Yes The Monk, this book doesn't get talked about nearly enough.

Nobody talks about it! Maybe I've seen one person mention it.

This was probably the best Halloween Rec video I've seen this year. Awesome choices!

Definitely gonna check out some of these.
I'm iffy on Letter format books. Sometimes they're great, other times it's like a cop out. It's like the found footage of literature.

I've read plenty of shitty letter format books, it's a hard one to get right.

I always love when I see new video's from you because I enjoy many of the same genres as you and not many Book Tubers have recommendations like yours. Interested in checking out The Penguin Book Of Witches and The Case Against Satan. Your hair has gotten so long too btw.

Have you ever read anything by Thomas Ligotti? "Teatro Grottesco" is one of my all-time favorite books. Very dark, bleak, atmospheric prose. Also, W.H. Pugmire is a great Lovecraftian writer to check out. Some of his stuff is available online. He's just so fucking bizarre.

Definitely check out "Melmoth the Wanderer" if you like gothic horror about satanic pacts and a story within a story style of writing. One of my favorites for sure.

Love your videos, such great tips! I really wanna read more horror. Shirley Jackson is a favourite! I read 'Salem's Lot three years ago and loved it! It was so quick and thrilling. I need more good vampire books. Any ideas? Love Interview with the vampire.

Glad you liked the video! I haven't read a lot of vampire books but my favourite is Dracula. It's written as if it's a modern book rather than a classic.

Have you ever read anything by Thomas Ligotti? I'm currently reading the Penguin Classics bindup of Songs of a Dead Dreamer and Grimscribe and it's wonderful. Very atmospheric existential horror.

Thanks for talking about 'The Monk'. It's one of my favorite books ever. I have to disagree with you though; I quite liked the writing style and I don't think it was slow at all. I thought that there was so much stuff going on. It took me longer to read this book than others because it was so plot heavy and so many things were happening.

I was so excited to read haunting of hill house but when I read it I was heavily disappointed. I felt like it wasn't scary at all and nothing actually happened.
