I never comment on youtube videos but I just have to say, these are the reviews I look forward to the most. Actual cases where youtubers use the product for an extended period instead of just spewing out key facts and figures of which there are hundreds of videos online. Discussing even the smallest things like whether or not screen protectors work, how social media pictures may differ across devices, how the battery and camera have held up over time etc. (and finally a big youtube actually talking about glue gate) are what matters at the end of the day when using a device daily so thanks and keep up the good work!
It's taken 6 sets for me to get one that doesn't have the screen bleed issues around the edges which has been caused by the bad LG screens in the early batches. I stuck with the phone because it's amazing. Finally got a good one last Friday and fully set it up. There's little to complain about. I love EMUII!
But, Huawei should have had a product recall for the screen bleed problems instead of using their customers to weadle out the bad units.
How long does it take for the gluegate issue to happen? Ive had my phone for a 10 days and am just worried

@Humam GFE I've got it, it fits in the hand very well and doesn't feel like a 7 inch phone because of how well designed it is. It's a tall phone but it's not to wide.
And I also love the fact that I can stick it in my shirt chest pocket and secretly film with the wide lens

I wrote to huawei because of the gluegate problem (my phone was also affected) and they just send me a new one with the BOE Display instead of one from LG. Now I have this amazing phone with an amazing Display and no green on the edges anymore
who did you write to? what email. I issue my phone and customer care didn't care or offer solution refuse accept the phone manufactor issue.be great is they did listen

I fell absolutely in love with the phone over the past month, but now I'm happy my provider didn't have it when I wanted it. Too many units with glue gate (green would appear even after a week or two of use), almost no options for replacement (Huawei doesn't seem to be providing enough units to Telenor). One thing that's strange to me are those scratch marks "just from pockets" on a Gorilla Glass 5, while my HTC 10 with GG3 has only one scratch from my keys that were in my pocket 50% of the time in the past 2 years. So many things are inconsistent with this phone, and each YTuber has a different story. I'll just have to wait a while to connect all the dots. Thanks for the review, btw. :)
you have dodged a bullet by avoiding getting one, mine is only 2 weeks old and it took the slightest of falls onto a wooden floor and cracked the screen, even with a good case on it. £319 :-(

THANK YOU for bringing up Gluegate. Most TH-camrs have either been ignorant to it or have ignored it. It still blows my mind that Huawei has still not given any kind of statement on it. I imported mine from Singapore and Huawei told me that in order to get mine replaced I would have to send it to a friend in Singapore so they can take it to a service center because they don't do international service. SMH. Thats a shame. So don't import this phone you'll be SOL. Great video as always!

I also got mate 20 pro with greenish screen. But i already got replacement set from huawei. Screen is nice but you definitely need to have screen protector. Btw i'm coming from Note 9 to mate 20 pro for its fast charging and awesome photos

However after watching your video I feel that the durability may be an important factor to consider not so good or poor for my phone. I need to be careful with it.

I had used the Mate 10 Pro. It was a great phone. I couldn’t wait to buy a Mate 20 Pro when it was launched. It is really a fantastic experience to use it. The fast charging, stamina, quick and smooth response and photo quality are none to second.

I've had my Mate20Pro, 3yrs. It was $675, & an extra $600 for 3 screen replacements ltr, I now run w a $30 Spigen case. U really need a solid case & gd screen protector. Baby it.

One day Cell phone company's will make a real good phone with good cameras and good software. Glass is good and not so good. We all have our own favorite part of a phone. But most new phone's are just good enough. But once in awhile the smartphone companies make something amazing.
Expanding the notifications on the lock-screen isn't a swipe gesture, you have to press, not swipe, the downward arrow. When unlocked, you can swipe in the notification menu.
But that doesn't take away the fact it is inconsistent, but on the other hand, it can be fixed with a software update.
Can you upload that 1:52 photo anywhere so I can download it ? I've never seen a better wallpaper photo than that one, literally
if you are affected of gluegate, write huawei. they will send someone to your front door exchanging yours with a flawless one.
even if you havent noticed that you are affected of it and it is only slightly visable it will get worser with time ongoing. after 1-2months your screen will completely shine green.
i on my own was affected by this and had to wait 2 weeks until i got a new one.
Wouldn't u say the regular Mate 20 is a better deal? No screen issues, speaker isn't in the USB C port and battery life is still amazing. That's what I'm leaning towards at least...

