Don't just disable all the settings in group policy without at least trying to read them first!
There's a trap there that you want to change to ENABLED instead. Specifically the "Disable OneSettings Download" option.
In the description it states: "If you disable or don't configure this policy setting, Windows will periodically attempt to connect with the OneSettings service to download configuration settings."
There's little to no actual information about what this service is other than a Microsoft hosted service that they use to "keep your computer healthy", but my guess is that it allows Microsoft to reset your system settings periodically to whatever they think is best for your system. And by that I mean best for their data collection.

If you disable or do not configure this policy setting, users may see notifications through the Windows Feedback app asking users for feedback.

To answer your question about Ubunut. Ubuntu had some issues recently in past years; experimentation with different software and applications. It's a newer group of users compared to like the arch community and thus it's not as defined and sophisticated. Ubuntu will most LIKELY come back around. I think it currently is doing so. However I just never saw a need to check it out. I'd mess switch Debian, Endeavor, or Gentoo in time or learn them for my own sake. But I've never had an urge to install Ubuntu. Like any distro if you learn how to use it fluidly. You probably will be fine. 14:39 Apparently people have been saying there was a trap in the settings you had to disable here, so I read through all of them and, if I'm not mistaken, *there are multiple traps here - do not disable all of them!*
    Enable these settings:
    - *Disable OneSettings Downloads* (Enabling --> Prevents Windows from connecting with the OneSettings Service)
    - *Limit Diagnostic Log Collection* (Enabling --> diagnostic logs will not be collected)
    - *Limit Dump Collection* (Enabling --> Windows Error Reporting only sends kernel mini dumbs and user mode triage dumps)
    - *Do Not Show Feedback...* (Enabling --> no feedback notifications)
    I am unsure about:
    - *Configure Authenticated Proxy...* (Enabling --> blocks Connected User Experience and Telemetry Service from automatically using an authenticated proxy - should I do this?)
    - *Configure diagnostic data opt-in change notifications* (Disabling --> hides data opt-in change notifications - would I want these notifications gone?)
    - *Configure diagnostic data opt-in settings user interface* (Disabling --> disables diagnostic data settings in the Settings app - is this needed?)
    - *Allow Diagnostic Data* (Enabling + Setting the additional setting to "Diagnostic Data off" --> no diagnostic data is sent from the device on Enterprise, Education and Server editions only, according to Microsoft's comments - does this work for Home as well?)
If I got something wrong, please tell me

I’m already dead set on switching to Linux before Windows 10 EOL. Windows and personal computing in general peaked in the XP era and has gone downhill since, but now Windows is becoming primarily focused on advertising to you and collecting data. Not to mention any remotely advanced settings are annoying to get to now in Windows 10. The GUI is just disjointed with all of the normie interface and options and then the real control panel, msconfig, device manager, etc hidden behind it and still from the year 2000. Linux isn’t as hard to use and learn as it was 20 years ago or more when information and guides weren’t so readily available and distros are fairly user friendly.

Valve have done insanely good job with Proton and i really wish that Valve develop Proton to be able to run ANYTHING windows, and not only games that are mostly singleplayer (Proton has a problem working with games that rely on Anti-Cheat software).
i have already moved away on my main laptop to a MacBook 3 years ago, now i wish that i could move my gaming PC to a Linux distro once Proton and Windows software compatibility covers 100% (or even just 99%) of all windows software for Linux.

I was on the exact same spot as you but i said to myself, you know what, fuck it
I have moved to linux, i dont play any EAC games, and the only game that i played and dosent work anymore is valorant.
But full disclamer i did not have a fun start. Pipewire (basically the audio driver for linux) was setting my second monitor as the primary output every restrat (and i keep my second monitor off most times so basically i had no audio output), so i had to learn how to edit .config files in my system and combined around 3 guides and forum help threads to make myself my specific autostart code, and now only like after 3 or 4 restarts my audio defaults back to my second lonitor.
After that, my microphone outputed only white noise so i had to install a terminal based app to enable my microphone or smt and now it sounded ok but never like in windows.
After that i had to install my games wich was the EASYEST part of it all. After that i noticed that my pc crashed when it was under heavy load (this was about 2 months into my linux journey) and i was really about to say fuck it all and go back to windows, but i remembered that everyone said that i should make some swap, and i didnt because i was dumb, so after 2 minutes of reading the archwiki i made myself 8 gigs of swap, and now my pc is just like, or even better than it was in windows.
If you really want the linux market to grow so you dont have to run windows, you have to be the change, dont wait for someone else to do it. And if you run into problems, google them for all of your neigbhouring branches, i use arch now, but even in manjaro i used the archwiki and forums many times.
Remember, when you were a child you had to learn all the windows quirks, dont expect those quirks to be the same, they will be different but you will learn them if you really want to change something.

