    Fun fact to those who haven't kept up with the anime. In Yugioh VRains, which began around 2018-2019, the main villain of the first season is hyped up to have an amazingly powerul card that can wipe the field and the characters spend multiple duels being cautious and figuring out what it is, and they find out that god-tier card is... Mirror Force.

    • @keymaster16
      @keymaster16 2 ปีที่แล้ว +89

      @@removebeforeflightgamingth9923 the 'joke' is that link monsters don't HAVE a defense position and so have no native way to 'play around' it. never mind that by that time the TCG had evolved beyond using TRAP CARDS natively thanks to the speed of the game devolving cards into 'turn 1/turn 2' cards.

    Honestly, I'm surprised Obelisk made this list over Machina Citadel and Starving Venom. Citadel when combined with either Super Dora or Infinitrack Goliath makes it a one-side board wipe. And then Starving Venom though being a more conditional Dark Hole, is still a Super Poly target meaning it's a layer of protection on top of interruption that can't be responded to.

    Heya Mr. Logs from the TheDuelLogs channel, could you make a top 10 list of archetypes that have effects that "break the rules" of the game because they have card text that says they can i.e ones like Zoodiacs Xyz summoning with only one monster, Ursarctics synchroing by subtracting instead of adding levels and Blackwings synchroing with materials in the GY, Drytrons ritual summoning based on atk instead of levels, Madolches shuffling themselves back into the deck instead of going to the GY, True Dracos tribute summoning with continuous spells & traps instead of monsters etc.

    With “umi” and sea stealth attack you can turn elemental hero absolute zero into a raigeki every turn.
    I’ve messed around with it in master duel as a troll deck. It’s hilarious but not too competitive yet bc it’s just too hard to setup quickly. Even with 3x warrior of Atlantis and 3x legendary ocean and 3x ssa, you’d still need poly, a hero and a water card. Might be more viable when the new sea stealth support comes to the tgc in the future.

  • @GreatPharaohYT

    I personally believe Machina could be in Obelisk’s or Mirror force’s place. Obelisk requires to tribute 2 monsters and locks you from attacking with it that turn, where citadel destroys a monster of your choice (potentially helping you to special summon citadel from the grave of there’s another one there) but also doesn’t restrict you from attacking. Mirror force only destroys attack position monsters meaning that it’s not rocket science to switch your monsters in defense position to secure them as well as having to be activated during the battle phase making it even more situational comparing it to citadel’s quick effect that can be used at any time.

  • @benhwa101
    @benhwa101 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    It is important to point out that Mirrorjade only activate its raigeki-like effect when it is fusion summoned, and this will be relevant as Despia deck would banish their own Mirrorjade and bring it back with Ad Libitum in order to get a second banish in the same turn

    A fun trivia, at the Bolivia nationals, there were no maindecked copies of raigeki, both were in the sideboard. Harpie's Feather Duster had 3 copies present, 2 maindecked and 1 sideboarded. Chainge of Heart had 2 copies mainboard and none in the side, and Monster Reborn had a single maindecked copy, none in the side, and it was in the deck that won the whole event. Of the old school "staples", Foolish Burial had the most copies present, 4, all mainboarded.

    Question: What made you pick Absolute Zero over Evil HERO Malicious Bane, since Bane can destroy all your opponent's monsters with lower ATK once per turn, and can't be destroyed? Not disagreeing (or agreeing), just curious.

    • @nichidoushiro
      @nichidoushiro 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I think the main reason is that absolute zero's effect triggers no matter how it leaves the field (unless sent back into the extra deck), which means most forms of removals and even your own card effects can trigger the nuke (which also means you can trigger it actively during your opponent's turn), and also, given the pace of the current metagame, you don't usually need a second nuke to establish a strong enough board presence to win, so Malicious Bane's once per turn is not highly necessary.

    I feel like Fire King High Avatar Garunix deserves a mention. It's a level 8 fire/winged beast effect monster with 1700 ATK and 1700 DEF, with the effect that if it's destroyed by a card effect, special summon it from the graveyard in the next standby phase and when you do destroy all other monsters on the field. When it's destroyed by battle, you can special summon one Fire King monster from your deck excpept High Avatar Garunix

    • @seansquiers6506
      @seansquiers6506 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Minor correction, it has 2700 attack (I'm assuming it was a typo lmao). And has archetypal ways of destroying itself via card effect. Circle of the Fire Kings is a quick play spell card that allows you to destroy one fire monster you control and special summon one fire monster from the graveyard. Also Onslought of the Fire Kings allows you to special summon any Fire King monster from your deck if you have no monsters but it is destroyed during the end phase. Another thing to note is that if you managed to get a second Fire King High Avatar Garunix on the field during the same turn that the one summoned via onslaught was still there before being destroyed you would make an infinite loop unless one was banished or destroyed by battle. On top of other fire kings being able to destroy other cards you control or in your hand or via the same effect as onslaught but instead when it is sent to the gv this effect is easy to do without cooperation from your opponent.

