@@t.r.4496 Easy. The game scales a bit poorly, if you have a perfect schedule of two sailors on navigation + engines for the 50% fuel consumption reduction buff, you can go all the way from the port of Narvik to the end of the Mediterranean no problem, you will still have more than 50% fuel left on a Type VII I think, and that's on half speed, not even one third. Add to that the fact that you can unlock the AI Milk Cow/Type XIV (it's a modified Type IX) to resupply. This is where the game gets a bit unrealistic and patrols generally last about a week for me so I have above 80% fuel left in my tank. Three business days of navigating to a grid, within a day finding a convoy, another three business days to go back home after shooting all the torpedos. The swedish merchant vessel Lagaholm was a merchant ship with a regular route of Baltimore - New York - Kirkwall - Gothenburg - Malmö, importing mostly general goods and metals hard to find on the Swedish market at the time such as Brass and Copper. Today I had a close encounter, I attacked a convoy heading for Liverpool and sank about 7 ships. However, I tried to go too close to the last one while trying to escape from his escort, and he crashed into me from the side in the line of the tower. The diesel engine, the deck gun, the anti-aircraft defenses were destroyed, causing leaks in several places, and during the sinking, that particular cargo ship almost fell on top of the submarine, it just reached the stern, but did not cause any more damage. I was lucky enough to have enough spare parts for most of the repairs, with the exception of the engine, after a couple of hours the water was pumped out and I managed to get back to the port.
You should use some reputation points at the Commanding officer 'favors' to get a 6th officer slot (only cost 1). Really great when you get some officers with linguist traits.
Instead of the 3.15 method you can simply measure the distance traveled in 60 seconds and multiply it by 60. Lets say a freighter moves 234 meters in 60 seconds, you multiply 0.234 x 60 = 14.04 km/h or 7knots

My dad served on the Destroyer escort USS Fogg during the battle of the Atlantic. She was torpedoed by the Uboat U870. The ship was severely damaged but did not sink, 14 men were lost. A lot of times, the Uboat would target the escort first . I often think if the torpedo had hit more midship instead of near the stern, I probably would not be here writing this. =.
Been playing sub sims since the first Silent Hunter. I am absolutely in love with this game. The developer has done such a wonderful job. Many things we could add of course but I would love to see a multiplayer.
I think more ship & U-Boat models/varients to start, to give a bit more variety and authenticity to the game. After that, an online "wolfpack attack" multiplayer would be so SWEET.
I am confounded that Wolf never shoots at two targets with the farthest first so the torpedoes hit close enough together that there is no chance of evasive action.
In this case, the angle of impact for the torpedo being launched at the far ship would be poor and would likely result in a dud. I attack multiple targets at one time frequently in SH3 when the situation allows for it.
@@Wolfpack345I have to ask did I miss something last I saw you were infiltrating Belfast and getting back to port on fumes how did you end up in the Atlantic
We know a knot is 100 meters in 3:16 (or 100 yard in exactly 180 seconds). We know our torpedoes run at 30 kts, that is 3 km in 3:16. We know the distance to the ship, say 1000 m, the torpedo runtime would be 1000 m / (3000 m / 196 s) = 65 s. How far does the ship move at 1 kts (faster or slower) in 65 s? 65 s * (100 m / 196 s) = 33 m How long is the ship? > 100 m? At 100 m length we got +/- 50 m until we miss the target. At that range, we will hit with being 1 knot off (and distance does not matter when the torpedo needs no turning and is at 90° to the ship’s course.) We do not need to correct for speed , but it does not hurt, either.
So glad I invested early into this game. I rarely do it, but I had a ton of confidence with the developers, especially considering how much they had already done up to that point.

Wasn‘t the German Cross in Gold only introduced relatively late in the war, in part for the Panzertruppen which (unlike other branches) did not give out Ritterkreuze for quantity of kills? So like, other branches automatically gave out a Ritterkreuz for shooting down X number of planes or sinking x tonnage of ships, but the armored forces only gave it out if a superior officer saw you win a big tactical success due to personal heroism and chose to recommend you. As a result, even extremely successful tankers were generally left with no big medal to show for it; which is where the German Cross comes in to remedy that.

