The feeling when a birdhouse is nicer than any place you've ever lived in

Beautiful. It's worth pointing out probably that perches on bird houses are discouraged by bird conservationists. Any bird small enough to use the bird house can get away with a much smaller structure (or none at all) so any bird big enough to need the perch is probably only going to be there to eat the inhabitants.
I never knew that. That's good to know.

Excellent! It could fit a whole flock of birds. Cool brickwork technique. I also liked the way the screws fit with the brass tubing. Great ideas all around.
Those are some MAD table saw skills you've got. I would have never thought that even a table saw could be used for fine work and small pieces.

That level of detail is crazy, i'd finish the basic shape and be like "fuck it, they're birds, what do they care?". I admire the detail that you put into your work, it's amazing. keep it up.

WOW! I've been dreaming of stuff like this since I was 8. This is so cool and I've always wanted to be this good at carpentry and just general constructions. I really like thinking of stuff like this and I know how to do it but I just get scared near power tools. I'm only 16 so I'm sure I have a lot more practice in store if I wanted to do it for a job but I just don't know.

This is incredible! Best bird house I've ever seen. A question: do the birds slip off the metal perches? In my experience, smooth perches are hard for the birds to sit in. They prefer scratched or wooden ones because of the better grip.

This is really really beautiful. I really like how you created the decorative elements yourself. That transparent backside is a great idea as well. Kudos on this project.
However, smaller birds like robins, sparrows or finches will probably not nest here because the entry holes are too large for them to keep their young safe. Larger birds may rent some rooms though. :)

nizmojoeblows It makes perfect sense. Most craftsman take pride in the brands and expense of their tools and like to brag about it. Jimmy has tools that he picked up off the street, in some cases, and yet he puts MacGyver to shame.
except the cnc machine and top end dewalt range, the man is gifted but his tools are top end as well.
