sanctii version is one of my favorites. Btw, Galvanized Shot's damage bonus doesn't work on either the explosion or the forced proc. The status chance is also much lower than shown on contact detonations, so the status bonus may not have been doing much either. (It is accurate for in-flight detonations, but then you don't get the forced proc.) So "next time" put on Hornet Strike and...Acolytes beware! :P
While I'm nowhere near a top tier player, I absolutely love that, with the right knowledge and determination, Warframe allows for darn near anything to be successful. Personally, I love using a Quellor with multishot and punch through alongside a Valk who I stuck Xata's Whisper on cause it seems like anything with punch through will hit a target with a void proc multiple times.
Gamble made a similar video showing off potential of the least used stuff. It's crazy to me, because one of my fav things as an lr is to be able to use non meta things and realize how fun nonmeta equipment is.

Dude, you have to try this Sancti Castanas build with the new mod from the Jade update: Arcane: Conjunction Voltage. Exilus: Pistol Ammo Mutation. 1st row: Pistol Elementalist, Pistol Pestilence, Scorch, Primed Convulsion. 2nd row: Faction Mod, Primed Pistol Gambit, Primed Target Cracker, Primed Fulmination. You need something to group enemies and something to apply Viral procs (I use a sentinel w/Helstrum), 2-3 shots and it can I clear SP corrupted heavy gunners without damage buffs like Roar or Eclipse.
Heyya man, just wondering if you could make a video on how to play certain warframes and weapons I mean mechanics wise. Could be a "But How?" series. Like for example im playing after a 4 year break and I completely forgot how to play Equinox or even how to do simple Tridolons etc. would be a cool series for newer players and returning players.
another weapon i feel is gravely underestimated is the plasma sword, just because of how *sloooow* it is, it has actually decent crit stats from what i remember
If this is normal castanas, I actually would love to see an episode two of this but with sancti instead. Almost double the base damage, crit capable and more!
DE Just needs to make them like demo stickies in tf2. More than 5 the last just explodes. Also it made me feel great sticking them to terealyst nodes and detonating right as they came out of shielding, but they need to fix the part where it would bug out on bigger ones and deal 0 damage. It’s not even particularly meta in the current way you kill eidelons but it’s a shame I can’t use them
Much of the newcomer grief I've heard of is from those who don't have access to late game mods and various weapons adapters. What the meta calls a good weapon is nothing without mods. At this point in its continuous development, Warframe is a game where you look for the right weapon to modify your mod set.

Tbh if a weapon is bad it should have good riven disposition, and rivens were created to make bad weapons good, they made the issue worse but atleast they work (kind of [maybe])
I just got around to leveling the castanas, at MR25 lol... Don't judge me. That being said if they're your favorite weapon in the game where there's a will there's a way baby.
hey man, ive had the idea of building the kuva kraken like a portable machine gun, since it can empty the whole mag on secondary shot. no idea what to add more than mag size tho, but could be funny
My favourite secondary for ivara (sancti version). Feels like an explosive kunai. I got a decent riven for it with 370% damage and 160% electricity. I use it against eidolons and can oneshot most limbs if it crits. Never tried to destroy several limbs at once though...
I’d love to see if you could figure out how Desecrate REALLY works, especially with the Ripkas. I have searched every forum and Reddit post and I still cannot get a concrete answer on what triggers the gore effect from the amalgam mod..
"Enemies killed by Slash damage to the torso can result in their corpse being bisected" "As an alternative, the "gore" attribute from Amalgam Ripkas True Steel mod also applies itself to the rest of the player's equipped weapons, companions, and Warframe abilities, and they will function identically to the dismemberment mechanic, whilst ignoring the weapon's IPS disposition." Are you sure you checked the wiki? It's pretty in-depth.
Aklato is my guilty pleasure and I'm sure it's worse than this.. xD But as far as throwing weapons go, I absolutely love aegrit. Same concept, you can only have a few of them active at once and it's manual detonation. But that thing has great crits and way more base damage than castanas. It is super fun weapon to use but it struggles against armor in SP unless you can support it somehow. Against corpus just run full toxic build and ignore shields is the best
KEK that comment clearly didnt build castanas at all also galv shot no effect aoe so also i completly forgot castanas were tenno weapon which means they can be a prime would def like to see the manual detonet to be gone
It's weird because prime weapons were not supposed to be just the original designs, they were the analogic alternative to arm the tenno since the sentient could steal tech/energy weapons...then they released corvas prime, larkspur prime and fulmin prime.
The Castanas aren‘t really a challenge as much as they could be. The Talons are far worse; they deal Blast damage with a forced Puncture proc! Though in all seriousness , the only thing that makes these thrown bombs shit is that you constantly need to detonate them manually. They should just explode when you shoot while at the max number.
Dear MC, can we get a "Their Own Tier of Trash" series? With this i propouse the next contender, the Dera (not vandal). It suffers from the same forma problem, and even if now its not that bad, back in the day i called it "The Nerf Gun" (i painted it orange and blue), since i used it when arcanes and galvanized mods werent a thing. I just want to see that beatiful thing shine in the same way it did for me
i love this video nice... can you do something about silva & aegis normal one not prime version i love this weapon it looks cool asf but when it comes to damage i try all stuff i give up if you do something about this weapon ill be greatful to you
I'm trying to think, of the absolute worst melee weapon, but melee has been so strong in warframe that I don't even think any of traditionally "bad" melee weapons would be a challenge (not even the infamous heated sword is *that* bad, sure it's bad if you don't have any mods at all, but since it does heat damage I'm almost sure you can scale it)
@noahedenborg4221 That's literally what I said dude. It doesn't work on AOE it only procs on the first enemy hit. But it DOES proc on the first enemy hit.
@noahedenborg4221 I'll add to this so it makes sense for you. If there's 5 enemies standing next to each other and you shoot the one in the middle with a grenade launcher of some kind with a galvanized mod on. The one in the middle that's hit by the actual round will proc whatever said mod is equipped. The radial blast that hits the other mobs around the initial mob, but it will not affect the galvanized mod. It's only the bullet/round that counts. Galvanized mods do not care about radial damage, falloff damage, splash damage, or however you want to address it. If you still don't believe me, you can pop into the simalacrum, or I can make a full video about the issue, add slowmo frames so you can see in real time, and I can come back here and tag you.
Then there's the Talons which is basically the same but with Blast. If you want exploding on contact you have Pox. The main reason these all kind of suck is ammo economy and their goofiness with multishot as you covered. Also it's cheating going against Corpus with electricity procs lol
It's my no brainer for sp missions. I moded it for secondary fire mostly. Over 200% status and focused on fire status. Shreds everything but i can't imagine it without primed sure footed.
Warframe: A game where the meta is your dogged determination to be right about a build.

