    Hayden Christensen didn't get enough credit as Anakin. George Lucas, the creator himself said the he played Anakin perfectly. He was upset people didn't respond well to Hayden, because he genuinely felt that meant people just didn't like Anakin as a character.

      Oh please, the main criticism was directed toward Hayden’s performance. His limited acting range and thin, simplistic emotional interpretation. Natalie Portman and others were acting circles around him. He was cast because of his heartthrob popularity at the time not because he’s a versatile actor. The critiques still stand.

    • @mr.stuffdoer8483
      @mr.stuffdoer8483 3 ปีที่แล้ว +83

      The issues come from Lucas’s writing and directing. Bad directing can hurt a good actor. Look at Robert Pattinson, man went from the Twilight movies to being a super intimidating Batman.
      Even looking at the OT, most of the actors without significant experience weren’t great, but with Hayden, I think what he nails in a lot of scenes is the expressions. Take the “I’m pregnant.” scene for example. He shows so many varying emotions through expressions alone.

    Fun Fact: Nick Gillard who was the stunt coordinator on the prequels has stated that they actually filmed an entire sequence of Anakin killing the younglings; one of which got stabbed through the throat.
    Upon seeing the footage of the sequence George Lucas said ‘Oh no....’ in absolute horror. Even Gillard said the whole scene was so so violent.

    Anakin's life was hell. No father, he and his mother were slaves, he gets taken to be raised by Jedi but is forced to leave his mother in slavery, is told he can't marry or love anyone, suffers the death of his mother and blames himself because he feels he could've prevented it if only he didn't listen to the Jedi code and came back for her sooner. Everyone he has ever cared for has been taken from him, and he has always blamed himself. So when he finally loves someone, Padme, the thought of losing her as well is enough to push him over the edge. He is done losing those he cares for. But in going down that path, he seals the very fate he was fighting so hard to prevent. Hate and pain become all he has, the only things that has remained constant in his life.

    if you watch the clone wars series, it goes way more into depth with anakin's slow progression going to the dark side. It has a lot to do with YEARS of sidius manipulating him and the jedi council betraying him (in his eyes) and it goes through his story with Ahsoka, his padawan, which actually had A LOT to do with why he went dark. Vadar is seriously my fave star wars character. He's been through A LOT and he really is one of the most powerful

Anakins story is the most tragic thing I’ve ever experienced in film. I will never forget the prequels and originals. I can relate to his fear of losing someone I love so it affects me deeply. That fear comes with suffering and you just gotta accept it’s the way life is. But I still do fear how the people I love and care for will die including me, which is completely normal.

    I think Anakin's story is one of mental illness that was left to turn from bad to worse. He was the right (or wrong) age to be taken from his home and mother, then also lose his father-figure (Qui-Gon), to be raised by an rather distant and uncaring Jedi order. All the violence and trauma of his formative years clearly did lasting damage, then a manipulative old man exploited that and turned him into something ugly and dangerous.
    Maybe this is the real reason the Jedi normally recruit younger. Young enough and you can usually avoid trauma when tearing the child from their family. At Anakin's age, you're pretty much helping create a serial killer.

      However, the gimmick of the chip in the brain, is much more disgustable for child audiences, not that they couldn't understand, but I know personally when I was a kid, I wanted a reason like this to explain why the cool heroes were suddenly bad guys. plus, it has had some very impactful cinematic moments like "good solders fallow orders." @@MrConstantine02 Haven't watched the final season of The Clone Wars or any of Rebels, so I don't know if they go deeper into the inhibitor chips. I remember the CW episode that featured the chips, though I don't remember what was stated in it and how concrete the chips were in their canon implementation at that point.
      But I've come to the head canon that only commanding officers had the chips. So that they were the ones that received the orders and took them without question. They then relayed them to their comrades, who in turn trusted them completely because they were from their commander/squad leader. Those with the chips _couldn't_ question the order, and those without _wouldn't_ question them, because they came from another clone.
      And the 501st followed Anakin into the Jedi Temple with Order 66 because they trusted him completely, and didn't shoot him on sight for perceiving him as a Jedi.

    Actually a really good point about the baby's names. They should have had a scene where they're having a playful argument over what to call the child if it's a boy or a girl. And agreed on those names. That would humanise the characters even more, it would be a fun scene.

      Four totally different emotional states do not naturally lead from one state to another. There can be cause or effects in any order because the reasons for any of the emotional states can be completely different things.
