What if Sephiroth from the edge of creation is showing his past self visions of what will happen in the future? The edge of creation/singularity is a place that exists outside of the boundaries of time and reality after all. So it wouldn't be impossible.
NOTE: I have not finished Rebirth! i’m about 42% in. EoC might be how Sephy was able to come back from the future to have the (R) team kill Destiny. I also think that, as an ancient, Aerith can see into the EoC along with the other aeriths, and that knowledge is what the whispers took from her