I would like to say that I like a game with a realistic quality of simulation. At first I admit, I did not like this game at all, yes it looks nice, but that alone doesn't cut it. I became frustrated at one point and removed this game from my computer. When they put the TDC in, I reluctantly put the game back in, and I got a surprise. Not only do I recommend this game now, I will keep an eye out for this dev team in the future. They obviously kept up on the effort to make this game, what may become a classic. After some time off from work (well deserved time off), I am hopeful that they give consideration to expand their success with possibly a pacific fleet boat of WWII, including the obvious US boats, but also maybe Russian, Italian, or any other platform of that era. Even if they are sold as addons, or as a type of expansion. Thats how good this game is now. Bravo guys, you have my attention now. Also, of course, its not just the TDC that did it, but a few other very nice things also like being able to fire the torpedo from several diffent locations, and other fine point issues.
IIRC at the very beginning of the war they did help survivors, even towing them to a neutral port. But as they radioed about the attack, after a while enemy warships/planes would arrive, so they stopped doing it. Also Hitler ordered the unrestricted war.
I got to update and see if they finally fixed the custom keybind mapping that was broken for the past 5 or 6 years or however long it was in development.
A great example of a game that did Early Access the right way. This game has improved a ton, and I am totally addicted to it now.

Hey wolfpack. Your videos are as amazing as they can get! Been watching you for a minute and I can easily say you are one of the best creators of this niche. In fact, you are what motivated me to start my own channel based on MILSIM games. I wish you good luck and keep moving forward with your uploads, as they are pure gold! Quality is what defines you
10:26 Maibe we can use the survived man for some intel, I hope not directly to the SS becouse the use some emm invasive methods
0:06, this submarine move like a boat....unrealistIc.
This looks fun. It would be cool if there was a game like this where you could be sailing a pirate ship.
this game has come a long way since its release,
i bought it on its release whilst still heavily engaged with SH3 & have not really played it since loosing my data due to updates so have not resumed as i do not want to go through that again, however with videos like this it makes the game that more enticing to want to play as it looks gorgeous, great looking game the more i watch.
you are scratching my itch for u-boat stuff. Tryed to find som good u-boat movies the other day, none to be found witch i had already not seen. So thanks!
This and SH3 have been on my wishlist forever, since U-boat was finally released I'll be getting it as soon a possible
@@peacemaker9046 there is or was a discount on steam for it.
I’ve been itching and scratching for more uboat content after full release!! Keep it up!!
You got me with the Das Boot Simulator! LOL Good job Captian.
Nice job Wolfpack, this game has come a long way since I started watching you play it
Ive always wondered how the real u boat captains in real life did the calculation/check of the target speed. I kinda doubt they were able to go in to 3rd person, add a mark, wait and put another mark and het the exact distance to get the speed :D
I keep thinking I’m not big brained enough to play these games where you’re doing charting and TMA stuff.
Wolfpack is thankfully much better
Hm there was at least two Swedish ships in that convoy, Liana and Lagaholm, and you failed to sink them both. If I didnt know any better, I would say the Swedish ships were cursed/protected by the divine. Oh and as a swede Im deeply offended (not really).
I suppose it's optional, but there must be a reason for having a ships Captain when you are clearly in command. Without knowing the reason, I would think that assuming the role of Captain is probably more rewarding.
There's a radio station where you can listen to the Tipperary song. Peak Das Boot indeed.
Game looks so good now! The graphics updates are just a chefs kiss.
The Swedes got lucky twice.
The Torpedoes know we were neutral (ignore my name, I'm actually Swedish)
For a split second I thought to opening shot of the pistons in the engine room where the guys legs moving fast as he leaned against the wall
Now all we need is a good "Greyhound" simulator. Hunting Uboats while managing a destroyer crew would be cool
already a game like that. Calleed Destroyer i believe
@@TristanMurcia ahh thanks for letting me know. ill have to search it up
@@TristanMurcia Destroyer: The U-Boat Hunter. Crew manages itself - no cook to make treats for the crew or machinist to make the engines run faster/better/more efficient, but you get to play with ASDIC, mapping, tracking, steering, radar, guns, commanding other escorts, air support, etc almost as much or as little as you prefer.
It is a bit arcad-y with the U-Boat density - in the same way time compression is and in the same way you somehow always find targets to sink in any sub sim, where in reality you often came back after 4, 6, 8 weeks patrol empty handed with no ships found.
