You should’ve seen my face. I still don’t really know why I didn’t plug the mic all the way in to begin with. It happened before where I completely forgot to plug it in at all, but just doing it halfway is a different level of hurt 😂😂
That’s almost as bad as stepping out of the shower and realizing that you have to make a movement. Makes you want to go back to bed and mentally back out of the game and join a new lobby😂
Clown socks, short jackets, the dreaded triangle....The dapper men of the past are rolling in their graves I'm sure. Excellent points as always Vlad. I'm passionate about how I look and the way I dress not only for myself but those around me. It's fun to live an elevated life, with good tastes and sharp dress. Have a great day and keep the vids coming my friend...cheers!
Sold me on cuffs, pleats, and not wearing a technical watch this month. Man, my style's going to be sweet the more I listen. Always a joy, man! Thanks!
wow.. I never saw someone pointing out so detailed view about dressing classic. I have been learning this for few years now.. but you are really good in it... wonderful video.
Brother, what separates you from other supposed men’s wear TH-camrs is your focus on exposing the differences between timeless styling vs men’s fashion, which is dictated by current trends. I appreciate the education I receive from watching your videos. I appreciate your balance…I am the same. I am a street cat from Harlem so I rock uptowns, polos, hoodies, and jeans. However, I am also a professional and my presentation is very important. Your content has helped me to elevate my style game exponentially. Thank you and as always…I’m proud of you Brother💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
That’s great to hear that my content has been helpful. I think it’s an important for one to be able to do both. It’s odd to me when I see certain guys I know that really care about their appearance when it comes to street fashion but see them in a suit and they have both buttons buttoned. Why not keep the same energy with Menswear also? I’ll never understand that. Also big shoutout to Harlem, I used to hang out there a lot in my younger days. There was a spot called Skeme or Scheme on 125, that was my spot. And a cat named Ali sold mixtapes right out front. The good ole days
Cuffs, pleats, suspenders are definitely subjective and a matter of choice. I definitely think these lean into the classic menswear style and are not "requirements" but as I have gotten more into the menswear lifestyle I definitely am leaning towards the cuffed and pleated trouser as well as double breasted wide lapel suits. Keep preaching brother 🙏🏽
Indeed, bro! Same with Grand Seikos too although there are more of those out there since they’re still being made. But I don’t think I’ve ever seen a KS out in the wild.
Vlad, I think I've been watching your channel too much lately. I went to a funeral today and I saw a guy wearing a charcoal suit with light brown shoes and I thought of you right away.😂 Subscribed
The thing I don’t get is why is it always the lightest brown shoes that they can find? It’s never even a medium brown which would still be bad but not as bad.
5 years ago, I thought I would never like pleated trousers. Now, all of my trousers have pleats in different arrangements - single, double, forward & reverse. I found that pleats give the outfit an elegant & classic personality. Thanks for your video! 🤙🏾
The skinny tie and almost nonexistent collars KILL ME! And they seem to ALWAYS be paired with an ill fitting jacket… cannot unsee it fam! Great content as usual, I’m on point with all 10.
A lot of good tips here. I personally am not into cuffs, but I didnt take into account the weight that will affect how the trouser leg falls. Maybe I will consider in my next suit
I wish I didn’t have to do that intro. I had a better one the first go round but I’ll save it for next week 😂😂😂. And good looks on the compliment, I really love that piece. And the fact that’s it’s older than me makes it even more special.
right now i'm sitting in front of my closet, with a pencil and a white sheet because i'm in class now, but man i see so many things that i'm going to have to throw in the trash, some colored socks, i don't care what happens to my bank account i have to pay cause i've been ignorant now i'm learning so keep teaching me🤦🤦🤦🇭🇹🇭🇹 Thank U Uncle 🙌
Haha…it’s my pleasure, fam! We’ve all been there though. I only had one piece survive the purge and it’s my Ralph Lauren Purple Label tie that I still wear. Once you have a curated closet, you’ll never have to worry moving forward. By the way I’m going to start consulting virtually instead of just in person. So if this is something that you’d be interested in or know anyone that does, let me know. 🇭🇹🇭🇹
Again, man, you deserve all the compliments in the world. Nobody else can put together such comprehensive lists of tops that are as simple as dramatically important and basic. Amd nobody else can do in such a neat, effective and enjoyable way. Fantastic job, all the points are soooo important, especially for those who think style is what most Instagram models show
I think the “dreaded” triangle can also be caused by a jacket cut with open quarters. That’s seems to have been the style for a long time. Although getting the buttoning point of the jacket and the rise of the pants right can negate the effect of open quarters.
Love the content but in a video about paying attention to detail you start by telling us how you didnt pay attention to detail 😂 gotta respect that honesty!
