James Bond killing it on drums. . . .move over Daniel Craig!
Plus it looks like he’s playing a drum kit designed by Q to fit together like a Russian nesting doll and still leave room in the boot of the Aston Martin for a bag of golf clubs.
I thought that was kevin costner ...
nah he's bruce willis
That's right - this comes to one's mind instantly!! Bong, James Bong!! Cool stuff - this group of musicians really rock!!!
That’s Joe Farnsworth - legendary drummer from the NYC scene!
Just FYI Emmet, if you see the comment section of this blow up in the next few weeks, understand that its because of JoJo's Bizarre adventure part 9. the manga is famous for using song and band names for its power system, and one of the newest ones is "Bags' Groove". so expect alot of new people to show up and make references to it.
What's JoJo's? I came here after I accidentally went to the ICU instead of MRI
@@Rghasuk Man's a real idiot
OH MAN THAT SALT PEANUTS QUOTE WAS SO COOL
I was just chilling in class until I heard salt peanuts and I know for sure I didn’t play salt peanuts 😂
the old devil moon quote was the slickest though
@@petergoggin8647 did you hear the society red quote though? that was super slick too!
Time stamp?

7:22 most tasteful use of the lick i’ve heard in a LONG TIME
Normally in these videos it's Emmet pulling out the lick. I've heard it at least four times from him alone on Live at Emmet's Place.
6:12 is a prime example of musicians listening and reacting to each other in the moment!
@@theoracle7463 Y'all missed 3:50

This is another "it's a small world" moment - I played a memorial service for a friend of mine in Santa Barbara today (our former mayor was an amazing man), and his daughter-in-law (who I barely know), sat down at the same reception table. First thing she says is, "Thank you Debbie for introducing me to Emmet Cohen's music!" She is a BIG fan. On Mondays I stop teaching my piano students in time to hear Live From Emmet's Place - they know this is 'sacred time' for me, and I encourage them to listen too. My last Monday student is learning "Bag's Groove" - I know she'll be inspired by this, & I hope it won't intimidate her - she has talent but not enough confidence yet. Taking it slow.. These EC3+ shows always seem relevant with their tune choices!
Thanks Ms.Denke! Teachers like you are vital for us young people!
@@simonkirchner6036 I really appreciate you saying that Simon!
Diddy bennack
Just when you thought it wouldn’t get any better...my guy on contrabass scats his solo. Mind blown!
So epic I accidentally went to the ICU instead of the MRE
Ouch I have a nosebleed.. wait why does the security footage not add up?
I would call Emmet`s place as The New Cool Jazz, because jazz is fun not competition. I love the spirit! This is why music is the closest vibe to (devachan!) God`s heart. Bless for everyobody who have ears to hear
💯 May we all have this heart too!
well said, I feel like im right there with them, having a blast playing along
this made me smile
Joe Farnsworth says a lot in what he plays.
Obviously this is absolutely amazing, but Emmet, why did you cut Russ' bass-intro off at the beginning?
I miss it every time, so now I have to scroll to 1:38:50 on your birthday session every time 😬.
9:58 Trumpet on the couch looking at that snare getting beat up
dude as a 7th grade trumpet player this really inspires me to become better at my instrument and this makes me want to find friends to play stuff like this with me.
Yeah man. Music is pretty powerful. Stick with it.
you're on the right track man. I wish I explored jazz more and attempted to play more jazz standards like this when I was in middle school. Just keep playing as much as you can and dig deep into every standard you play, they'll stick with you for the rest of your life.
@@Coderedpirate thanks man i will and i’m passionate about music so it would be a good career to head into in the future too
@@batmanfortnite2006 this. I completely agree. Couldn't have said it better myself. It's a real anchor for life, it's extremely valuable to have a creative and emotional outlet such as music going through life. And you can play until the day you die!
Long tones every day. Have fun. Never quit. Good luck, pal.
5:37 starts the jazziest "happy birthday"
Was it someone's birthday?? xD

