You can go into First Person if you zoom in enough. You can then walk around the sub and use any station you want. Its very immersive when silent running and trying to avoid destoyers.
I've been playing the EA of the game for years. Full release was yesterday and I'm playing it at this moment. I've sunk several hundred hours into it. If you like submarine games you really can't go wrong with this one. It's also got steam workshop support.
@@phillea708 I'd say it's pretty easy to get into. The devs have made it so that you don't need to engage with complicated mechanics and micromanagement if you don't want to. For example, there is an entire mechanic that revolves around micromanagement of your crews work schedules and duties. But you can choose not to have that active and there is no penalty for not using the system. Another great example is the torpedo launch system. With the final release of the game they added what's called a torpedo data computer, or TDC. You can play with buttons, knobs and dials to manually enter the firing solution to your torpedo once you've done all the calculations for your shot. I'll be honest, I have no idea how to use the thing. It may as well be magic to me. But the use of it is entirely optional. Other simplified methods of getting your firing solution are available. And if you don't want to think about aiming yourself the npc's can do it for you. Bottom line is much of the complex mechanics are entirely optional. But are there for enthusiasts.
This looks like a PC version of a boardgame I have called Uboot, it doesnt get to the table as much as I would like, so having a PC game to get the experience is right up my alley
Excellent game! I just finished attacking Scapa Flow, I sunk a carrier, a battleship, a destroyer and 8 fast attack boats... what a ride! Too shallow to dive so after sinking the BB and CV the destroyer attacked causing a lot of damage but I managed to cripple it's propeller then surfaced and took out the attack boats with the deck gun.
I have PC with i7 7700 3,6GHz, GTX 1060 6GB and 16GB RAM and it should run smoothly. Maybe not on max settings but it should run it. But it's not. I have freezing every few second and I don't know how to fix it :( Any ideas???
I finished a tutorial and first couple of missions. Im enjoying it alot. And it seems I only just dipped my toes in it. Im gonna switch to hardcore and go full realistic. Its also my first submarine themed game.
What I often tell people is this is a great game if you have a limited amount of time to game in or are looking for something to play for an hour or two and then put it down. The repetitiveness is much less of an issue if you run a patrol or two and then put the game down for some time and then come back. Super enjoyable though, I think it strikes a very good balance of giving you the more "arcade" mode where you basically dont have to manage the crew at all if you don't want to and can get away with basically having your captain do the torp solution work for you and giving you the autismfest that is the "full experience". The nice thing is if you play on the more arcade settings, leaning how to give your officers contextually important orders, even if you have autocrew management, is very very useful. Like forcing your radioman onto the hydrophone when stalking a target before you get in visual range or ordering your officer onto the deck gun. If you learn to plot your own torpedo courses you will find out that it is very immersive because it makes you FEEL like a captain calculating a torpedo solution because your ability to get the details right can be the difference between torpedoing 4 freighters at once almost simultaneously and horribly missing, hitting a corvette, and then the GTA5 wanted meter slams straight into 5 stars. It also happens that manually doing the torp solutions makes it possible to launch torpedos at 4 targets without them knowing you are there. Meaning you learn to hit the convoy, mark your kills and leave dots on ships dead in the water, run like hell, then come back for the stragglers or hit them again when you have your tubes loaded. Learning that using your deck gun to pick off wounded freighters or unescorted freighters is really smart and efficient use of resources and saves precious torpedos. You find out that its almost always a good idea to just try to get the most tonnage possible on campaigns that ask for that in each patrol. You should almost always, if asked to do a patrol and have a tonnage sunk goal, never come back to port with any torpedos left if you can help it. Hunt till you run out of torpedos or fuel.
I've never understood your titles - is it saying " Is this worth your time and money?" or is it making a statement saying that it is? Do you only post positive reviews?
Yes its providing an answer to that statement "is it worth your time...". Scarlet provides all types of reviews, he is not at all bothered tell you what he thinks of a game, the good and the bad.
I bought this game but I’m in a bit of a conundrum. I’m stuck in enemy territory out of gas and out of battery so what do I do now? Guess the developers did not think of this situation. I’m also playing with as little realism as possible. When I tried to radio for resupply it told me no one is in range and to go back to base lol. Umm like how?🤔 there is not even an option to abort mission. Also no battery means no more radio. I hate to lose the progress on my men as I completed several missions before this happened. So any ideas as to what I do? I don’t think the devs thought about this situation.
Annoyingly, getting used to frequent saves and reverting to the last one is sometimes necessary in simulations. I mean, in real life this would be game over. So at least you get another try, hopefully from not too far back.
i've played uboat like 3 years ago i think. is it the same missions as before? what things are different? i really like that game only it's wasn't fun when game stops at the end of the war lol
The war ends in the game makes sense it's ww2 but for the game to end should be the player choice for example maybe the should add a mode for people to continue playing a lone sub still active but not taking orders until you die obviously you wouldn't be ale to go to any port so you have to salvage
