    His output has always been hit and miss. What is good in the vast majority of the characters in his books are well developed and with an interesting back story. I personally didn't rate this one.

      Yeah, I agree, his characterisation is generally strong and I do like that in his books. Even so Bart Dawes still felt a bit one dimensional compared to some of his other protagonists and other characters. Jack Torrance from The Shining did the whole spiralling into madness exacerbated by a troubled past thing way better.

      It was pretty average, yeah. It’s still a Stephen King book, so worth reading if like me you’re reading through his whole bibliography, but it’s a weak King book.
