    Best review on TH-cam. Very through! I feel no other reviews showed the versatility of removing then putting back on the top!

    Thanks for the in depth review. I'm looking forward to getting this top, seems it was well worth the wait after I heard they were redesigning the Trek Top NX. Thanks again.

    Hey man, thanks for the video. I'm on the fence about ordering this top. Below are questions I have for Bestop about it. Maybe you could answer some of them?
    -are all issues resolved regarding:
    -window glides popping out of channel?
    -leaking?
    -exposed metal scraping paint off Jeep around tail gate corners (I read this in forums)
    -does it balloon any more than the factory soft top?
    -is it easy to remove the arch support in front once its installed?
    -if I want to put on a hardtop, what needs to be removed?
    -I drive on highway a lot with top on, but all windows off (safari style). Will this top be sturdy or in any way flap around, or create a “parachute” effect?
    -if I have it fully open as convertible, does the folded top in back make a lot of noise or shake a lot on highway?

    Excellent and very accurate review. I swapped the tops on my own and it took 5 hours to do. The comment about having a system is a very important note as well if you have a large dog that will be jumping in and out.

    Do you feel like the black diamond material was good enough quality? Deciding between that and the twill…

    • @AdventureVehicleReviews
      @AdventureVehicleReviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, it’s pretty sturdy. I’d have no issues running it on my Jeep.

    I could be wrong, but to my recollection, the only bow with the kit was mounted just above the center speaker bar. However, any soft top is going to have at least some flutter and noise. Especially, when they loosen up after time.

    How easy is it to completely remove the top? I understand that there are quick releases to the hinges that hold the top to the roll cage. Are they easy to use? Also, I have heard that the back window tends to pop out of the glide channels - can you comment on that? Thanks!

    So I bought this top a month ago. I had to have it replaced now twice so far in the past month. I'm waiting now for Bestop to send me yet another (third) top which is supposed to be "from the new batch" (I was assured this about the previous 2 tops as well). I wish I didn't sell my factory soft top and frame, as this thing has been terrible. Most all of the troubles I had read about and had expressed to Bestop before buying it, all came true. Even after everyone at Bestop told told me these problems had been fixed etc etc. I'm afraid I'm gonna be stuck with this poorly designed and cheaply made top now, and it....really sucks. I had the original factory top which was tight fitting, didn't leak, zippers all worked fine, everything was solid. However the top was in the sailcloth fabric and I wanted to upgrade to the twill fabric. Rather than spending $2000 with Mopar/Jeep for a whole new top and frame combo, I was going to just buy the Bestop 'replace-a-top' twill for the factory frame. This is easy to do, and because Bestop's twill fabric is of good quality, this would be hard for Bestop to foul up, as they would be only supplying the fabric, and I would be using the original factory frame. When I called Bestop to order the fabric, one of their employees talked me into buying the (cool looking and cool seemingly* well designed) Trektop NX Glide top instead, assuring me all the problems which I had heard about and read about had been remedied; the problems which I had already read about in all the reviews and comments on youtube vids, the Jeep forums, Amazon reviews etc. Still, before purchasing, I then talked with several Bestop employees regarding all these issues (chiefly the windows popping out of the channels, but also the other complaints which I had read about at length), and I went over all concerns in detail with each employee. They knew of these issues, but all assured me the top is great now, all problems fixed. So I trusted them, and purchased it. The first 2 tops they sent me had the same problems, but each with its own unique 'quirks' on top of the windows popping out. Bestop will tell you the differences which occur from top to top is because they are all hand-stitched. I prefer handmade products generally, but not for a Jeep top, a Jeep which I drive nearly 40k miles in a year, and one which I often take the windows off/on, top up/down. While the glide system sounds great, and in the new JLs the glide system is great, the Bestop design and quality overall just is not even close to 'there'. I would like to support them because they have been around for so long, and they are the better of the aftermarket choices for tops, but the quality is not close to the factory. And no, Bestop's tops are not made in the same factories as Jeep/Mopar's, and while Bestop supplies them, the Mopar tops are much better quality. Get up close to one of Bestop's 'Supertop NX' and compare it to the factory tops. It's the same design, but look closer. Play around with the 2 and see the difference in quality. (digression: I wish Mopar would make the new JL design soft tops for JKs, or that Bestop would duplicate the JL design tops in both design and quality. People would buy them off the shelves. I saw and tried a JL soft top, and it was far superior all around, and the glide channels are far better made than Bestop's). Anyway, does anyone out there still have the Bestop NX Glide top, and find it ok after using it for more than 6 months to a year? Honest answers are appreciated. Thanks

    If you throw back that first top above the front seats, can you go 80mph without strapping it down? Is it secure?

