Dpad is so bad it was enough for me to return it, everything else is fine, and i dont see myself ever using the triggers nor the analog sticks since im a pc gamer.... so that being said the most important part of a contrller would be the dpad.. why? Cause of indie games examples... cuphead contra etc all platformers just work better with dpad the shape of it going into ur thumbs is gonna be painful when u play for several hours

Plenty to complain about, like the lack of games for the new console, but you know - when the main interface to the console is hurting people's hands it's quite an important point!
@@thereverseeffect7269 Me? So I have Xbox 360 controllers, Xbox one v1, v2, v3 and v4 controllers, Xbox Elite v1 and v2, and a Razer Wolverine Ultimate. The Wolverine is smaller than my Xbox one controllers. My Eilte v2 is the same spec as the new Xbox Series controllers and I have no issue playing with it for over 23 hours at a time. My PS4 controller too. I honestly think people really look for nonsense to complain about. Especially when it makes no sense at all. If there was a problem with the controller hurting you then you would have heard it first from the Elite v2.

I’ll admit, something feels different with the paddles. My thumbs start hurting after an hour or more of play. Didn’t have that issue on the older controllers. May be anecdotal, but has been my experience.
I have a feeling both the Series X and PS5 suffer from subtle changes that make them both feel strange unfortunately

I would often accept losses for minigames in Mario Party 1-3 to avoid the pain.

I mean I've always felt discomfort with xbox controllers but these ones actually so hurt my hands after a while. Not everybody has the same experiences..
@@scottiesavedmjscareer1085 have the same with the DS4. It feels too small for me and I get claw hands after a while. Besides that the analog sticks feel too slippery to me . Especially annoying while playing games like Bloodborne or racing games.

NES may be the only thing that can actually cause non-arthritic pain, the rest is just using my wrists too much (holding controls uses wrist muscles which mine are very much against).
Absolutely love the new Xbox controller. I think it's nearly perfect and I also agree it's one of the best d-pads of all time. The PS5 controller feels too wide to me. Still comfortable but for all around use and 2D/retro games, the Xbox is my go to. Excellent for PC.

I think almost a quarter of the kids in my class had serious wounds in the middle of their palms thanks to Mario party and the N64 joystick. Just an entire palm sized blister that because we were stupid kids we couldn't stop ourselves from popping and pulling at.
Man, people really complain about the smallest thing. They should try going back to something like N64 controller

I do prefer the one controller. After using the series x since launch, I've definitely noticed some wrist pain after long term use.

I'm actually excited now to try out the Xbox Series controller, because I felt that the last one was too big for my hands. The Right Button on the D-Pad for example was sometimes hard to click without feeling like you have to reach. I think this is better for a lot of people, except for possibly some of the really tall people with long hands. But it even works for ReviewTech, so it's hard to say

The opening sequence in which Rich demonstrated the xbox controller hurting his hands really drove home the utmost seriousness of the ramifications of this controller.

Preach. It is literally a better take on the best controller ever made. Even when I'm on my Xbox one, I still use it. It's my favorite controller hands down.
For people with bigger hands it hurts in that your hand is scrunched up more. So goes the opposite way too. Took me just a day to get used to, but am ok now
@@henry.has.been.humbled I didn't notice. I would say that I have fairly large hands, it hasn't had an effect on me. Now older and weirder controllers do ex. N64, Playstation 1/2/3, NES, SNES and so on. I personally love the Series X controller. I have since I got it. I use it for everything. PC, Xbox One, Series X. If I can use it, I will.

@@coolioam8137 Each to his own I guess. If its not broke, dont fix it. The PS5 controller is whack IMO. Haptics is just a gimmick the same way sixaxis was. The grip on the back of the SX controller is a welcome addition and it just feels natural the same way the ps4 controller did.

For someone’s who plays fps everyday for a couple hours, I noticed the difference as soon as I held it! Instantly I was like whoah I don’t like this, grabbed the old controller and it felt like home.

I've been playing with the Series X controller for a couple weeks now, I've used it in long sessions over 3 hours long, I think it's super comfortable. I love it. And it has the best D-pad ever since the Genesis controller.

I like the original 2013 controllers the best. My hands just glide across it, dpad is perfect for fighting games…great feel. Only downside is missing extra button, So nothing really…

I do like the new XSX controller, feels snug and I love the extra grip but I have to say my fingers do hurt after 2hr sessions. Never had this issue when I changed over from the 360 to the Xbone controller and my fingers never hurt before because of a controller. Perhaps its because of the slight change in size my hands may just need to get used to it 🤷♂️

Except when you play rocket league, boost is RB, and you go through 2 xbox controllers within a month because Microsoft doesn't do quality control in 2020 for some reason. I switched to ps controller and haven't had an issue since. This happened months ago, and I have yet to break the r1 button from just playing the game like you play any other game.

I made the switch from Xbox to PS5, the duelsense is proper next gen and when games start utilising haptic feedback gives the duelsense the advantage over the Xbox controller which brings nothing new

I have smaller hands and the elite controller I have hurts part of my hands after a while. I still use it and love it but happy to hear these are smaller. Hard to please everyone when we’re obviously all different
I didn't even notice a difference between the old and new Xbox controller size. They are so similar the battery compartment lids are interchangeable.
That means it’s been doing that cuz it’s the same controller.
I love the xbox one basic controller. I just forget that it is there. Perfect. Can't afford an Elite.
It was best on xbox OG, but lacked the two rear buttons. However the OG controller was remade for xbox One as optional accessory, with complete buttons, that proves how good OG was. Still got both mine, both standard and compact.