@@alirezaeftekharzade4924 I use my phones for media and gaming. I prefer the stereo speakers over the terrible bottom firing one on the 6T. Also it has a certified splash resistance and bigger screen. And the cameras are still way better than the 6T.
I actually purchased this phone for my wife in 2019 because after testing daily results from taking photos, the iPhone 11 pro max, galaxy s10 and Pixel 3 devices, photos still failed to top what this device can produce! I attribute a lot of that to software but the shots captured without editing are incredible, not to mention battery life!
So glad I went with the note 9 over this. Wish I had the camera and the fast charging but I haven't had a Samsung since when the s6 edge first came out and since using the note i dont think I'll ever be able to live without scroll capture, smart select and the s pen!

did not really like it cause battery life was terrible and a lot of screen burn issues. I wanted to try a different brand like apple, huawei or oppo. But there is something about Samsung phones that keeps make me buying them. Especially the note series. I cant seem to stop using that fucking amazing pen haha
plus the headphone jack which i seem to use a lot more than the wireless headphones
@@peterambrose2148 this is my first note series I've ever had! Always said they were too big but they're really not! I usually get a new brand phone every time I get an upgrade just to keep things different. I had iPhones from the 3g to the 5sand got so bored having the same phone in a newer case i said I'd do that to mix it up. Think i will stay with the note for a while tho. Last phone I had was the Xperia xz premium and it was definitely an underwhelming experience. Different is not always better!

Trust me, apart from night mode, the Note 9 camera is as good of a camera as the Mate 20, if not better. Especially video is a lot better.
I just got mine around a month ago and I love how responsive it is. Something that bothers me is it doesn't have volume slider on the quick access menu since I prefer to use the slider than the volume button (I'm afraid I'm gonna break the button somehow). I'm definitely curious about their p30 pro whether it's better or worse than the mate 20 pro. Gonna watch your review of that now!
Gluegate is a serious issue and not should be overlooked.
Had a Mate 20 Pro for a week and a half before it was pickpocketed and I have to say EMUI is nowhere near the experience you can get on a OnePlus phone. I can give up the camera, infrared sensor, and all the gimmicks for a software experience that doesn't leave me feeling disappointed with my expensive investment.
Is it really that impressive? I just hear wonders about the Oneplus software. RIght now I have a Mate 10 I bought last year and I´m happy with EMUI. But when it comes to comparison I just read people trashing over EMUI and praising Oneplus software... Is there something that makes it special beyond the speed? Btw sorry for that theft... D:

Download device hw info and u will find out if urs is LG or BOE screen. LG screen are the ones that are impacted. Especially batch 43 and 51. The last 2 digits and the back of screen info. Good luck

I'm so glad that You spoke about posting photos on social media issues. When I've first got my S9+, I saw that photos posted on Instagram for example looked blurry and just bad quality. Compared to my previous Huawei P9 they looked way much worse. Pics taken with a phone camera are great but those posted on social media are just worse. So to make them look more as the look on camera roll I have to adjust the ratio of them, for IG stories is 9:16 or 5:4, in Snapseed and then post the photo. It's the only way for pics to look better. Hope that It will change in the future.. I havent seen those issues with any apple devices, so... android users have hard time today.
IV had the mate 20 pro and traded it in for note 9 simply for s pen. Tbh I'm missing my mate. With a nova launcher it was unstoppable. It's certainly faster than the note , the camera is better and I think k the screen is every bit as good. I just needed the s pen otherwise I'd have stayed with the Huawei . Damn good phone. Best android, no actually the best phone available right now.

@@slandgkearth I wished I did. I was just easier swapping over. I love my note 9 but it's not as buttery smooth as the mate 20 pro or as fast. And the size of the mate is better in the hand. Both great phones but I think the mate 20 pro pips the note to better phone
Still using my mate 20 Pro, for over 2 years now & it's got the free extended warranty I claimed a while back, hopefully all will be good hopefully into 2023, any change was isn't yet broken.
I'll be honest, I really wish I had stock android on my P20 Pro.

