Very interesting how you create your dado's. I've always used a radial arm or table saw. It's always nice to see someone show you something that is so clever, that your left wondering "why didn't I think of that years ago"! And I actually have a router template kit that would do exactly that! Awesome job man!
Jimmy, I really like the one. I think it would be bad ass if you made one just like it, except with drawers that had the same steel band on the edges and the brass screws around the edges. I agree with someone else that said Diresta's cut is the only reason I subscribe to this channel. I love your work.
Reminds me of the parts bin my grandfather had set up. He used the old metal 1 gallon oil cans, cut off one side and rolled in the edges, and had a set of shelves on either side of the door into his shop that he set up specifically for those. Remember going through those cans for the odd nut or bolt for whatever project I was building under his supervision at the time.
The bins were a great find. I have a feeling you would enjoy being a garbageman, like I used to be. I found lots of great stuff on the job. Too bad, these days it's all going to automated, and the guys don't even get out of the trucks anymore. Lotsa useful stuff going into the landfill. Nice job on the storage unit.
Just beautiful! I'm blown away at everything you build! I'm really glad I found your channel along with the other channels you appear on. Thanks for all of the videos.
I've been waiting on this video for the last few weeks. So good. I learned around 15 things here and will incorporate them into what I'm building. Thanks Jimmy.
BEEN DOING THE ROUTER MODS FOR YEARS >>> WHEN EVER I BUY A NEW ROUTER I GET A FEW EXTRA BASE PLATES >>> YOU CAN BUY ALL MATTER OF EXPENSIVE JIGS AN FIXTURES KEY WORD BEING EXPENSIVE >>> BACK IN THE DAY ALL YOU COULD REALLY GET WAS THE ROUTER THE REST WAS UP TO YOU >>> NECESSITY IS THE MOTHER OF >>> LOVE YOUR STUFF JIMMY D. THANKS FOR THE HARD WORK BROTHER >>>>>>>>>>>>>> BE BLESSED >>> ABC
this is one of my favourite things you have made jimmy ! there is just something so perfect about the form and function that does it for me . thanks for the share
I love this project. I think that this and the tool drawer project would work well in my art studio. Your efficiency ratio fills my little O.C.D. heart with glee.
Great build Jimmy! Its always fascinating to see you build stuff but the curiosity still remains as to how you came up with that idea. In this video you showed the sketch you came up with before building it. Could you please show your pre sketches in your future projects? As someone who sees you as a mentor I would like to know more about your though process through your sketches. Thankyou
After years of watching you ,this is the first time I've noticed your not using an old time radial arm saw ! You will have room for one in your new shop. :-)
Fantastic Jimmy! Love the edge banding - I've logged that one and will be using it somewhere for sure. The bins themselves are very cool and you've used them to great effect - what else would we expect! :)
That is so beautiful. I have about 500 plastic "TSA bins" (they're rubbermaid commercial plastic bins) that needs something like this, but less cool... they'd look silly with a steel front with brass screws...
Looks great. I've not seen that router jig set up before - could be modified as a removable base for easy use on multiple projects down the road. Combine it with one of those "Exact Thickness" dado jigs. Just thinking out loud here. Scott
I hesitate to critique in any way, but literally the only thing I don't absolutely love about this is the exposed screws on the outside plywood. I realize this is being used as shop furniture, but man, what a beautiful piece - could easily be sold for many thousands in some boutique furniture store. Excellent, excellent work!
i wish i would have seen this video a few months ago. That router jig was very interesting. I ruined a bushing for my 1/2 bit mid project and had to use guide rails. This jig would have been nice to use.
to hell with the ass biters Jimmy. I think the project turned out great you knew it would especially after holding on to those pans for 15 years LOL. I think it turned out awesome my friend keep on creating.
Very good job and the industrial look is beautiful. A very interesting thing is your leather screw caddy, looks useful. Have you a video talking abouth it? Thank you for share those ideas. Greetings from spain
hey jimmy its so crazy to see those bins i found some just like yours on the river bank there was about 10 but i could only salvage 2 and been sitting on them not knowing what to do with them. i was think a end table with a hickory top.
Such a great time hanging out this weekend. Thanks for picking up my Ice Pic for me when I left it on the table. I'll send you a message with my address. If needed I can send you a mailing label with postage.
I was at an auction and saw a bin like this using 9x9 metal cake pans. It was only 6 high using 2x10 for sides. I thought it was a good idea. I’m please to see you make this. It will last forever.

They make undersized router bits, but your solution is much more elegant. Those bins look super cool. Loved the video.
it's projects like these that remind me why Jimmy is the the best. That dado technique was simple and brilliant and it looks so bad ass!
It's always beautiful when something is hand built & yet has the uniformity & precision of a machine in the symmetry of the look.
I hate brass standard screws, but you made it work and it was the right choice for this. You the man Jimmy.

that jig is brilliant! just a little pre-planning saves a lot of time.

Diresta... The most thing i like in your vedios is this light speed yo do work with.... Well done Sie
Great one Jimmy...love saving things from the trash. Saving things for "future use" is a way of life.
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!
Awesome dado jig and very nice work, Jimmy!
Loving the dado slot tip. Good quick system!

That dado jig is fantastic. I'll definitely put that one in my mental toolbox. Thanks Jimmy

this is one of my favourite things you have made jimmy ! there is just something so perfect about the form and function that does it for me .
thanks for the share
Love it. I have a bunch of "Pullman" bread pans, four loaves, I'll now be doing something like this.
good job as usual. always enjoy watching you build
I love this project. I think that this and the tool drawer project would work well in my art studio. Your efficiency ratio fills my little O.C.D. heart with glee.
I like how the edge banding looks. Cool project.
I like the steel face frame Jimmy. Fits the look of the bins well.
great video thanks for teaching me about metal blackener. used it on some brackets for a bed and turned out great.
Diresta is the king!! :)
I hit the like 20 seconds in! knew it was going to be awesome. Love when you do projects like this Jimmy!
Awesome Jimmy! Those brass screws set it off.
Love the look! Be interesting to see a tall rolling cabinet set into a steel tube fame.
Dig the dado guide idea, interesting approach that makes sense.
Love that dado router jig trick!
Man, i've watched a lot of your vids and let me tell you my man - you are a true talent!!!
Thankyou
this is the only sketch i did on this .. it was in the brain for as long as was holding the bin!!! 12-13 years Thank You!
After years of watching you ,this is the first time I've noticed your not using an old time radial arm saw ! You will have room for one in your new shop. :-)
I like the dado jig. Learn something new everyday!
Great project . love the face frame and brass detailing
Very cool Jimmy....Nice job
Wow, it's cool to see how those screws really made that thing pop!
I would have opted for less to save the effort.
JIMMY. ANOTHER GREAT JOB!!!!!!!!!
Fantastic Jimmy! Love the edge banding - I've logged that one and will be using it somewhere for sure. The bins themselves are very cool and you've used them to great effect - what else would we expect! :)
Awesome look on the finished piece!

Stunning. Great work as always!
That is so beautiful.
I have about 500 plastic "TSA bins" (they're rubbermaid commercial plastic bins) that needs something like this, but less cool... they'd look silly with a steel front with brass screws...
After have seen a ton of his vids, I still learn some tricks.

i wish i would have seen this video a few months ago. That router jig was very interesting. I ruined a bushing for my 1/2 bit mid project and had to use guide rails. This jig would have been nice to use.