So glad to be back. I had no idea that the video was going to be this long until I was editing. I must have a lot to say since I was gone for so long 😂😂
All of my dress slacks are custom. Along with a wider seam to seam at the cuff, they all have cuffs, pleats, and suspender buttons. A few have "Box Pleats" which make them unique, and a feature I haven't seen anywhere else. Your videos are all right on point, and should be required viewing for all young men starting at age fifteen.
Your kind words mean a lot, I truly appreciate it. One of my cousins have mentioned that I should teach college grads how to dress for job interviews. I’d love to do that.
This is such a SOLID tip video. Right up there with plain ole good manners. My Gramps would be proud of you. 👊🏾 Would a fragrance be considered here too? Is there an understated cologne you would where with a suit?
That’s a huge compliment, bro. Thank you! One fragrance I’ve been digging lately is the Dior Sauvage Elixir. I’m new in that game though but I have an authority in that field coming up soon. Stay tuned!
Some great tips here Vladimir thank you again! The pleats and cuffs have definitely got me thinking. Plus I’ll be getting measured up for my first proper suit in a couple of weeks and I’d forgotten about the dreaded triangle thing😂
Appreciate you, Julian! I’m going to start consulting virtually starting next month. Right now it’s just in person and I don’t advertise but things are about to change. Stay tuned if you’re interested.
My pleasure! I truly appreciate your comment. I do offer group coaching and 1:1 packages as well. Feel free to email me at vr@chaceandryder.com if you want to learn more.
I’m biased. My dad, who is 80, rocked a sharp suit back in his heyday and was a non-pleat, non-cuff guy so I tend to follow his lead. My view is it’s a combo of body type and preference. If you fit in the average range of not too tall or short and your thighs are not particularly thick or thin, do as you prefer. If you’re Mr. Thunder Thighs or Sir Stubby Legs then you probably wanna rock cuffs and pleats. As for me, I’ve long been my dad’s son. However, maybe it’s time for me to try both pleats and cuffs. Because the one thing I do agree with is don’t knock something until you try it. As for lapels and pocket squares? I’m definitely on team wide/yes. In addition, I rock boutonnières whenever I can. I’m also planning to get some lapel pins. Cuff links is also something I want to get into. Anyway, keep up the good work, Vladimir!
Great tips man. I wear the old bertie tie knot and I like how asymmetric it is. Some of my pants have cuffs and I remember once then I had guy at local store messure pants for a hem and I asked for a cuff. He looked at me like I was crazy.
7:25 my go to tie knots are usually the old bertie or the half windsor. and if i'm wearing a thicker tie, i'll go with the 4 in hand. occasionally i might do the double 4 in hand as well if the tie is too long so as to use up some extra fabric
Great content Vlad. Thank you for all that you do. My style journey resembles yours quite a bit. The mistakes and the remedies. I'm currently in a total wardrobe makeover- for something timeless and sustainable. My workplace sadly is business casual only- no suits. I can however wear sportcoats and trousers/denim. I've acquired a navy Spier and McKay Neo cut suit. Unsurpassed value! I'm loving your grey herringbone suit in the video. Should my next suit be a charcoal or is mid grey acceptable? 3 season weight before seasonal suiting? Thanks again Vlad.
What’s up, Tommy? Mid gray and charcoal are both very versatile with the charcoal being a little more formal. But really, I’d say it just comes down to preference and current needs. Charcoal happens to be my favorite suit color, so I would lean towards that.
Great vid Vladimir! Really hope this info gets out there coz these details really do make a big difference....dreaded triangle :D One I would add to the list (not sure what I would take out from your list) would be showing too much shirt cuff. It kind of is in the same boat as the suit jacket being too short, it just seems very childish.
You’re right! Although IDK which one bothers me more, that or the suit jacket sleeves being too long like a kid wearing their dad’s clothes. They’re both pretty awful.
If I wear a suit with pleated trousers, then I would agree with you about putting 2-inch cuffs on certain trousers , not at all dress pants need them, in my opinion. Thanks for the style tips from your perspective.
The dreaded triangle is just about the toughest one for me to avoid. I have such a long torso that even jackets that are more classically cut (and obviously long enough for me) paired with standard high or mid-high rises give me the issue. I have a S&M custom suit that I put the maximum rise into and it still isn't high enough. lol.
I think it's one of those nice to haves if you're into that but not a requirement. It's usually also more about the jacket balance than it is the trouser rise. You might have a slightly round back and might be walking out of your coat, meaning your jacket most likely flares open when it hugs your collar. Easiest alteration is to shorten the collar C -> c. Not the easiest alteration, but also not the hardest. But then again, could just also own the triangle, as some designers embrace it as a style choice anyway.
