Hello Mother Mycelium. Thank you for the video. Perhaps you could help us with a question regarding this method - I tried your recipe here with millet, but since we had growbags a little bigger, I upped the grams, so it would be 2000g in total. I was very precis in measuring up, weighting and calculating. But, when I mixed the millet and the water, it seemed very wet, almost like "water with millet" and not the other way around. After pressurecooking they seem a little better, but still very wet? Is this suppose to be this way? Could there be a difference as to which kind of millet you use? Thanks in advance for answering.
After pressure cooking there should not be any excess water left in the bag. All of the water should be soaked in to the grains. As a general rule, I am going for 35% moisture content for grain spawn. For example for a 2000g bag of spawn I'd use 700g (or ml) of water and 1300g of millet (or any whole grain)
I use Duxtop 1800W induction plates. Keep in mind that If you're planning on using these you'll need an induction compatible pressure cooker as well. Thanks for watching! a.co/d/daXXTUY
@@MotherMycelium How have you been able to manage the needed pressure. I have an induction plate, but can’t set the temperature as I would like. I keep having to play with their pre-set temperature settings. Very poor design to be forced to use their pre-set temperatures.
I'm not sure on that one. I just use the presets and it works great. It usually takes about one hour on level 10 (for my induction plate) to get to 15psi and then I reduce the setting to level 5 for 2.5 hours and it holds perfectly
Hello, would you be able to tell me how i would scale down this recipe for bags that are 13 inches by 4 inches and weight of 8 grams? Im having a hard time finding a recipe for bags that are so small. Thanks!
You can boil the grain to hydrate it before sterilizing. Then you can just fill the bags with the desired amount of hydrated grain and then pressure cook it. Check out our older grain spawn video for more details about this method. th-cam.com/video/Yyc3m4QVFUs/w-d-xo.htmlsi=-D2Q4LRBC8h6pHr6&t=72
this is crazy i had the same method a few years ago but unfortunately i only had 1 successful grow after that all my attempts ended with contaminated buckets. if you end up reading this in your personal opinion about how long do spore prints stay good, i got some around 4 years ago and threw em in my freezer.
Yes you will need a pressure cooker to reliably make clean grain spawn. You can also buy sterilized grain online if you do not want to invest in a pressure cooker.
@@MotherMycelium I put 2 bags into my ninja air fryer on the pressure cooker setting for high 2.5 hours and then injected them this morning, hoping they start to colonise 🙏🙏🙏
Howdy! We typically use 14 grams of honey and 500 grams (or milliliters) of water. Check out or liquid culture video for more details: th-cam.com/video/deBtlEiani4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=y9Tpmt16wt-1T9jY Thanks for watching! 🍄🌍
Bro you just divide 475 by 885 and you’ll see it’s 53 so 53 percent water to dry grain but that’s kind of high to be honest I would stick to 38-42% so 336-371ml of water to 885g of dry grain instead of what he put but his will work to but idk I’m just picky

Clear, concise, and no filler. Video is good too. I like your style.
Good job!
Wow great explaining ! I also subscribe to your supplements and love your mushroom drinking chocolate! Keep up the good work 🍄🍄🟫

There's a problem if I seal bags before sterilization? Nice video btw
You can seal the bag before but you run the risk of the bag popping during the sterilization process.

What specific kind of millet do you use? What brand?
I use millet from a farm in Hugo, Colorado called Grains from the Plains. But any millet should work

I've had spores (and liquid culture) stay viable for many years. I would recommend storing them in the refrigerator rather than the freezer though.
Do you need to put water in the pressure cooker?
Yes you will need a pressure cooker to reliably make clean grain spawn. You can also buy sterilized grain online if you do not want to invest in a pressure cooker.
@@MotherMycelium how much water do you need to put in the pressure cooker?
@MB-tz6yc how ever much water your pressure cooker requires.
i was wondering if i can use wheat for this and how much water and grain i would need
Yes this method works great with wheat. You can use the ratios mentioned in the video as a good baseline for pretty much any whole grain.
@@MotherMycelium okay thank you very much going to go do that now
Nice! Let me know how it goes 🍄🌍

guys maybe a stupid question but here where i live pressure cookers do not have psi meters on them? How do i Check it?
I'm no sure, but using a pressure cooker without a pressure gauge seems pretty risky.
May I know your liquid culture recipe Sir ?

For dot plank, that Needle used. How to make that dot plank?
Can you elaborate please? I'm not sure what you mean by "dot plank"
@@MotherMycelium i mean that, Needle suck into plastic bag, through like dot, but bigger dot dsize, oh I know injection port.
Yes it's an adhesive injection port.
@@MotherMycelium i search in indonesia, havent found yet.
You can create a makeshift injection port by filling the hole with some rtv silicone

2:17 - 885g millet and 475g water

Also the more moist it is the more the mycelium likes it but so does bacteria