I love your gameplay of uboat watching your vids have taught me so much with the game and has allowed me to play more and more realistically! Cheers !
this felt like SH5 rekindled, now if only there's a UBOAT and cold waters collab, that would be something
I look forward to this, SH3, and War on the sea, all week.
11:50 O yessa kaboom 💥
Imagine you are a sailor on the Swedish ship and hear a big loud DONG when the dud impacts. Horrifying!
At least you made a dent in the Swedish ship.
I haven't played a sub game since Silent Hunter III. I need to check this one out.
Waiting for Silent Hunter 5.
You should really go check out the wolfpack community and our wolfpack 30 player events, that is the true sub sim experience
That’s funny bc I live next to La Rochelle !
Nice video 👌
I hope see this game in PS5
Rudy, I am not even into MTG, but I love your vids... they are an fascinating and entertaining amalgamation of Dutch Uncle advice and Market wisdom. This is better than any MBA class I have taken. Keep it up (despite the diminishing returns). Great fiscal and life advice.
this would make a perfect star trek theme in space also
Love the way you pronounce Wolfgang 😀. Nice Video and greetings from Germany
Lagaholm. Built 1929 in Gothenburg. Sunk by German U-boat U-32 1940.
They need to tweak how the sub moves through the water in various sea states. In calm water, it porpoises too much.
If you want to rack up big point slip into new york... the statue of liberty is the harbor. ..its also docks and ships... but there are mines when trying to pass lady liberty. Heading close to Manhattan....just wanted to put that out😅... happing hunting fellow u boaters
I was never a fan of Type II UBoots until your videos
U-boat series again would be so good
Picked this up a few weeks ago really cheap. I think I have had an update almost EVERY day so far! Just loaded Steam, and another one is ready!
The shark paint is for the eels, not the bow. I came here from your silent hunter Mediterranean series. You have a quality channel.
Thank you Admiral!
Really looking forward to @Wolfpack345 next adventures with this game. So far the game is very fun to play and modding community will make it even better. Hoping to get some good tutorial!
Cool they got the WWII drone cameras right .. :)
The weather effects look very good!
Even though I'm an aviation guy, I really enjoy these U-Boat/Silent Hunter playthroughs. Any chance of seeing a Das Boot U-96 style campaign?
I think it is time to revisit my UBOAT. Love the videos!
I see you have the supporter pack. Good man!
As a Swede, I'm satisfied that you screwed up the second attack. 😂
RIP U48! Love your U-boat series. Keep em coming!
BTW - Did you ever get round to doing a TDC tutorial?
Coming soon! It is being more comprehensive than I originally planned
@@Wolfpack345 Awesome! You make it look so simple in your vids. I fumble around, guess, miss, get frustrated! Cant wait! 👍 Thank you
The intro might make one think our Type II-D is a submarine BB class 😅
It's still no Silent Hunter 4. Waiting for the next subsim.
At 7:19 , you don´t stay put? It looks perfect to just wait for them to just get closer and then pick the targets but i´m just wondering, thanks for the show of this game.
I got all excited at the thought of a new subsim. Great video though. I love my TDC.
Remember when games could never make the water look real?
Luv this content WP!
Keep it coming! 🍻
its cool watching the tom hanks greyhound movie after playing this.
Normally, German U-boats didn't picked survivors. Flyboys were the exception though.
What is a Flyboy?
@@gergocsanadi4770 pilots i think
Yes. Enemy pilot is a (potentially) very valuable source of intel for the HQ.
@@JustPeasant Okay got it, thanks for the info!
IIRC at the very beginning of the war they did help survivors, even towing them to a neutral port. But as they radioed about the attack, after a while enemy warships/planes would arrive, so they stopped doing it. Also Hitler ordered the unrestricted war.
Can you play this First Person as the captain? some of the views are immersion breaking.
You mean the live-updating map? Yep, that is immersion breaking as it is completely impossible with the technology of the time.
Just found your channel love the vids keep it up
a reupload? i swear i heard the same reaction to the swedish vessel before
he shot (and missed) the same freighter in the previous video already :D
I got to update and see if they finally fixed the custom keybind mapping that was broken for the past 5 or 6 years or however long it was in development.
Nice! What game is this?
Is this purely vanilla, or are mods used?
