3 hours no sweat with the video, this is with 2 little kids "helping" as well! Installed on a 75 degree morning with no issues. Very nice quality product.
One problem i had with my install is the small black screws that have a built in washer. The holes for them weren't threaded nor were the screws self tapping. Made for a difficult time installing those. Luckily after struggling for a while my stepdad had a self tapper the same size that i used to tap the holes out for the screws. Its probably just an issue with the newer ones as i don't see them having that problem in this video. Other than that install was easy. Much easier with this video than with the paper directions.
This video makes installation so easy. Did it by myself in just 2 1/2 hours. Probably would have taken twice that time with the instructions only. Thank you for posting this!
This is a great top. The video is really helpful. The one drawback that I wish I had known about was the #8 1/2” washer head screws. They are awful. Save yourself some time and headache and go buy some stainless #8 1/2” screws and stainless washers. The included screws do not install like the video shows. He either pre drilled the holes or went through twenty extra screws making this video.
I installed this with a friend in 2.5 hours . Was pretty straight forward with only a couple head scratchers using the paper instructions which the video helped clarify. Nice video!
Just finished, big thanks to the video! Had a couple pain points, so just to help, here’s a heads up to look out for, if anyone about to embark…. -Section 4: my Bow Mount Brackets’ “this end up” was stamped upside down on them. Go by the instructions diagram- round hole up! -Section 5: MY predrilled screw holes did not come close to lining up. YMMV. So maybe have a metal drill bit on hand, just in case. -Section 17: screwing in the 8 Bow Flap screws, go by the video, as the instruction diagram is confusing, and can’t fit as illustrated. (Over, not under) - Also, it was a huge help to leave the cover/windows lying in the sun while you’re working- got them more pliable and more manageable. But overall VERY happy so far!
Great video. Thanks! Was very helpful in getting the top installed. Took about 4 hours with my daughter helping me (not particularly rushing). The only really difficult part was the rear window - that was a PITA! The video makes it look a lot easier than it is. Hopefully once it stretches out for a bit, it'll be a bit easier to get on. Very impressed with the quality and solid engineering of this top!
Excellent video. This is how to do it, sell it and get it installed. I'm shopping soft tops now and the Glide has been on my watch list for a while. Not sure if I like the extra roof bows vs the OEM top but then OEM isn't fastback.
Great video! I installed the top myself and it took 5 hours. One hour longer than the instruction manual but it was 90'degrees in midday sun so I took a couple of breaks. Overall pretty easy install.
I had this top installed today by a custom Jeep shop. It took them seven hours with two talented techs to assemble this. It has 35 pages of instructions. They had to Call Bestop for assistance with some of the instructions. My suggestion is to not try this yourself and find a custom Jeep place who has experience in installing Bestops. But the quality looks great. It needs so sit in the sun for a few days to stretch out. And I do like the look...:) Good luck fellow Jeepers...:-)
Respectfully, the shop you went to stinks. I installed in 2.5 hours with my friend and I wouldn't say either one of us is particularly mechanical. We just followed the instructions and watched the video again for some parts.
Great video. I have a 2 door jk with an Oem soft top, but I really like this top, I looked into it but to my knowledge it's on back order till September
Snow Dogs Vlogs thanks for the heads up. I was thinking of ordering one this weekend. But hearing it's taking over a month to ship. I have to believe they are out of stock regardless of what bestop is saying
Great idea but had to drill out all the holes in the 3bow and 4 bow and header....Someone must have set the CNC machine up wrong that day....Took about 5 hours could have been done in 2 if I had decided to drill the holes first instead of fight it for 2 hrs.....But it looks amazing and I love the top especially the safari look
I'm looking into buying this. My finger is literally on the trigger. I just want to know when I'm ready to put the hardtop back on, does everything need to be completely removed. All brackets, door surrounds, etc