i love it when Araki hooks me up with amazing music like this
So enjoyed all these sessions of the talented Emmet who can play just about any style and emanates love for jazz and unselfishly cameos other musicians accented with smiles, laughs, and matched improvisation. Keep the sessions coming!
0:10 Day 1 and Day 5000 of playing piano in 3 seconds
Ooohhh! That energy is infectious … what a collab! These guys are enjoying each other … pure fun & joy!
Farnsworth is pure class. The Tux!
I got to sit in with Benny at Minton's this past Thursday at the jam session he hosts - not only an amazing talent (he played piano on Blue Bossa!) a genuinely nice and welcoming human being. Was a thrill of a lifetime for me to meet a superstar and actually play with him on an iconic stage. Jazz is in great hands with these young lions.
Thanx Emmett
You're delivering all these great blues liks to my guitar on a silver platter...
You is the stuff!
Love that collectors items shirt
And that Old Devil Moon quote 😫🔥
salt peanuts, salt peanuts
Mr. Farnsworth's suits are just as good as his playing.
Absolutely FANTASTIC - thatz wotittzallabout - cheers

Lmao
this trio is insane, the first 30 seconds was too niceeeee
Came for the blues.. stayed for the quad cam
Bass player in pajamas, drummer in tux lol it’s like the old tune Anything Goes 😆
A year on since I first watched this and never, ever tire of it. I see something new in the drumming every time I watch! Merry Christmas and joy to all at Emmet's Place, and to all the other listeners!
When I was in high school and to a lesser extent the semester I spent in college for jazz studies, this was a common tune to call at jam sessions. Its really a song I learned a lot of vocabulary playing. From my friends and professional musicians. We never amounted to anything this exciting though
Dude where have you been all my life. You rock the Ivory. More more
Emett Cohens playing is like sex to my ears. I can listen to that 24/7
Gotta dig a sax man that comes straight from a brawl!
7:21 Gotta love the lick
Who informed wrong dress code to the drummer?
3:49 they just start hitting salt peanuts
the salt peanuts lick at 3:48 from lead trumpet is crazy 😭😭

Beautiful 😍 Enjoying it on a Thursday evening ✌️
What a difference an "alive" drummer can make! They were all getting locked on to the backbone!~ ;)
Joe Farnsworth whew😁
Damn, such cooking! Loved the horns trading. Thanks guys
nice bass solo
Why did I just discover Emmet Cohen, these amazing muscians as well as Patrick Bartley today. I've been listening too much from the period of the late 40s to early 80s but have been sleeping on the current muscians...this is excellent and i found a new addiction!
I'm looking forward to see Emmet and his friends at Umbria jazz soon!!
Would love to hear Emmet and the fellas doing C Jam Blues!
GOOD , GOOD, MUSIC!!! ...SHABOOM!!!!!!!
Benny the alcoholic himself
I really don’t drink much at all actually
Kevin Costner on drums, respect.
Fine, fine playing everybody. The bag said: "Came here to hear Lawrence Welk music, and what's all this then!' Then she flew off on her broom with a big crack; don't look anybody the crack is hideous.
is this in their flat?! ... mhm (brilliant concert wow what level!)

Jack Sparrow Bobby Mcferrin on bass
Emmet! that’s right! this the band.
3:49 Salt Peanuts Quote
This is what is known as a "TIGHT" Combo. Oh they are nice. I'm in my study, on a sunny winter's day, books, papers, cluttered over tables, chairs and even a bed that you can't even see because there is stuff all over it, and with this music turned on and up I feel like I'm in an after hours supper club at 2:13 am spinning the ice around in my rum and coke and ready to order a plate of sizzling calimari for my lady and me. I'm ready to break out my roll and spend it all, because this night it's ON!
Emmett, when can we come over to see it live?
Love this Emmet! Keep em coming sir 🙌🏼
As always on this channel - big fun!
How nice of mr. Bruce Willis to take the time to come play with you guys, straight from whatever award show he was attending!

Such talent and fun. Hey Emmet, you have to find the reso heads for that house kit 's toms and put them back on!.
For a brief second, I thought it was Kevin Costner on drums lol
What is the outro music? 11:08
It sounds like an arrangement for Tea for two
Excelente...un placer....

Good old jam!
Suena muy cool Frank Sinatra en la batería. Muy bueno el groove ¡¡¡¡¡. Brillantes todos
no, that's Kevin Costner
Some of this reminiscent of Gene Harris and John Heard at Otter Crest. th-cam.com/video/bwXkS7lht7I/w-d-xo.html Gets going at about 2 minutes in.
James Bond on drums?
Would that the dark times were over so that Emmet could bring himself and his friends - and his apartment - Down Under.
It's the bass man for me🖤
Damn! Great feel! Great JOY!!!!
