You should try a Raptor bedliner paint job on the Banana, it needs something other than shiny paint. I restored my 2000 XJ 18 months ago during lockdown and it is the best upgrade I've ever done. One important thing is how much cooler the truck is in the summer because it is so thick.
"Just with some vice-grips and some straps".... don't forget to add 1) knowing where to place the vice-grips and strap, 2) how much tension to apply, 3) where to tap-tap-tap, and 4) knowing when its done. The body work folks... it's an art form to be admired. Nice work on fixing the Bannana. I suspect some help will be needed on the Nugget too!!
One I've always heard. "After trying to get an old compressor working for a day, a company called in a professional. He showed up, took a hammer and struck it on the bottom, and it started working. He then billed the company for $1000." The owner saw this and exclaimed that was way too much for the amount of work he had done, he needed and itemized copy of the invoice. So the repairman revised it to say "$5 for the hammer, $995 to know where to swing it."
Robbys face when Matt said "I can't believe you did that with vice grips and a couple of ratchet straps" was priceless. I bet behind the smile he was thinking "vice grips, ratchet straps, 20 years experience and finesse with the correct hammer, yeh sure was easy, that's why you called me"
I understand the idea of reversing the impact, and I could pull out the bends. It would end up looking wavy and uneven, though. I would also spend the whole day on it, and it would never look right. The mark of a real professional is the ability to make it look easy.
One of the things I love about this channel is that it’s not just off road recovery work. You guys do repairs and custom fabrications to your vehicles. A lot of awesomeness on this channel!!!!! Awesome work on pulling those panels out. I used to pull out windows from limousines that way and we’d put them back in using a thin rope. You would lay the rubber around the window frame and put pressure on it and when you’d pull the rope it would pull the rubber over the frame. That part of the video brought back memories. Wasn’t fun when the person holding the window would slip and the glass shatter 😂.
Lol Matt: " all that with just vice grips and a strap" the look on the kids face said it all. That is like saying to a heart doctor, all that with just a scalpel and a bunch of string.
I would say the Banana is getting a total make over, you guys amaze me with your multiple skills. The best part is you do a great job and it looks and works like new when your finished.

I was half expecting him to say that they were leaving seat belts out to save weight since no one uses them anyway! Lol
But they harass Lizzy about not wearing a seatbelt.
@@JaneWagman well Lizzy is what we call.. very good looking. They just don't want to see her purdy little face get banged up. I'm thankful for that. =)
Caught a glimpse of Lady's beautiful smile!
Has anyone ever recorded Ed telling old stories from mining or anything? That would be interesting.. to me anyway.
We need this!
MORR STORY TIME WITH ED!!! see what I did there?
Yes. Check out the MORR Facebook page.
@@JohnFL - Just say NO to Facebook & Twitter!
@@anotherdave5107 No worries, I don't have an account with either. MORR has a public page.
You guys should flock the dash with the windshield off. The reflection from stainless and the heat it will produce could do a number to your eyes because of reflection. If nothing else wire wheel it down to a matte finish. Flocking it is easy and barely anytime. You could rhino line it or even put a Molle Panel overlay for securing things down.Great work!
Once again, so many keyboard warriors who know sooooo much more about what Matt wants/needs than Matt does. If you're a long time viewer, you know that Matt knows what he is doing.
Hell, yes!
The roll cage is looking nice.I had mine powered coated on my 46 willys flat fender. Yours will look really nice once it’s painted. Thanks for sharing.☺️☺️☺️👍👍👍👍
My like goes for Lady's smile at 8:59
Going to be cool to see it with some fresh paint on it. Robby giving away his trade secrets. Thanks for sharing.
“Just vice grips and some straps?” Oh yeah, and the knowledge and experience of the pro using them...........
My wife and I both watch your channel, and every episode of Matt's off road Recovery! We really enjoy the episodes, and all the folks who make it happen. You folks seem like family!
Matt, You’re just gonna tear it up again when the “next” golden nugget type mission comes about 😂😎 Dents give it character.. Kind of like scars, Each one comes with a story! 😎🇺🇸👍🏻
Dents give it character up to a point but Trailmader's wrecker is going too far 😁
Congrats on hitting 902k! I’m sure you’ll hit 1 million soon!! All your hard work and growing pains on videos is paying off. Always fun to watch your videos 👍
We need an app that tells the weather in Ed's voice .
I will watch all the ads you need to help cover the financial component to the current B.S. you guys are in. Always helping people in any way you can should not get you in hot water.
Matt: "I don't carry jerry cans because I need it to be as light as possible."
Also Matt: "Let's put a roll cage in it."
😂
Rather run out of gas than roll it
Running out of gas won't kill you. Rolling without a roll cage could. I'd say his priorities are in order.
Oh I know. All in good fun. Safety third!
Things change.
Matt always hated a winch, now he's all about one. You learn as you go.
@@ronaldfulton1175 they need the extra gas
Keeping the crew safe, the sign of a good boss man!
Yeah Matt, running in 105° heat is "easy" for the camera man. Lol.
LOL yeah. Trevor just makes it look easy, but I dont see Matt running up a 30º sand hill in 105ºF
Funny thing is, in the beginning trevor was super out of shape but now that he’s got “used to it” more than before, he seems to enjoy it more now since i can tell he feels way lighter on his feet, Conditioning training at Matts Offroad Recovery is real👌🏻💪🏻
