    I have owned 2 Range Rover HSEs (north America), Discovery 1, LR3 (my favourite when I had kids and had to haul around teams and scout troops as it is a 7 seater) and now a Range Rover Vogue TDS 2010 which I love (so does Jeremy Clarkson!) and a Range Rover Vogue 2019 for city driving. YES I am a masochist but love these old Landys! My son and I just bought 3 Defender 110's from Spain that we are rebuilding. I grew up with them in the Caribbean and they are part of my DNA. Love em or hate em but usually Landy owners have both emotions at the same time. TY Kasper for going through the build I found it very informative.

      @kasperhoglund  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s great! We had a freelander 2 and a discovery 2 when I grew up. Also a 7 seater. So I loved sitting it the third row with the middle seats down with bags and storage when we did long drives haha!
      Later had a LR3 and a 110 puma join the family before I bought my LR4.
      Now I have the 109 Series 3 and my dad kept the 110 + a Discovery Sport.
      Kinda sticks with you this brand 🤣 or otherwise

    Great video! I would love to see what your sleeping and living setup looks like on the inside, if it isnt too personal. Most people who overland longterm sleep in a rooftent so your setup would be interesting.

    The best looking D4 I've come across hands down. The balance between the retro look and the modern parts are balanced perfectly 🤌
    Dreaming about doing a similar build for overlanding and work in the near future, but will probably have to settle for the D3 for economical reasons (and I have a strong dislike of start buttons/ electronic key systems).

    • @kasperhoglund
      @kasperhoglund  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah there is a bunch of electrical stuff in this that I really would like to not have. A dumbed down and simplified D4 would be really cool to make. But so many laws regarding car modifications here in Norway that it’s a hassle. Even my car is in the “grey” 😅
      Thanks for the compliment! Really want to have it look like a planned build, and not just random pieces thrown together!

    • @macdingdong

      Ha, you speak about restrictions in Norway, and I have no clue what this is about. But coming from Germany, I think it can not ne worse in Norway 💁 … I love to listen to your little stories, and again from me as well, mentioned before by others: It is an amazing style of your car. 👍

    your videos and their calming vibes are a blessing! Building a RRC myself at the moment and its highly inspirational seeing your field tested disco! The compactness of a roof tent-less suv is just so intriguing. Trying out to switch to a hammock inside the car to safe space after I've seen a guy do it in his defender. Keep up the awesome work my man

    • @kasperhoglund
      @kasperhoglund  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks man! I do LOVE the fact that everything is secured inside the car. Depends on the weather where you travel obviously. But being ble to stay safe and sound in the bed, with crazy storms outside during Norwegian winters.. It just makes life so much easier than the old style roof tent.
      For weekend getaways its really nice, but not as a full time home!

    • @linkshander
      @linkshander ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@kasperhoglund that's so true, spent my first night high up in the Swiss alps cuddled up with my dachshund and a diesel heater running on the roof in a small snowstorm and it was so cozy. A big Van feels so out of place imo. Would love to take it to Norway one day and get that insane experience of the landscape and nature you have up there! If my girlfriend wasnt there I would be living in it full time already haha.

    One of the things I have found is that it takes a few trips to finesse your equipment and fit out and it's too easy to just get the wallet out and buy everything from the overlanding catalogue. Best to wait and purchase or make stuff as you need it rather than have a lot of equipment you never use but looks great 👍 loving following you on your journey and also your rebuild.😎

    Beautiful build truck. a pop top roof is the best there is. In Denmark they sell these in the begin with the discovery 3, because the cheaper road tax. But I don't know if you could use it for actually sleeping under. Or that it was only built for standing height. I myself always sleep in my Lr 3 just like you. But I only do that during holidays and not constantly like you do.

    I miss the old videos on the carpentry portion - would be cool to see what you come up with to make the inside more a effective for living. I know you said that you want to build a hatch though the roof to climb into the tent - that is also another great idea - kind of like a mini pull down ladder to climb up from inside the living quarters to the pop up - I do like the idea of turning the bottom quarters of into an office space and the pop up into a rest space since there is not much room in the back of the discovery currently for you to sit up fully as Imagine you are about 6 foot or so. Same here. I place to get an LR4 HSE in the States here.

      Yeah! I actually want to go away from the air suspension in the future to have “less things” that can cause issues. But as of now I have it lifted on rods and just keep it at that heigh no avoid messing to much around with the system.
      For leveling I usually just park with a wheel on top of a rock or something (and I’m not really sensitive about sleeping on an angle hah)
