When Sephiroth was explaining the situation, his demeanor, body language, and words portrayed him as the kid he still was. He was trying to explain his actions like a child would when being reprimanded for wrongdoing.
It's worse now he is a puppet. I wonder if he kept a diary or video recording he experienced his whole life before falling hard. Someone like him must have one of those.
Glenn slowly becoming that Father figure Sephiroth never had is both good and bad. Good because Sephiroth really REALLY needs it considering his life. Bad because if we consider Glenn was never there during events of Crisis Core, that means he is either dead or something happened that prevented him from being there when Sephiroth needed someone the most to smack some sense back into him before his madness completely took over.
Mutanized as a foetus, kidnapped the day he was born, and endured nothing but pain during growing up in a nasty lab. I hope Sephiroth's life in Remake part three will give him some justice.

Watching this made me quite emotional. Whoever said that video games couldn’t tug at your heart strings because of the graphics is flat out wrong.
Poor kid man… He’s had expectations all his life. And even when he fulfills them he gets treated like an outcast still. All he wanted was a normal life. And he grew up as puppet for Shinra… No wonder he snapped. He’s had a HORRIBLE life
Everytime I see Sephiroth, I keep asking myself what if he had experienced love? If he knew what freedom was? Would he still have become a villain because of the Jenova cells? I actually feel sorry for him despite everything he's done and I wish he was happy, had a happy life and had people around him who loved him. His story always makes me so sad. @@EvelynL.1112 Oh, absolutely. It’s clear that Vincent and Lucrecia loved each other, and Lucrecia loved Sephiroth. So they would definitely be good parents. I especially like this possibility because I’m a believer in the theory that Vincent is Sephiroth’s father.
In the OG, they made Sephiroth a cool villain. But after watching Crisis Core, I realised Sephiroth is a tragic villain because his whole life he is made as a puppet. The guy was sent to war as a child and was told to hardened his emotions when committing genocide. And being SOLDIER First, he was already in a different league. Just two slight equal powered but useless friends who he truly cherished, and again they betrayed him. He has no mother or father figure at all and people around him are afraid of him or at least put him on a pedestal and that made his whole entire life lonely. I guess what he did after Nibelheim is already proof that there is no way back for him and that is what makes it sadder. If only there is some father or motherly figure to talk some sense into him, and pull him as far away from Shinra and Hojo as much as possible, then maybe things could have been different.

I do wonder, if the story of Young Sephiroth ends up being canon to the events preceding the remake series of games, that perhaps it is this special bond and impression that Glenn makes early on with Sephiroth is why he seemingly receives "special" treatment as a Sephiroth "clone" going forward into Rebirth? He seems to have his own personality intact and exercises some autonomy in his actions whilst working on behalf of the man himself.
Spoiler for Rebirth It's supposed canon as Glenn and his friend are the proto 0 soldier and joined Wutai after abandoned by Rufus who shot Glenn in the back. Spoiler for Rebirth . . . . . . I hope this is not the case, but I think Sephiroth is only using Glenn's appearance to mess with Rufus and start a world war. The young Sephiroth we see in TFS is long gone. Revenge could be a motive, but since in Rebirth they are still portraying him like the usual super evil villain, I doubt he has any relations or feelings towards Glenn at that point. No I'm not thinking about the fact that this is probably the first time Sephiroth's ever been hugged. No shut up. Stop it.

The way he spoke and the fatherly love he used to have really humanised him... but it was all taken away from him...