Normally I'm pretty careful with phones and when I bought the mate 20pro I was extra careful with even using the case included with it yet from just the pocket it got multiple scratches even when nothing else was in my pocket so if anyone can help with the scratch problem any tips would be appreciated
I bought my note 8 since its release date and have been using it heavily as my daily driver with no scratches, and it only took you two months to break the screen!! WOW!!

Because most of it's problems can be fixed with software updates and the Note 9 is just an iterative update over the Note 8

5 years later, my friend and my son use this device as daily drivers and keep up with my S22Ultra just fine. That certainly explains the USA ban against Huawei: fear of superior competition.

I'm still using a mate 10 Pro... I stopped using Samsung phones because of the curved glass, I like having a tempered glass screen protector and a pretty good case on the phones that I buy, so once they start putting curved glass on everything I went looking elsewhere. It also failed in jerryrigeverything 's durability test.
I'll stick with the mate 10 Pro probably for another year I've had it for a year now and still working perfectly, I'm actually kind of surprised I haven't seen any battery degradation over a year of very heavy daily usage usage
The glass of the screen breaks easily. Have a look at the durability test done by Zack on his channel JerryRig Everything Huawei haven't perfected the curved glass yet. Samsung phones are better at that. Just to clarify - I am not a fan of any particular brand, I just like good phones with good features.
I am using a Note 9 currently because of the notchless screen and the presence of the headphone jack. And in my opinion the screen is better overall.

That's why my next phone will have plastic or metal back, flat screen, no curves. I have essential phone now, it's nice and solid, but already has a deep gouge on the screen, from where i don't know, was surprised since its gorilla glass 5, and always in pocket facing leg and ir in tray in vehicle.

I bought this as a gift for my fiance and I have both note 8and note 9. But after just playing with it for a day I would have changed my note 9 with it without any hesitation. Camera and face lock is on another level.

The Alarmy and Messenger notifications are stuck because of settings in the apps themselves, not the software. Chatheads are easily disabled, and "Next alarm" push notification on Alarmy is also easily disabled within the app. Irrelevant "problem" to include in the video.

To make the phone feel faster, enable the dev menu by repeatedly pressing the build number in the about page of settings. Go into the dev menu and set all the animations to 0.5x. It makes opening apps and folders etc. feel quick & snappy.
The photography is phenomenal but I didn’t like the software.
I have the Mate 20 Pro since October from last year and I absolutely Love it. I didn't have ANY problem at all. Of course, I switched from a Wiko Wiew, base model and First Gen, so this really is a Monster phone for me...

For the screen, try UV screen guard. It creates a perfect match between the guard and the screen by applying a UV glue in between them. Then the glue will be hardend by UV lighting for 3 minutes. We have this in China and it's the only perfect solution for curve screens

I use to the the huawei mate 10 pro to post my pictures on Instagram and had that issue. It's the color settings. Change it to "Photo" or "Standard". It's more natural and accurate.

Most of the problems mentioned here honestly are not just for this phone but for almost all phones that cost more than 1000$.
AMOLED always gets those green or yellow lights a few years later.Ask people who have used iPhone X. Their screens are now really awful. I still prefer IPS screens because of the horrible screen burn AMOLED or OLED screens will get in a near future.
As for cracks and so on, I feel too risky to use a 1000$ or more expensive phone outside and if I would, surely I'll use a screen protector and a case. That's why I use a budget phone (less than 250$) as my daily driver. Actually I'm planning to buy the Mate 20 Pro soon, but I'll use it just for gaming and the time when I need really good photos or videos and in case my daily driver suddenly dies.

Call me crazy, but I have not found a phone that I like more than the note 9. I've tried so many of them, I still go back to my note. It's just perfect for me. No issues at all
Just buy a Oneplus 6T for half price with all the specs you need. I still have my Oneplus 5 and just love it.
I've had my Huawei Mate 20 Pro since Christmas 2018 and I'm really happy with it so far. I haven't had any issues with the glueing of the screen for example.
One of the few issues I've had is the phone sometimes having problems with keeping apps open and another one being that social media sometimes has glitches.
I haven't had any scratches on the screen yet and the only thing that has have taken damage is the sides having very small scratches even though I've dropped the phone multiple times in multiple ways. I do use a wallet case which might be why it's still in great condition.

no, not really, but then the E.U and the U.K, will be mostly effected, which means Arun and other British and E.U TH-camrs cant post anymore videos without severe censorship, that also means that we can't really view their videos anymore too

In terms of screen protectors, try a "full glue" curved/fullscreen one, and thank me later! It's the best I ever got for my Note9, touch sensitivity doesn't get ruined, and there's no reflections like with those that stick only to the edges.