I feel you and see what you mean. I’d say even S&M have limitations when it comes to their trousers’ rise. You probably won’t get the perfect fit until you go bespoke.
I went on a. first date recently to a upscale restaurant. I wore a beautiful sport jacket, trousers and tie. My date commented how I was overdressed. Women are never satisfied! Lol I really enjoy wearing tailored clothing.
Love the great content. For me I stopped wearing cuffs in my 30s (58 now). I didn’t like the cuff breaking up the linear flow from my pleats to my shoes. I also stopped wear suits and other dress pants with belt loops. All of my none causal pants are made for me with side straps. At 5’11, not having the horizontal line of a belt gives mean a clean linear appearance from top down. Please keep the lessons coming👍🏾. Oh yeah, let’s talk about the Beanie with a suit another time😂😂
Great stuff, sir! I really like your tips on matching a pocket square with your tie. You are so right about the dreaded triangle, too. I find a three roll two button jacket provides the perfect button position without having the roll of the lapel go down too far. And I'm done pushing back regarding cuffs! They are classic style, after all. Your advice is very valuable and so well presented. Thank for the content. I really look forward to it.
"Being stylish is completely different from being loud." "Dressing well is like an orchestra that's so in sync and in perfect harmony that you can't tell which instrument is doing what." Man, that is good shit.
I follow pretty much all the tips except I don't care for wearing watches, and I think shirt triangle is too expensive to fix in rtw, needs custom and possibly bespoke
What’s up, Jason? I agree with you on the triangle and it also depends on your shape. If you have a really long torso for example, then it’s tougher OTR. But if you have a regular built, I’d recommend Berg & Berg, Natalino and Spier & Mackay’s Neapolitan cut. All come with a higher rise and a lower buttoning point.
I feel you're steering your audience in the right direction. Though sometimes it seems as you're removing the person's individuality. For example I like a brown based sport coat as a staple more than a navy blue. I make the necessary adjustments to suit what I feel looks best on myself based on my complexion. I'm 90% with you on style and sequence, but I maintain my personal style. I don't want to be the cookie cutter gentleman.
I teach my exact process from beginning to end without hiding anything. Guys are free to take what suits them and live the rest. My advice is usually based on me speaking to someone starting out and trying to establish their wardrobe. Once they have the basics, I hope that they can find their own personal style and take it from there. The funny thing is even though I tell everything I know and exactly how I do it, I’m never worried that if I go somewhere, I will find a guy there dressing exactly like me. And that’s because we’re all individuals and something will be different. Dressing well is an art, nothing cookie cutter about it.
Your videos are masterclasses on how to dress. Your advice is as timeless and classic as the clothes you love. The only suggestion I would respectfully mention is that without attention to grooming you could wear the best tailoring and the best shoes and needing a haircut, beard trim and manicure kills the look. You are the best.
He has mentioned grooming in a recent video on a similar subject. But I wholeheartedly agree with you. I am currently falling foul of one the the points you brought up, ; the manicure. Sadly I've been turned away quite a few times simply because the salon does not serve men. Unfortunate for them to turn away custom, but those establishments are likely not the best for me.
What’s up, Jeremy? I made one on the best dress watch under $500 a few years ago but it has since been discontinued. So I can definitely make a new one. Have to do some research first
Awesome! I will look forward to seeing that in the future. I am in the market for a dress watch in the $400-$500 range but don’t know where to begin. Thank you for your channel and what you do!
I agree with a lot of view points that you share and express on your channel. But some of the things you say is just personal preference! But keep teach the uninformed!
Of course, what I do is talk about how I went from looking like trash to how I look now! But most of it is rooted in Classic Menswear and aren’t foreign to those that subscribe to the same principles.
Fam, I really LOL’d when read this. My bad, bro 😂😂. I remember when I made that realization myself and the only thing that survived was a Ralph Lauren Purple Label tie that I still wear to this day. I was really into skinny ties back then but somehow bought a 3.75” tie, not sure why but I’m so glad I did.
2 inch cuffs? I wear cuffs…but not 2”…more like 1 1/2 inch. Also, shouldn’t you have a slight break between the end of your pants and top of your shoes?
What I mean is, the break gives the pants a slightly professional appearance that non-breaking pants don’t? And the end of the pants should slightly cover the top tip of the heel of the shoe, yes?