Not to mention Microsoft is trying to censor the Java Edition of Minecraft now. While there were problems with private servers getting destroyed, the moderation extends so far beyond that to the point where you can get banned from multiplayer altogether for forgetting to turn off cap lock (granted its not fully implemented yet). People were moderating their own servers just fine, and you specifically have to look for the servers that can get nasty. Java Edition was an open platform with a rich history that only could have happened on an open platform (look up 2 builders 2 tools), at least they havent restricted modding so this can still be somewhat circumvented, but this is still a colossal blow to millions of players.

Subscription based then i'd say yes online account activation but still no gathering information and 3. Free, and there do the add stuff on. I'd accept this more than what they doing now. Forcing the full license away and make it sub only and forcing their telemetry and always on DRM onto you.

The problem with this process is that if you're willing to hack around with the registry and do all this while you manually install Win11, you have the right mentality for just switching to Linux. I've been daily driving desktop linux for 10 years, and while some things are a bit trickier, some things are conversely easier, and the most important thing that dictates if you'll enjoy Linux and be able to use it just fine is whether or not you're willing to (re-)learn new things and tinker a little bit, you don't need to be a neckbeard or uber-programmer or whatever other insulting stereotypes come to mind. If you're going through this process to "fix" Win11 (big risk that MS will come along and patch or force-install something that undoes all your hard work), and you don't have a critical reason why you can't just switch to Linux, then just go make the switch.

I would like to add, go find "fast startup" and disable it, windows tries to make your system faster by putting everything form your ram on one of your drives, meaning when you shut down your pc your ram is never cleared, this can create alot of goofing if you cut the power on the wall, as the system is only in hibernation and not actually off. the only way to clear your ram is to restart or disable it.

It would be easily fixed by putting all of this in a PS script and having it run every 2 weeks or so, but I can't imagine MS letting this all slide without trying harder to enforce its data harvesting. It may not be a ton of people doing this, but don't forget that all the tech channels encouraging this have millions of viewers. The reach alone could possibly prompt action as a preemptive measure. They go around changing stuff that doesn't matter to anyone but them to begin with anyway.

Empower yourself with the knowledge that many _disincentives_ Microcock trends towards for preventing you from switching OSs can be twisted into _incentives_ for you to switch before it's either extremely difficult or even too late. Switching to Linux on my laptop was easy if only because Windows it's self was taking up so much of it's resources compared to Linux that there were very few things I'd be able to do on it otherwise. My final straw for that was Windows refusing to update (a common symptom of Windows malware, but I don't care at this point).
As for my desktop PC, it's going to be a lot more work to switch because of all my programs but well worth it. My last straw for not using Windows 11 is seeing Microcock bundling a Facebook app into the install, at least on home edition. This is the biggest indication for me of how little they care about your privacy and how far gone they've become about it. I've already started an ever changing plan to switch my desktop to Linux, but it looks like I'll have to have a decent installation and post-installation plan and act on it by the Windows 10 end-of-life date.

The changes MS has made to local accounts is infuriating. I have a PC that is dedicated to running one specific program (can't use my server as it requires GPU) - I had to re-look-up HOW to make an offline account as all normal options have basically been removed.
Setup a PC for a very elderly relative, setup an offline account with no rights so when he inevitably falls for another scammer they can't do anything - but I didn't want him to have an online account or anything tied to his personal information that they might get. So setup an offline, and every week or so MS pop-up on login "Hey! You should setup a Microsoft account! Click here, or here, or here, or here, or here, or breath at the screen and we'll take you to a page to set it up."
Not to mention I despise the fact that Windows 11 was a thing after all their promises. I'm a big MS fan... but man, they are burning all the bridges I generally take care of for them in our dealings.

I hear everybody say to me all the time how much of a hassle Linux is and the like, but I'm seriously considering how magically everyone's Windows installs are these super stable things or if they just got so used to Windows bullshit that they fault any other OS for it's problems but just ignores Windows.

I always found Linux to be far less of a hassle than windows, everything just works and makes sense, with windows i was constantly fighting it

Comparing the ad-read to how he usually talks about VPNs is a pretty good test for learning just how strict these ad-reads are.

I heard that everytime you update the system, the things you turn off are re-activated, is that true ? The only thing that keeps me tied to Windows is Division 2 and Outriders. Two games I am currently playing that will not run on Linux, if the devs of these games ever decided to enable EAC support for Linux, Windows is history. I used Garuda Linux by the way.

I've found that on windows 10 the privacy settings are often (not always) switched back off after an update, also edge gets automatically reinstalled and plastered on my desktop and made into the default browser again