You take out a good portion of the brackets the ones over the doors but you leave a bracket behind the rear doors for the top. I just reinstalled my soft top after placing my hardtop in storage, and it took me about 20 minutes to put everything on
Just installed one one of these on my jeep today. The top must have been updated since this video as, my top had bolts rather than knobs for the surrounds, no arch bows and no pockets in the front of the top.
we bought one for a 2016 wrangler sport 4 door. directions suck! one part was labeled and stamped wrong . for how much this top costs its poorly designed and fragile . but i will say, this video was very helpful and easy to follow. bow #2 will snap in an instant for your're not careful. thankfully customer service did send us a new one. but again took like 5 weeks. besttop needs to make a top with less steps and less pieces to put together. the top is finally back on , and were afraid to even put it up and use it the way its supposed to be used. 2 stars out of 5 !
@@BestopTeamgood to know! I just got one of these and it had no arch bows and had no mention of them in the instructions. Good to know they aren't necessary
Just did my daughter top took us just at 3 hrs we put the wrong side rails and needed to take it apart and fix that but everything went well. Only think I would say is add a sticker to the rails like the rest of the kit has R/S front or L/S front But overall great looking top
Great video and terrific articulation (speaking). Awaiting for delivery and this is gonna be helpful fer sure. Gotta ask. What lift/suspension/tire setup is installed on the yellow bestop Jeep. Love the look/stance and would like to duplicate in my 2016 jku !! (I have and would like to keep my 75th anniversary bronze rims...would they need spacers for tires??)
I am on the struggle bus trying to screw in the pan head screws into the stay straps on the #3 and #4 bow. I keep stripping the darn screws and it seems like there isn’t enough meat to get it into the bow. Any advice on this challenge?
Sorry for the late reply, hopefully you've gotten this fixed, however if you're still needing help, I would suggest calling Customer Service at 800.845.3567, they're available Monday through Friday from 8am to 4pm, MST.
OK, this top is definitely over engineered but it is a great top and I love it. That said, I HATE the arch bows, can they be removed are they crucial for proper operation with the top up?
Installation was going great until I had to attach the stay strap to the back bows. The screw holes are not working at all and my screws are now stripped. Seen a lot of issues with this. Need better QC on this area.
Looks great... but.. Wish the bows were incorporated into the top. I am not riding around with those overhead. When i open the top i want it to be open.. not have a bow running across the opening.
9:18 " Now, using 2 of those 4 screws" The screws you removed are not the same type screws used in the following steps. And was a top-down persepective not possible? oblique angles for things like seals ?
One day we will hopefully see a top that folds down as ONE unit with no more panel removal and storage bags NO channels or zippers …..Seems like too much to ask 🤔
Me and best top are about to be really close. I ordered the $1800 top from quadatec and it came late and the box was busted. Can't get anyone! To answer the phone there. So the only option is to buy the parts I need. Someone warned me jeeps suck the money out your wallet!
Don't like how rear window goes in I've heard it pops out when you have your windows down and going down highway.. Would rather see the zippers for rear window
We don't have an install video but here is a link to the 2 door Trektop Glide on our site: www.bestop.com/jeep/2018/wrangler-jk/trektop-glide-convertible-soft-top/door/2/
My thoughts as well. Glad to have gotten rid of my 14-year-old, well-worn factory soft top, but it seems like this opens the same way as the original, and on the original, I had to strap the two folded halves of the bar together with velcro strips. I still have them, and will probably continue using them. "Old habits," and all that.
I started my install yesterday and struggled with the enclosed instructions. Found this video and its a life saver!!!
3 hours no sweat with the video, this is with 2 little kids "helping" as well! Installed on a 75 degree morning with no issues. Very nice quality product.