They ban Huawei because of their 5G network systems because Cisco, Nokia and Ericsson can't compete with Huawei, and some of the them just don't wanna Huawei to dominate the global 5G markets. Even though those so called "5 eyes" countries banned Huawei, Huawei is still the No.1 network device provider in the world. Kidnapping Huawei's CFO just made them look mean and low. No worries, Huawei is doing just fine without those markets, and it is still growing very fast.

I have to say, EMUI is one of the best looking skins to me, especially liked the frosted dark glass design in EMUI 4, and it has tons of features that I took for granted, as my first Android above 2.3 was a Huawei, now I'm on a Redmi, and I do miss a few features. Huawei did have a bit of a software mess on the 2017 P9 Lite though, with features removed from the software compared to the 2016 P9 Lite

@@Mori8636 Yes, and there are cases from every single manufacturer. Lithium-ion batteries have always been dangerous. People will always be occasionally hurt by them. Of course, the note 7 situation had a dramatically increased rate, but even Mate 20 and iPhone XS have blown up. It's rare, but not unheard of.

Wow. I blind-bought this phone when it came out in 2018 and not until now I'm planningon changing it.
Definitely the most durable smartphone I've ever owned. My screen originally had the glue gate, but Huawei changed my phone with no cost. Now is glitchy, blacks have green noise and whites some purple lines, but since it survived river presurized water for 2 hours straight I have no complains whatsoever. The phone is mint, the onky issue is the weird screen on certain bright levels and its death part on the left of the notch.
Just can't stand Huawei's software ugh

I bought two mate 20 pros had green screen issues with both got a refund and eventually got a one plus 6t - no regrets
Do not charge your phone and playing the music at the same time, the speaker wobble and apply the super fast charging could have more chance to damage the device for long-term.

Been a Sony user the last 7 years, with a Samsung S7 thrown in before going back to Sony.
Despite the quibbles, scratches on screen in the first week :( , saw the finger print reader in full sun today and it having to individually flick some apps off as they hang around with the trash button.
I do enjoy this phone, fast charge and battery life are awesome. I can game and carry on all day and not have to worry. I have only felt the phone get hot once while charging and gaming, compared to my past phones,.including the Samsung, that always got hot with gaming. Yeh I've turned into a consumer level Huawei fan, despite everything in the media in regards to infrastructure etc.
Do get a screen cover or full case for this phone before it arrives.
Today I just dropped my Mate 20 Pro in my room from one meter height. Although the ground was lamparquet (no edges, it is very smooth area) the display completely crashed. Now they want more than 300 Euro. DO NOT BUY a phone with very fragile and a very low quality screen. I am very dissappointed and angry. I will share this comment everywhere.
Maybe you should buy a screenguard.
@@gazturabin7566 you are right, I was planning to buy a protector for any case and I was really careful about it but this is not an EGG to be broken very easily.
All phones with a glass screen can break. Glass = glass. You were simply unlucky...Drop a Samsung or iPhone and they too will break. Remember, glass = glass. There is no super glass!
@@Samosayummyyay you are completely wrong. Most of phones have good display and they do not crash easily. Moreover they claim that they use Gorilla Glass 5 for the display but I do not believe that. It seems it is very cheap one. I will pay a lot of money and someone will come to say buddy it is glass, it is normal. This is not acceptable. One question, have you ever seen drop test for Mate 20 Pro on youtube? You cannot see because it is very fragile and it is very low quality. I bought and I have regret for it.
@@Samosayummyyay my s7 edge dropped few times already. The screen never crack. The screen has corilla glass 5. The back break with the first drop. It doesnt have Corilla glass 5
1:22 is a very important point many reviewers are ignorant about. Best picture quality on social media (eg Instagram) is entirely dependent on the most used device ( maybe iPhones) AND how the image quality is represented on those other devices.
