  • Watch next - Beach camping, catching & Cooking 🔥🥗🐟 • Solo Beach Camping - C... 🐟🥗🔥 Ep.500
    Watch me catch 🎣 MONSTER 🐠 fish. I paddle to a deserted island in my ocean kayak for a solo camping adventure where I catch and cook some delicious fish. I also capture a big Golden Trevally, a nice Coral Trout, whaler Shark and a Monster Giant Trevally aka GT. I have a fire on the beach and sleep in a tent on this desert island.

    Hello from Oklahoma. Dude! I think you just took it to a new level. What a great episode! Love the longer format and absolutely loved the kayak fishing! I'd love to see a multi day episode hitting multiple islands in the kayak. I do a lot of kayak fishing, I love the intimacy with the water and the environment when I fish from a yak. Those GT's were epic! (Side note: I have always had it drummed into me to always wear my PFD, doesn't do any good in the hold if you come out of the boat and get separated, same for your Inreach/Spot/Sat Phone and a rescue knife on the PFD.) Maybe you could do an episode on how to stay safe and minimize risk when your out on your own like that. Looking forward to the next episode.

    • @Andysfishing
      @Andysfishing  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good safety points. I would stay with the yak if anything happened, it’s pretty water right. Multi days in the kayak islsnd hooping would be cool.

    Looking at the Price card and seeing those prices for the gear is crazy expensive $12.99 AUS for a pack of ZMan plastics, Thats roughly $10 USD. Where as in the states its roughly $7 AUS around $4-$5 USD per packet. Is fishing equipment much more expensive in Australia?

    • @Andysfishing
      @Andysfishing  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, we pay a lot for gear. Ridiculous in many cases, like $100 for a big quality popper.

    Watching this in early February 2021 in the UK after nearly a year of Covid lockdowns and infection waves.
    It's been snowing on and off for the past 24 hours and it's -2deg outside.
    I can see my Ocean Kayak all wrapped up in the back garden under 5cm of snow.
    I'm not jealous. Really I'm not.
    Honestly.

    • @Andysfishing
      @Andysfishing  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ha ha funny you’re just supportive of me being able to do it when you’ve got snow on your kayak, ha ha. Sure is tough times for some people I couldn’t imagine being locked down and snowed in it would be terrible.

    Two weeks ago I had to remove my trim rams as one was leaking. Sent both for seal kits and they came back Schmicko. After two trips out the ram that wasn’t originally leaking developed a leak. Took it off before watching this video and it’s back to Mercruiser for a warranty job on Tuesday!!! 👍🏻👍🏻🎣🎣🍺🍺🇦🇺🇦🇺

      It’s the first tilt Ram I’ve had a leak in 30+ years, the motors got less than 1000 hours on it but I guess these things happen I hope you get your stick soon and out on the water again

    Wow another fantastic video Andy ...huge effort with the GT from the yak ... my first Longtail last season in my Hobie Outback was a 107 m fish that near towed me to New Caledonia taking 30 plus minutes to land ....I can't imagine doing that with a paddle kayak siting hands free not paddle as essential with a tuna. I loved you reminiscing about you childhood freindship with your dog ... special memories.

    Another video worthy of 1 million+ views, getting towed around by monster GT takes the cake!!!...Amazing how much stuff you can fit on that little kayak, i just hope you don't encounter any rough weather cause it doesn't look too secure!... I think you could edit a bit more and reduce the content and it would make the video more viewable...I found myself fast forwarding through a few sections...Please name the motor repairer you used for the benefit of others?..BTW what was the brand of that rod you used to catch the GT..hopefully the distributor gives you free product for testing...once again great adventure...looking forward to you re-visiting in your boat

    • @Andysfishing
      @Andysfishing  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I know what you say about cutting the video links down but then it’s hard to decide which bits to cut out, the motor repairer is the agent in my town that services those engines, I don’t want to mention names but he is the actual dealer for my engine. I think I did mention the name of the rod and reel combo that I caught the GT and you probably skipped over that part. And yes I will be back there in my boat sometime soon

    37:55 that much seaweed is nothing compared to beaches around Perth. We get 1 meter high mountains of seaweed that go for hundreds of meters at times. Makes it impossible to fish off of the beach when there's that much weed.

    Andy, I loved this video. Using the kayak, overnighter, multiple fishing venues were great. My thought of intersperse using the kayak, catch and cook, also do a two-nighter. I know it is easy for me to say sitting at home with 4-walls and conditioned air, LOLs! I love how you discuss and point out the animal life surrounding your great Country. With all the islands in the vicinity helps you try new places to fish, explore, and cook. Thanks once again

Nice GT bud Caught a very large Maori Wrass 55kg right where you let that monster GT go there 27 years ago .(before we knew about they paired for life )Is that "Cod Worm in the roe if so its ok to eat once cooked not raw . Just seems wrong though .And yes take a few days to check it out go slow like kayak speed around the fringing reefs very nice just make sure you take 24 of 8 hours as the ramp , well you know .

    That was one if not your best video yet Andy had a bit of everything, was amazed at the amount of gear you mange to cram into your kayake,.Thought it was a Tardis (afterthought, if you haven't seen Dr Who you will have no idea what i'm talking about!) at first so glad you explained all at the end.
    One gripe I have to make, I am seemingly not a true fan, despite watching all of your videos over the years (one reason being here in England I cannot hope to fish the magical places you do) because I haven't completed the 'fish with you survey' mainly because I cannot afford guided fishing tours, even in my own country. Does that mean all non rich subscribers are non true fans?

    • @Andysfishing
      @Andysfishing  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Off course I know doctor who. I hear they had one of the lowest budgets but most successful show. The true fans reference is from an article that says anyone can make a living from 1000 true fans. Don’t be offended, I value everyone, regardless of your circumstances.
