CORRECTIONS AND OMISSIONS: - THROWS: Meant to talk about them but forgot. They are another option worth trying as in some games, they are faster than anything else (but obviously only work at a certain range). - ABARE: The term actually only refers to mashing while at a disadvantage. This is you gambling on the possibility that the attacker follows up with a attack that is slow enough to negate their own advantage.
Great video. The breakdown of "4 things that can happen when mashing jab on the defensive" is a very elegant way to explain it to less experienced players.
I can’t express how thankful I am for these videos. As someone who started seriously giving fighting games a try with Granblue Rising I’m glad I can have things laid out for a beginner to the entire genre.
Awesome point about fast reaction times vs pattern recognition/habits. I always think my reactions must be slower than my opponent's, but not everyone I play against can have superpowered reactions. Practicing and recognising moves makes a lot more sense.
Great vid the advice of finding your best buttons and the different outcomes for mashing were my favorite parts. The only thing I have against it is that abare is mashing when you're minus not when plus
Let me say this I never was into playing fighting games. But the competitive aspect of it always fascinated me. I have friends that love fighting games, and I never understood all the little micro decisions they did while playing them, but nevertheless I watching because I enjoyed. Your videos help me understand a little bit more of the fighting game genre and its beauty, even though I have no patience and time to invest myself in them.
I commented on the footsies video saying that I think this series would have the bit that I haven't been able to get to click - and here it is. Thank you so much. I've tried to pick up fighting games for something like 15 years, but have had the weird gap on what to do with "turns" and when. I'd love to hear a little bit more on inverse - the idea of applying blockstrings, and maybe converting into the "big" combos. But that's absolutely a video for later in the chain, and may be too game-specific.
In the GGST Community Server, there are a lot of beginners struggling with mashing and when and why to use it (or not). Doing my part to make sure they get to see this!

great video! Would love to see a followup detailing about how to ''use your turn'' effectively
I'll get to that eventually... once I understand it well enough myself 🤣

Ah, you are correct, I misread the definition. Will add a correction to my pinned comment. Thanks for pointing out the mistake!
Let me say this

Yep, I'll get to that eventually (when I'm confident enough in my knowledge of the topic)
This is really useful info, thank you! I really gotta watch this whole series again haha
Great primer to challenging offense! Will definitely share with friends, thanks :)
Thanks, Mougli❤❤❤

Thanks! I appreciate it!
Welcome back Mougli
I have nothing meaningful to say, but you deserve more attention, so I'm just commenting to boost engagement.
Good stuff
Why hasn't youtube recommended this video to me before? 😢
It's been a while since my last upload, and YT doesn't like to promote channels that appear inactive...
Is Reina cosplaying the girl from Rival Schools?
Jackpot!