Had the same issue. Contacted Bestop and their solution was to ship me more screws.

Mine all stripped. 😩
Be sure you have a good non-stripped drillbit or screwdriver. I used the installed screws just fine.
I installed this with a friend in 2.5 hours . Was pretty straight forward with only a couple head scratchers using the paper instructions which the video helped clarify. Nice video!

Not sure why some are crossed out. All are valid. 😉
Had the same issue with my bow mount bracket, left side.
This video is a tremendous help when coupled with the paper instructions.

Fantastic step by step instructions. Very helpful. Thank you!
Great video, easy to follow. Couldn't have installed my soft top without.
Just ordered mine this morning. Watching this video multiple times, should help with my install. Thanks, Bestop!

It is not on back order, we have plenty in stock at www.Bestop.com
Bestop® 54923-17 Trektop NX Glide Twill Softop ? I ordered one over a month ago and I still don't have it. and it hasn't been shipped.
Bestop My coworker called to order one over the phone last week. He was told there on back order till I believe he was told till September
Snow Dogs Vlogs thanks for the heads up. I was thinking of ordering one this weekend. But hearing it's taking over a month to ship. I have to believe they are out of stock regardless of what bestop is saying
Not sure why he was told that. We are not back ordered that far out. I suggest he try another authorized dealer or call Bestop directly.

@33min, typo "Opertation" ;) Man, I'm buying one of these as soon as I can afford it :D
we bought one for a 2016 wrangler sport 4 door.

If you snapped a part you did it wrong.
needed this. thank you very much
Is it necessary to use the arch bows for this top?
Great question! It is not at all necessary to use these. They are useful if you are experiencing water pooling or flapping.
@@BestopTeamgood to know! I just got one of these and it had no arch bows and had no mention of them in the instructions. Good to know they aren't necessary

Can you detach the top after it's folded back? Quadratec mentioned there were two quick release points. Maybe I read that wrong?
Yes, there are quick release bow knuckles that allow the frame to disconnect easily from the brackets mounted to the Jeep.
Is this recommend for the 2 door Jeep Wrangler too ?
I’m not sure where to place the spongy things on the windshield header 🤔
great video but they fail to mention that the top leaks the at upper corner of the quarter panels and the gaskets tear away easily.
OK, this top is definitely over engineered but it is a great top and I love it. That said, I HATE the arch bows, can they be removed are they crucial for proper operation with the top up?
what do you hate about them? thanks

Great video. Instructions alone would have been very difficult.
Looks great... but.. Wish the bows were incorporated into the top. I am not riding around with those overhead. When i open the top i want it to be open.. not have a bow running across the opening.
Hi! The silver bows you are referring to are optional and very easy to remove if you do not want them overhead while the top is retracted.
Bestop that’s awesome in that case! Thanks.
The video is fantastic. Would have taken a lot longer if just had the printed instructions.
Any recommendations for storing the windows in the Jeep without damaging them?
These windows do not roll like other soft top models.
9:18 " Now, using 2 of those 4 screws" The screws you removed are not the same type screws used in the following steps.
And was a top-down persepective not possible? oblique angles for things like seals ?
Do they have this for a jeep tj?

much better video
Is this top different from the Ultra top?
very helpful!
Proper opertation 33 minutes in
Should make it for the TJ
Cool top but who the hell uses an adjustable wrench? Haha
Took me 10 hours but I’m bad with the drill thing. Advice - get a good drill and know how to use it.
Me and best top are about to be really close. I ordered the $1800 top from quadatec and it came late and the box was busted. Can't get anyone! To answer the phone there. So the only option is to buy the parts I need. Someone warned me jeeps suck the money out your wallet!

Where is the 2d version?
We don't have an install video but here is a link to the 2 door Trektop Glide on our site: www.bestop.com/jeep/2018/wrangler-jk/trektop-glide-convertible-soft-top/door/2/
This isnt helpful for a 2 door
Completely useless video if you're installing on a 2 door. Make a separate video. Tired of everything catering for the minivans
Minute 11. Screws do not align on top and bottom. Wasted 6 hrs of my life. Don’t buy
When you fold the sun top back, does it flop around at highway speeds??? Seems like it should be strapped down?
My thoughts as well. Glad to have gotten rid of my 14-year-old, well-worn factory soft top, but it seems like this opens the same way as the original, and on the original, I had to strap the two folded halves of the bar together with velcro strips.