The last controller hurt my hands too. Specifically my pointer fingers. First game i played a lot for it was KI and LB/RB was slightly changed from the 360 controller. Took a few weeks to get used to it

The face buttons on the PS5 controller hurt my thumb due to the harder plastic mold. I took them out and put in PS4 Dual Shock 4 face buttons, and my thumb has been fine since.

No problems on my end with the Series X controller, its actually made really well!
I love the clickiness not because of the sound, but more on the tactitle feel that is the side effect of the design to produce the clickiness.
The only time I have had an issue with a controller is when I bought an aftermarket paddle attachment which made my dual shock thicker this in turn made my thumb joints ache a bit like players thumb you read about

anyone that starts feeling pain in their hands when playing games should:
1. stop playing for a little. give your hands a rest.
2. start working out (more specifically, start doing forearm workouts).
It's properly because he plays with the dual sense more, which is heavier than the xbox controller.

I think it's more about how you hold it. The angle of my hands wont let me hit the bumpers without haveing to bend my finger perpendicular to it's normal axis. Honestly, why bend yourself afound the controller when you could just switch?
I have average sized hands and use a normal grip, and when upgrading from the Xbox One controller to the Series X controller, for the first few hours I could notice a difference in feel from my middle fingers and where they rest on the back of the controller. My fingers were used to sitting in a slightly different position on the Xbox One controller, which I have thousands of hours on. It wasn't totally uncomfortable, just different, but in a few sessions my fingers were accustomed to their slightly different resting position on the Series X controller and the new controller felt like home again.
I came from the xbox 360 to the series s and i didnt even realize the controller was smaller and neither did i have any discomfort.

I have serious carpal tunnel syndrome. I used to have a pistol grip syndrome in my left hand. Even got surgery on the left hand. I played with the One controller and it would give me pain but with the series x no pain at all. The angle at which you hold the controller helps a lot for carpal tunnel.
This happened to me earlier today, I think it was my right hand that was paining. I switched to a One X controller after that and it felt so much better

The new controller was a more substancial upgrade than I expected, but it's not that much smaller. I'm super happy with it.
It's texture and ergonomics are more noticeable than people let on. Especially the thumbsticks. The thumb grip is deeper and rounder so it fits your thumbs better, and there is a more pronounced edge between the dimple and the textured sides. It hugs your thumbs so much better! I can't wait for the elite series 3.

If the controller is hurting gamers hands, then why have people not stopped buying it?
When I was playing the xbox one (not xbox series), I noticed the triggers hurting my fingers and the convex buttons where hurting my thumb, but that was after playing 14 hours a day for 2 days straight of playing. And the pain went away after rest.
I dont have issue playing 30 hours in 2 days with the ps4 controller.
I think its because the angles of the triggers buttons (going up about 70 degrees and then flating to a 180 degree angle at the top) and the convex buttons.
Edit: most of the tension using the trigger is right on my finger joint. That's why it hurts
More comfortable than the PS5 controller. I'm reaching more on the PS5, even with my giant man hands.

My problem with it is the positions of the joysticks are weird and it annoys me because my left thumb feels light and non immersive
For those experiencing pain, please don't use it anymore. Your hands are truly important. This controller gave me a tendonitis that hurt a lot for 3 months, and luckily I recovered compleyely and didn't have any permanent damage (But I didn't play anything in those months, had to switch to a membrane keyboard while recovering).
Obviusly you won't get this from day1, I simply ignored the pain and kept using it for 6 months but still
You can always try the Xbox One controller, which has a better shape, the Elite Controller, or a 3party controller , There's even a Xbox classic controller for those with big hands like me.
I have heard that the PS5 controller has a bad shape as well... looks like the 360 Controller will be my choice in PC for another decade lol
When I first got the Xbox one back in the day, the controller made my hands hurt. That went away obviously. I think it just takes some time for your hands to get used to it
Yup i dont even like the ps3 and the ps4 nor i dont like the ps5 controller im so use to playing with the xbox 360 and the xbox one controller
Its a large controller. WHICH THEY TOOK IN CONSIDERATION and made it a bit smaller this time.

I've been playing my on my Xbox Series X for 3 days straight now and haven't had any discomfort whatsoever lol no way these reports are real, this is the best Xbox controller since the 360 imo it feels amazing in ur hands

The new Xbox Controller felt nice at the beginning but once i got into like the 4th hour of a gaming session my hand gets cramped up and it doesn't go away the next day. Had to switch back to older xbox controller and hand no longer was cramping up

The reason why I enjoy your videos is because you get to the point and if you have extra part of the video that you want to fill for advertisement you just do whatever. Its a lot better than the youtubers who talk slow and try to stretch the video out.
Ironically enough, I had watched this video before and shook my head at people complaining about it. Then I got the console over a week ago. I also had the controller for a few months… And I got diagnosed with tendinitis from it. I tried to continue playing despite it causing pain when gaming over an hour but it’s a no go. Left my hand in excruciating pain in a splint, with ice, and pain killers.
It feels like the size is insignificant but oh boy I wish I had never gotten one because it’s that bad. And no. I don’t have weak hands or pains like this before. Surprised how many other people had this issue too cause I thought I was going crazy until I remembered this video.
Just get an Xbox one controller it works on the new series