    _Normal Summon Cascade_

    _Once per turn you may banish at least one monster you own with a level in your hand or field; until the end phase of your next turn you may conduct three additional normal or tribute summons per turn of monsters with the same level, type and attribute as that monster(s) you banished. When you activate this set card, this cards effects cannot be negated, and you gain LP equal to the combined levels of monsters you normal or tribute summon X500 until the end phase of your next turn. Monsters you normal or tribute summon after the activation of this card cannot be used as material to summon extra deck monsters until the end phase of your next turn, and until the end phase of your next turn your opponents cards are unaffected by their card effects._

      It isn't like Raigeki in that it nukes the whole field instead of just monsters. It does require 4 different Lightsworns in gy to summon; mill top 4 cards of your deck, has no self-protection and only 3000 atk with 2600 def. Far easier to beat with both card effects and battle while being harder to summon. Paying more than 2000 lp can be detrimental as well.
      It is far more powerful an effect at the cost of protection and summoning: no protection and can only be special summon and with specific cards.

    Thunderclap Skywolf definitely should have been on this list. If you use it as the main boss monster in a deck along with Thunder Seahorse to search Batteryman Solar which, on normal summon, can send skywolf to the GY, you can easily setup multiple raigeki effects for your opponent's turn.
    The cool thing about Skywolf is that its effect is arguably easier to activate than Torrential or Mirror Force given that its only requirement is being summoned from the GY. Several trap cards can bring your monsters back like Back to The Front, Call of The Haunted, and Oasis of Dragon Souls. It has a myriad of other supporting cards as well.
    Unlike Torrential or Mirror Force, Skywolf doesn't suffer from backrow removal that will stop you activating the effect as you can just chain your trap cards to bring back skywolf and still activate the raigeki effect on resolution.
    Skywolf decks (at least the one I play) are hyper consistent. Because you don't special summon on your first turn but your opponent's turn, you're able to get to your setup cards like Batteryman Solar and revival trap cards with other cards like Thunder Seahorse, Card of Demise, or any good "Pot" cards except Desires. Also, the drawback of Demise is actually a benefit for Skywolf decks because you need it in your GY to interrupt your opponent.
    Now, the drawback of Skywolf's effect and probably the reason that you didn't include it in the list is because it specifies "Face up monsters". But I think that drawback is less bad than potentially destroying your own monsters as well like how Dark Hole and Torrential Tribute can.
    The fact that it doesn't destroy your own monsters is even more valuable because of how Skywolf interacts with Batteryman Solar. Because Batteryman Solar will summon a thunder token whenever a thunder monster is summoned, you can start your plays with Batteryman, send Skywolf, pass turn, summon Skywolf, get the token, wipe your opponent's board, and probably have two thunder monsters when you start your turn because you've interrupted your opponent so much. Even if you don't have two, you can probably get another normal summon on the board via the plethora of draw spells at your disposal or the overpowered effect of Thunder Seahorse which searches not one, but two of a monster from the deck.
    If you have two thunder monsters and you've run out of revival traps or have dead cards in hand, you can use those two monsters to link into Some Summer Summoner which has an effect that allows you to, on your opponent's turn, discard one card to special summon a thunder monster from your GY to a monster zone it points to.
    Alternatively, if you start your turn with Skywolf on the field and need to get rid of it, you can link it and two other monsters into Soldier of Chaos and gain its additional effect which gives it Towers-like protection. By the time you get to Soldier of Chaos you've probably drained your opponent of resources to deal with such a threat which makes it a great way to close out the game.
    There are some obvious counters to Skywolf, though. If your opponent targets Skywolf with Called By The Grave and its effect resolves, you might lose the duel. This is why you play cards like Solemn Judgment, Dark Bribe, and Imperial Iron Wall (the most important). There's a trap card I like to tech in sometimes called Thunder Dragon Discharge which is a part of the Thunder Dragon archetype that prevents your Thunder Monster's effect from being negated. However, it doesn't prevent your revival traps from being negated and drawing multiple is really bad.
    TheDuelLogs, please play Thunderclap Turbo on stream. You would love it. TY.

    I'd personally reduce lighting storm a few spots, just cause it sucks if you go first, or sucks if you draw it after you have a board built up, it is powerful, but most of the time in my experience at least it has a decently large chance of being a brick. In addition its board wipe is worse than the next few slots, since its only face up attack monsters, which makes it pretty easy to play around. good list as usual though.

    Lightning Storm is WAY overrated. Sure it's great situationally if you happen to draw it going second. However, I wonder on the statistics of just how many players have lost duels because of having Lightning Storm over Raigeki, because it's "meta".
    What I mean is, if you aren't drawing it in that turn two situation, it is SO very easy to be stuck with a face up card somewhere and then be completely screwed because you couldn't clear your opponent's board.

    Idk if it would really count as a "best" raigeki effect but I'm a little surprised to see no mention of Aslla Piscu. Granted they nerfed him with his very first errata but considering he nukes face up monsters and burns, I would've thought he might've been mentioned.

It has such an abusable and easily-recyclable Raigeki-like effect on top of providing a fat body and easy recursion. Any time I’ve managed to overcome a top tier deck with my earth machines, Citadel was always a critical piece of clearing my opponent’s board or getting combos going along with Anger Knuckle during my opponent’s turn, on top of the fact that it’s another easily accessible rank 10 piece for your BIG TANK TRAINS

    Nice one. Tho I still do feel you could argue raigeki is better than the top 2. Lighting storm is honestly only useful against backrow decks. Combo decks almost always put their monsters in defense position unless they are playing a link monster on their end board. So generally speaking raigeki to me way is way better over lightning storm since even if it doesn't destroy all their monsters it will at least force out a negate.
