    I think i'd want to mention in your section that differentiates how mids work that unreactable Lows in 3d fighters also fulfill the same niche that chip damage does, due to them not having specials work that way. This is very well edited though, and it's cool that you use a variety of examples

    Happy to see another entry into this video series! It's become a go-to recommendation I give to beginners who want to learn FGs nowadays.

    A bit late, but I'd like to add guard cancels are sometimes your only/best way to try and get out of a terrible situation, and may even be used reactively to be some moves you know they can't be baited with. They can also be used offensively to negate your opponent taking back initiative and/or space, like if they are cornered and make you block something.
    I think a lot of people use it less because it both requires resource awareness and often becomes that much better when you have good knowledge of the opposing character's offense. And a lot of people don't really want to lab out how to get out of bad situations. They want to lab out messed-up stuff that they themselves can use on others.

    Watching 3/4 of this guy's videos I realized 1 thing :
    "Fighting games have a reaction time of 160 MS and humans have a reaction time of 200 ms,
    Therefore you have to learn to anticipate your opponents attacks"
    Which basically means Fighting games are more "lucky" experience based than skill at some point

    I think the reason why people don't use guard cancel is the input is plain awkward to do. You got to press forward and an attack button in some games and that doens't seem intuitive to do when you're blocking. When blocking in most games you just want to press back instead. I still think game developers should reconsider the inputs on guard cancels, admittedly the point of it being get out of jail card is the reason why its hard to execute. I hardly do it only if there is no viable "Get off me" invincible moves. It also amazes how some players just don't know what blocking is.

      I've sort of hinted at the idea that absolute guard can make inputting guard cancels easier if you know it's there, but yeah, it probably remains situational.

    easy way to option select throw, high, low mixups in a lot of games... just chicken block in any game with air blocking and no startup frames. it even changes position to make crossups hard.

    I think you missed a defensive blocking option, that is back shifting, this allows the character on defense to shift backwards instead of pushing or parrying the opponents attack. This mechanic is introduced in Sf5 as V-shift and Project L.

    • @MougliFGC
      @MougliFGC  ปีที่แล้ว

      I would argue that this is just a fancy backdash, which I covered in the previous video, but it doesn't hurt to point them out, thanks! :)
