As an amateur with woodworker, i typically feel overpowered with the entire arrangement th-cam.com/users/postUgkxrYREG3-7f1Aqk9ams3ZESRNzGnfdUtyQ . Be that as it may, this arrangements drove me through with much clarity and effortlessness woodplans. Works i now work like a genius. That is great!

The thing I love about your channel is that you are honest about the work you do. You are humble enough to put your mistakes/wisdom out there, which I believe is critical in growing as a craftsman. I love the cabinet because it has a story. Best wishes to you Jimmy!

"Somebody somewhere is gonna buy that at a Fleamarket in a hundred years"
What a wonderful sentiment to keep in mind as you build something.

Agree. Try that statement for some of the crap that is out there. This is true craftmenship, which are very rarely found these days. I love the build. True art.

True, made to last. Maybe if there were more people like this, we would be more sustainable and this beautiful world will be there for our grand children.

Your comment about someone buying it at a flea market someday is spot on. I'm always treasure hunting at a flea market and the thought of having a project I built becoming someone's treasure find is pretty cool to think about.

Thank you for the last statement as this is a heirloom project as I'm currently in the process of designing a toolbox similar to this for my 4 year old daughter to store her tools for her lifetime. This is an absolutely beautiful design and I'm going to definitely incorporate the paneling technique on the lid and bottoms into her toolbox design. Thank you once again and keep up the wonderful work.

I built one about the same size with 1/2 birch plywood and finger jointed the whole thing. Love my box and my drawer slides and has a small handle.
Next time I make it I'll dovetail it together, love the white oak idea- very hard wood and weather resistant. Like the little mechanism to keep it open, I used a chain and it's broken now.
I noticed that you didn't add feet but still looks like a hell of a box and should last forever.
    Thank you for the ideas!

As always another awesome video! I really like this toolbox. I restore hand planes and currently use some canvas tool bags for all of my odds parts that I keep to complete planes that are missing a frog or tote or whatever. I really like this box and will be building one soon. I really like your sanding board. My grandfather always had clever techniques to accomplish a task. I took my wife and granddaughter to the local farmer's market today and there was a little table for a local maker-space group and I thought of you. I told my wife that Jimmy DiResta would like that. It is nice to see people just making something with their hands. Thank you for sharing with us! A shout out from Fate, TX.

Thanks Jimmy, self taught woodworker, like to learn the old school tricks you employ to be more accurate and efficient. Never feared for your safety before, but was cringing when you were making the large finger joints for the box. The tips of your finger are out of sight but not out of harms way. Thought you might want to employ a higher fence for holding the stock in order to keep your digits intact. Regards, Tony

I’m a beginner and I’m so happy I found this video. So many great tips:
    the pre-build sketch
    reducing snipe
    centering the board before ripping
clamping when making the first router cut on the finger joint
extending two boards to hang the workpiece on for sanding
    the sanding board!!!
    the wedge clamp!!!
    corners first when routing
making up for the air gap in the hinges
    AND
Great explanation of everything throughout, great build and great video production.
Extremely well done. Other youtubers should take notes and try and emulate this.