Definitely in the "loud socks/not-nice shoes". Why? Because I just don't care about what people call nice shoes. I hate the conservative cis look they represent. But I also own my ugly, weird shoe choices. I know what I like, and I wear them with the confidence that makes me look good anyway 😊
you should avoid these navy pimpled dotted crap socks at ALL cost. avoid any pattern at all onyour socks. thank me later. and no, text and other prints are NOT allowed either man they be playing with this one they ruining everything
Honestly, I am not a big fan of the cuff pants. It just gives the impression of an older man. I'm not ready for the cuff pants yet. I truly can understand the weight of the cuffs make the pants drapes better though. Definitely appreciate all the style tips to make us better men.🫡
I agree with a lot of view points that you share and express on your channel. But some of the things you say is just personal preference! But keep teach the uninformed!

I diss agree just a little bit with cuffing the dress pants all the time.
It’s all good! How to you decide when and when not to cuff?
I think the “dreaded” triangle can also be caused by a jacket cut with open quarters. That’s seems to have been the style for a long time. Although getting the buttoning point of the jacket and the rise of the pants right can negate the effect of open quarters.

Lol
I really enjoy wearing tailored clothing.
Oh yeah, let’s talk about the Beanie with a suit another time😂😂
Haven't heard you say your trademarked catch phrase in a while ... Black Cap Toe Oxford
Haha…I did actually. A couple videos ago “The 10 Wardrobe Essentials”.
Thanks for the info, I have sub to your channel, and enjoying the input that you are giving.
"Being stylish is completely different from being loud." "Dressing well is like an orchestra that's so in sync and in perfect harmony that you can't tell which instrument is doing what." Man, that is good shit.
I'll repeat a previous comment. A Masterclass!!
It's because of your videos I tried suspenders and I'm never going back to belts fam.
Haha…🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
I can’t do cuffs on trousers bro but I like to see it on other people. They just don’t feel right on me.
Stop looking down and just let it fly, fam 😂😂
It happened to the best of us..❤
STYLE OG!!! 👊🏾
I honestly don't mind skipping cuffs, but only if the pants are sufficiently tapered.
Vlad hits it out of the park again
I understand that you should never wear a Watch with a Tuxedo. The idea is that by looking at your Watch you have some where else to go.
Always forgetting cuffs on trousers .. balances the look and they drape better
You talk a lot about dress watches. Would you consider a video on the best dress watches under $500?
What’s up, Jeremy? I made one on the best dress watch under $500 a few years ago but it has since been discontinued. So I can definitely make a new one. Have to do some research first
Awesome! I will look forward to seeing that in the future. I am in the market for a dress watch in the $400-$500 range but don’t know where to begin. Thank you for your channel and what you do!
Costco sells a Raymond Weil Maestro for around 500. Hell of a watch for the money. I have one and it’s one of my favorites.
Tissot make nice dress watches under $500…
Cuffs on dress pants ??
Outside of America, it's a very dated fade
You have no clue what you’re talking about, respectfully.
The tie knot should correspond with the collar.
Short guy here, I can’t do cuffs
Without knowing your exact height, my recommendation is to go with 1.25” to 1.50” instead of 2”. But you definitely can still wear them.
@@v_r_I’ll give it a try on my new pair of trousers
I agree with a lot of view points that you share and express on your channel. But some of the things you say is just personal preference! But keep teach the uninformed!
Of course, what I do is talk about how I went from looking like trash to how I look now! But most of it is rooted in Classic Menswear and aren’t foreign to those that subscribe to the same principles.
The watch needs to be mechanical
Bro love your vids but I’m slowly realizing I gotta dump every thing I own and start over…. FML
Breaks are strictly preferential. As long as my socks aren’t really visible, I’m good.
If you got big legs, like fat thighs, pleats are a blessing
About loudness: never dress louder than your personality.
Definitely in the "loud socks/not-nice shoes". Why? Because I just don't care about what people call nice shoes. I hate the conservative cis look they represent. But I also own my ugly, weird shoe choices. I know what I like, and I wear them with the confidence that makes me look good anyway 😊
You gotta do you at the end of the day. I respect that you admit it.
You're getting old Vlad🤦🏾♂️ Misremembering😂
I’m still scratching my head about this one. Because I didn’t forget, I have before but now I make sure. But doing it halfway is still baffling
the pocket square should always attract less attention that your tie. golden rule
never get more than 1 pleat on the trousers. NEVER. it is gumpy.
and do them reverse, it is more elite
A second pleat can play a supporting role to the first; they work in tandem.
you should avoid these navy pimpled dotted crap socks at ALL cost. avoid any pattern at all onyour socks. thank me later.
and no, text and other prints are NOT allowed either
man they be playing with this one they ruining everything
Not even a bird's eye pattern?

Honestly, I am not a big fan of the cuff pants. It just gives the impression of an older man. I'm not ready for the cuff pants yet. I truly can understand the weight of the cuffs make the pants drapes better though. Definitely appreciate all the style tips to make us better men.🫡
