There is nothing like finding books you want at a second hand/thrift store. Its such a shot of serotonin! I look forward to hearing what you think of The Summer I died, I read it somewhat recently. Do you think you might start reading extreme horror? I mean like Judith Sonnet sort of horror. I also found a used copy of Heart Shaped Box and look forward to reading it.
What a haul, you do really feel like you have won the lotto when you find books you have been looking for in second hand shops! ❤
It's so true! I'm so addicted to the hunt for second hand books, I'm officially on a charity shop ban until the new year because I've just hoarded so many books 😂
@@RGsDevilship hoarding them is half the fun! :D
The A M Shine book has been on my list since it came out ~ love the look of its staining. What a great haul! So many wonderful books! That's a great edition of The Girl Next Door.
Our snowmen souls remember Valley Forge.
Our breath the canon smoke of winter’s past.
Our frozen fingers bend the taffy torn
and share the pieces on this frigid path.
Were poorer humans really meant to freeze?
Thy cheeks inspired macarons to pink;
thy face reminds the rich we need some heat!
but pleads for fire’s chatter on the bricks.
We all deserve a palace fireplace,
a hall to dance beneath their chandeliers.
Our snowflake faces blizzard at their gates,
the guiIIotine in the distance blurs.
Oh but for now you’re pretty in thy rags
because there’s plenty that thy face can ask
-one of my sonnets
Yeah, agreed : most of the gore-hounds in horror fiction tend to put me off as well - I tend to go for the more subtle type of horror story - but Clive barker knew how to make this stuff work; he has a balanced writing style, a light humorous touch, & doesn't bore you with over-the-top descriptions of the terrible things that happen to his protagonists - he focuses on keeping the story moving instead.
His earlier books, like the six volume short story collections titled The Books of Blood, & his 1st novel : The Damnation Game, were horror, while most of his later books tended to be fantasy & magical realism.
& somewhat surprisingly, he wrote a sequel to The Helbound Heart - titled The Scarlet Gospels...
When I allow myself to buy some new books again, I'm definitely going to be stocking up on some more Barker's works.
"Shit doesn't work out for him." Certainly been there a time or two. Well done on the book haul. Definitely going to try and pick up a copy of The Watchers.
I recently read A. M. Shine's newer book The Creeper and that was good too if you like cult vibes
I used to love haunted, i would like to reread it to see if it keeps the same vibe so many years later :O
I'm wondering exactly the same thing, if it still holds up and will I find it more disturbing now than I did years ago 😂
Oooh can't wait to watch this!
I discovered Robert McCammon this month and read his novel Gone South this week. Absolutely love his wordsmithing and he held my attention from beginning to end. One of those reads where you feel empathy for the main characters and don't want it to end. I actually like him better than Stephen King.
He's still an author I've yet to read. So happy that you've found a new favourite! 🥳
Some great pickups in this haul. Quite interested in checking out "the summer i died" now. Can't say i have heard of it until watching video, sounds quite grim but hopefully entertaining with it and not too much throwaway shock value!.
Lovely, another list. I think I will try The Watchers next, sounds like my thing.
It's a good little claustrophobic read
Very nice!
awesome haul 📖
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it 😊🖤
Nice video! I'm not much of a Horror fan but I like to learn about new books. Have a good Thanksgiving.
Well thank you, I appreciate you checking out the video regardless of taste. Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
I loved Heart shaped box!!!
Its great and fast passed. I read it all in one day. Im sure you will love it. Ps i love your videos!!
Okay I'm going to pick it up as soon as I can because I need to read something that I can be glued to! It's been so long since I read a book in a day. Thanks for your encouragement! 🖤
what moves the dead is getting a sequel and im very intrigued by where it goes from here :)
I saw yeah! Same and glad to have another book to look forward to in the new year 😊
I read the title.
My brain plays back "Thrift Shop" by Macklemore.

I’m selling Sharp Objects on my Vinted, if you’re interested. It’s secondhand :)
We don't have Vinted in Ireland yet 😭