I'm convinced most people who leaves comments like that are mr12s who only plays mesa
There is such a ridiculous powercreep in modding that I'm wholly convinced any weapon can be SP viable.

But that thing has great crits and way more base damage than castanas. It is super fun weapon to use but it struggles against armor in SP unless you can support it somehow. Against corpus just run full toxic build and ignore shields is the best
if you want a truly trash weapon. try the max evolved 5 forma'd laetum. (i forgot to bind my shoot button)
Such a good video. You are a gem sir
Damn now i wanna make a yareli build with this weapon
The ammo 💀
KEK that comment clearly didnt build castanas at all
also galv shot no effect aoe so
also i completly forgot castanas were tenno weapon which means they can be a prime
would def like to see the manual detonet to be gone
It's weird because prime weapons were not supposed to be just the original designs, they were the analogic alternative to arm the tenno since the sentient could steal tech/energy weapons...then they released corvas prime, larkspur prime and fulmin prime.
i would love to see you make inaros' abilities do damage without spending hours devouring a level 30 infested charger
All politicians should have to live in poverty for there first term to remember the little guy they're fighting for.
Yes, Harold is good and you are helping a little bit.
But don't call me Shirley.
"Bad weapon" mfs when the weapon is MR3
Dear MC, can we get a "Their Own Tier of Trash" series? With this i propouse the next contender, the Dera (not vandal). It suffers from the same forma problem, and even if now its not that bad, back in the day i called it "The Nerf Gun" (i painted it orange and blue), since i used it when arcanes and galvanized mods werent a thing. I just want to see that beatiful thing shine in the same way it did for me
It's nice to see these performing well as when I tried they felt quite poor
i love this video nice... can you do something about silva & aegis normal one not prime version i love this weapon it looks cool asf but when it comes to damage i try all stuff i give up if you do something about this weapon ill be greatful to you
I'm trying to think, of the absolute worst melee weapon, but melee has been so strong in warframe that I don't even think any of traditionally "bad" melee weapons would be a challenge (not even the infamous heated sword is *that* bad, sure it's bad if you don't have any mods at all, but since it does heat damage I'm almost sure you can scale it)
Wonder if melee influence works with them?
The Galvanized mods only work on the first enemy hit in any AOE scenario.
uhhh no gunco dont work on radial at all besides very very few weapons
@@g1tr3kt5 saying it PROCS when it has nothing to do with PROCING and saying first enemy hit doesnt make sense
ITS CALLED DIRECT HITS MA DOOD
Stug next please
As we can see now, the only trash here is OP modding skills.
If you ever want to redo this "challenge", I have an unranked, unrolled Castanas riven.
Then there's the Talons which is basically the same but with Blast. If you want exploding on contact you have Pox. The main reason these all kind of suck is ammo economy and their goofiness with multishot as you covered. Also it's cheating going against Corpus with electricity procs lol
Can we get a bubonico build? Idk how do you build it
It's my no brainer for sp missions. I moded it for secondary fire mostly. Over 200% status and focused on fire status. Shreds everything but i can't imagine it without primed sure footed.
Sancti castanas is pretty good.
And also unlike the stug, the castanas have an upgraded variant...
What is your Qorvex build? He doesn't took amlost any dmg to health in acolyte fight and i don't see you press abilities to shieldgate. Just wondering
My guess would be Catalyzing Shields plus a full umbral set to make use of Quorvex' high armour rating.
It's probably the "forbidden Qorvex" build he made a video about like a month ago: th-cam.com/video/yNC02sh8fRU/w-d-xo.html
