Thanks. So based on this comment (and not knowing the players, it was Robinson, Hanahan and Barbash). Fantastic, like you said, the different approaches. Summit
When I was in my twenties here in Birmingham UK I walked into The Diskery in Hurst St and the guy behind the counter said;"What are you looking for?" I said I; 've no idea!" He reached under the counter and said "Try this!". In those days you could go upstairs and listen. The EP was Charlie Parker with Nows the Time Chi Chi Confirmation and I Remember You. I sold my collection later when struggling financially, and regretted it. TH-cam gave me the pleasure of rediscovering why I loved it all these years! Loved that piano solo!
all the professors at my college watch these. guys i’ve played with have transcribed solos from these. it’s like these are becoming a lil beacon of improvisation.
Nice alto sound. Whoah, that phrases and hip playing. Surprised by Splanky at Emmet's solo Waiting for Chad Lefkowitz-Brown. I'm sure he one of most insane and unique sax players in the world.
3:21 holy shit how does Sarah manage to play that in the most non swingin way possible? Also Evan Sherman sounded like he literally fell down the stairs after that break. 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Such a treat to hear 3 completely different burning alto players backed by a world class rhythm section!
i love the 3 different approaches to their solos barbash is ultra hip loves the way in incorporates motiffs of the comp into his solo *****

The state of The Alto is fantastic! Absolutely burnin soloists! Wow! Brilliant players and phenomenal rhythm section! I want more!
Sarah killing!!! Fantastic solo, brava!
I enjoyed the entire stream on Monday evening, but thought this was the highlight. Great players, all of you.

Alto Madness! Love it - yes, biased, but still. Great tune and great playing.
Justin really is the master wow
Smooth as silk folks.
I can't believe they just added the shout chorus from Neal Hefti's Splanky in the middle of the tune. Took me a second to realize what was going on.
Eric Dolphy lives on in the guy in the blue shirt👌
That bird lives quote at 3:24

Sarah has some outside tricks on her sleeve! No boring blah-blah-blah too. And she burns!
sarah has that jackie mclean energy
That's exactly what I was hearing/thinking - so fucking awesome.
10:02 Splanky!
Both Justin and Sarah seem to have a lot of Vincent herring influence
💭 Reminds me of…
Spanky at 10:00
Second cat definitely got the feel down. The first guy is an excellent player don’t get me wrong, but feeling is everything!
Barbash got that hard gutbucket sound. fuck. awesome.
Anyone knows the name of the tune she's quoting on 3:22 ?
Bird lives
@@charlesperforms Thank you very much!!! Now time to learn it!

attack of the altos
Hey Emmet you should mix it so the Left and Right are Audience left and right rather than performer left and right! Just a suggestion :)
Ice cube on sax
Nice 👍❤️
8:38 a little confirmation !!
I believe it's Blues for Alice but it was definitely cool how he worked it in!

When I heard him start the Splanky riff, I just sat here with a big smile on my face.

Is it just me or does Red Garland meet Thelonious Monk here?
A bit of Eric Dolphy vibes/influence from dude in glasses.

Good to see 3 alto players.

You can't have everything! 😅 Let us be grateful
I didn’t like any of the alto players, but you’ve never heard Bird, Cannonball, Phil Woods?
