Roadwork is my favourite of The Bachman Books. I returned to it after I had been diagnosed with depression. It really resonated with me. I felt Bart's pain, his impotent rage at the grief of his son's death. His fury at the relentless change destroying his life. I thankfully recovered from my battle with the black hole of depression. I return to Bart's sorry tale everytime I feel that black hole may again engulf me. I have no idea why but Roadwork has really helped me over the years. It's a powerful novel and in my opinion one of King's best. Thanks for your review.
I feel the same, bro. This amazing novel helped me recover from depression too. This is my favorite book by King. After reading your comment, I have a desire to re-read the Roadwork.
I have to respect a self-proclaimed King fan who does NOT LIKE The Shining and outs himself in the mob. 😄 I love the book, but I equally love when someone sticks to their unpopular guns. 👏👏
