I know it is easy for me to say sitting at home with 4-walls and conditioned air, LOLs! I love how you discuss and point out the animal life surrounding your great Country. I’ve been thinking about a solar powered boat for awhile now the right setup you have a huge range

    • @phillipvanrooyen3052
      @phillipvanrooyen3052 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Andysfishing Our Solar setup, except for the MPPT charge controller is probibly the cheapest possible. 2 x 12V/100A/h lead acid deep cycle batteries and 12V trolling motors. We do not rely on the batteries for range, it is eccentialy a solar powered boat. On our latest expedition we traveled 46km's to our destination, started cruising at 07H00 AM, until 15H00 PM. Cruising in sunshine it was possible to cruise until after 17H00 and then we would have clocked over 50km's for the day. We have a cheap but least effecient system. Yet, it is practical. Upgrade options are many. To gain 4 x more effeciency on my current setup is to simply switching to a 24V system, and that is what I will do in the near future.
      If money is not a problem one may use high voltage electrical outboard motors(72V) and litium iron batteries rated in KW/Hours. This will give enhanced performance and even night cruising possibilities.

    • @phillipvanrooyen3052
      @phillipvanrooyen3052 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      What I failed to mention, for our solar powered boat we use 4 x 260W solar panels, giving a potential of 1 kw of power. It is a converted 6m yacht with the keel shortened and 2 pontoons added to the sides for stability and safety. Average speed obtained was 6km/h.

    Hello from Oklahoma. Dude! I think you just took it to a new level. What a great episode! Love the longer format and absolutely loved the kayak fishing! I'd love to see a multi day episode hitting multiple islands in the kayak. I do a lot of kayak fishing, I love the intimacy with the water and the environment when I fish from a yak. Those GT's were epic! (Side note: I have always had it drummed into me to always wear my PFD, doesn't do any good in the hold if you come out of the boat and get separated, same for your Inreach/Spot/Sat Phone and a rescue knife on the PFD.) Maybe you could do an episode on how to stay safe and minimize risk when your out on your own like that. Looking forward to the next episode.

    • @Andysfishing
      @Andysfishing  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good safety points. I would stay with the yak if anything happened, it’s pretty water right. Multi days in the kayak islsnd hooping would be cool.

    As a former owner of more then few different breeds I can tell you it really does not matter what breed it is. Dogs are bonded to us and vice versa in a very special way and that sort of friendship is made possible by thousands of years of co-evolution.

    • @Andysfishing
      @Andysfishing  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree with you on part, but there are major differences in dog breeds. Some have limited cognitive ability and other will get into any car with anyone.

    Two weeks ago I had to remove my trim rams as one was leaking. Sent both for seal kits and they came back Schmicko. After two trips out the ram that wasn’t originally leaking developed a leak.