    Thanks for the video. I live in Michigan and have a hardtop on my JLUR, but I am interested in this top for the summer. Can I easily put my hardtop back on while leaving all the hardware that this top requires on the Jeep? Thanks

      “Thank you for your email. The only hardware you can leave on is the pin point brackets (if you have a 2 door) and the rear bow mount brackets (if you have a 4 door). Otherwise, all the hardware needs to come off.

    Great review, thanks for putting so much time and effort into your video. The back window in a standard soft top is also a hassle when compared to the ease of the hard top. The standard soft top still unzips to allow more access. Can the back window be removed without first removing the rear side windows?

    • @AdventureVehicleReviews
      @AdventureVehicleReviews  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Joe Fairfax, we appreciate the kind remarks. The rear window will come off without having to remove the rear quarter windows. Happy wheeling!

  • @jonathanluna1069
    @jonathanluna1069 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    They should add a strong magnet on the bestop logo in the rear and one on the bottom portion of the rear window so you can unclip it an fold it to the top where the magnets meet so i can pack larger items like a cooler.

    you said there was some flutter... you think that would be gone if you put the front bow in?

    • @brianmurphy5313
      @brianmurphy5313 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      you shouldn't need the front bow if it is designed well. the factory soft top doesn't have that arch bow in front

    What's the difference between this top and the trektop nx?

  • @scottsalsberg8066
    @scottsalsberg8066 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have a tuffy lol. Are you able to use it with a tuffy security that uses the gate to close and secure the lid? My concern is that the track for the soft-top will interfere with it. If you look up tuffy security deck you can see how it works.

    • @AdventureVehicleReviews
      @AdventureVehicleReviews  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Scott Salsberg, based upon what you are describing I do not believe that this top will interfere. To be sure though, I would give Bestop a call and ask. Bestop and Tuffy Security have a good business relationship.

    • @AlamgirTamboli
      @AlamgirTamboli 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a tuffy security deck and a trektop nx (NOT the glide) and that works fine. I eventually plan to upgrade to the glide but I imagine that'll be fine as well.

    how do you carry your windows with you in case of bad weather while travelling full open top config?

    • @AdventureVehicleReviews
      @AdventureVehicleReviews  7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Wey Runner, we just placed them carefully across the rear seat or rear cargo area. A towel or cloth between the panels would help to protect the windows.

    what is involved in going back to the hard top (say before the winter months). What kind of hardware has to be removed?

    • @AdventureVehicleReviews
      @AdventureVehicleReviews  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mike Howell, to answer your question. Not much at. It basically can be removed in less than 15-20 minutes. No hardware necessary.

    I followed the directions from best top 100% and my top is a half in short and wont clip in the front , all bolt spins ects are correct but this this wont fit, it sat in the 89 degree sun for 4 hours im completely lost

    • @AdventureVehicleReviews
      @AdventureVehicleReviews  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For Today sounds like our issue as well. Wait for the sun to go down and soak the fabric with water. Let it sit for an hour our two then use a strong friend to help pull the top into place. It’s very difficult and very tight fitting.

    Does the top flutter too much with the light bar

    • @AdventureVehicleReviews

      Reinier Cruz , the light bar itself creates a lot of wind noise. But the Bestop TrekTop NX Glide is very quiet for a soft top.

      Adventure Vehicle Reviews Watched it, and was in the middle of another when I was alerted to your reply... I thought it was a fair, well done review.
      ...just seems silly to have an intro to TH-cam videos as if it's a syndicated TV show. Personally, I come to TH-cam to avoid TV, and commercials... Yet more and more TH-camrs are doing all they can to make their uploads more like what people (like me) are trying to eliminate. Just give me the video, I'll thumbs up it, and sub if it's good content.
      Meh... Just my opinion, and it isn't going to change anything.
