The most underrated three times world champion 🏆
Nelson Piquet was the best driver of the early 80s.
And he achieved 3 world titles in the Turbo era... Even if his 1st one in 81 was with a non turbo , it was already a grid where turbo engines were better. So he won with a Ford, a BMW and a Honda engine with very competitive grids and drivers.
Nelson a waunterfull driver He was the best. Learning fom niki Lauda in the Session 1979 😊😊
And they were friends till the end. Piquet was devastated when Lauda passed away... A true heroe and 🏆 since he had that terrifying accident where he got seriously burned.
I miss Piquet vídeos on board with Brabham BMW And Williams Honda. Better cars with better engines.

Never cared for the man but he was top shelf with the gearbox useage, particularly on downshifts.
It was interesting to compare for instance him and Schumacher when shifting in a Benneton . Schumacher seemed a lot more rough with the gears adn revs , but perhaps it was no longer a reliability issue . In Nelson`s time you needed to be more carefula, I guess.
I certainly agree with you about Schumacher. In the footage of him at Monza you can see the rev alarm light being regularly activated during downshifts. That particular version of the Cosworth V8 seemingly took a lot of abuse.

O Nelson Piquet correu pela Maclaren em 78, Brabham de 79-85, Williams 86-87, Lotus 88-89, Benethon 90-91. Cinco equipes em sua carreira.
E foi campeão com 3 motores de marcas e conceitos diferentes ... V8 Ford em 1981 ... BMW 4 cilindros em linhas Turbo em 83... E Honda V6 turbo em 87... Algo único

Nessa época havia competitividade na categoria, todo ano era um campeão diferente, quem era bi campeão era muito bom e quem era tri campeão ou mais era um fora de serie, depois dessa época a f1 ficou chata, não existe mais competição na f1, é um carro, uma equipe e um piloto ganhando tudo por vários anos, chato isso, hoje a tecnologia faz tudo pelo piloto, os pilotos ficaram mimizentos, a f1 é contada em duas historias, antes e depois daquela lendária foto dos pilotos Piquet, Mansel, Prost e Senna (junto com sua morte na pista).

Lotus Honda 100T & Lotus Judd 101 were shit cars. Lotus Camel Honda 99T was the second best Lotus for me, driven by Ayrton Senna in 1987. The Lotus JPS Renault 98T was my favorite Lotus ever.
Lotus where rubbish although they had a lot of money and till 87 a pretty decent engine
