@@MarkMatthewsMTB 11 has a new sensor, so maybe it can be better. Hero 9 in your other video was ridiculously bad, maybe due to low ISO... did you dial down the EV Comp that time?
I would totally agree , the color and low light are better on the 11 as for stabilization i wouldn't say one is better, they look different ....the max is almost too smooth which adds the the slow affect whereas the 11 looks alittle more hectic adding to the speed affect , both looked adequately stable though
I agree, even though I felt surprised how much shaking there was compaired to the max, i felt a sence of danger with how fast he was going with the go pro 11
Thinking about taking a go pro for the travel baseball team I help coach I don't need as much of the stabilization seeing as most of the time this is going to be fence mounted and then used for the players and their film review sessions.
Hi Mark, if i record at 5.3k 8:7 it’s possible to crop it afterwards in a 16:9 hyperview correct? Or am i getting something wrong here? If so, isn’t a better to record at 8:7 all the time to have the freedom to crop/reframe afterwards? Or am i getting something terribly wrong here😅
Great video 👍 I have a question for you. I do motorcycle POV. With Hero9 i have the MediaMod which eliminates the wind noise. What can i do to Max to eliminate the wind noise?
Have you tried to bump the ISO max up to 3200 or 6400 on the 11? It helps with that stabilisation in low light for sure, as does a higher frame rate (at the cost of the motion blur).
I agree, but I'm still leaning on the max more because of the exact same reason you've mentioned, wide yet taller view and smooth or flowy. with the gopro max, it feels more immersive, body movement doesn't affect the video that much, but as a viewer who also rides, I can still see or imagine how crazy fast you ride and how gnarly and rough the trails are, and I like the 360 effect? because I can see how you move your bike below you, which helps with the immersion and also helpful for my skill😄. Whereas the gopro 11, although hyperview, it's not as tall; smooth but not as steady or flowy, like it projects the rider's sudden body shifts/movements; and lastly, not as immersive. But it's action packed💪. max: relaxing? yet immersive. 11: hyperview, fast and action packed. But that's just me, and knowing your work, I can't wait for you to do your magic with it🤙 waiting for helmet cam comparison haha
Amazing! I'd love to see which one is better for instagram content like stories and reels and filming in portrait mode or 9 16 ratio. What do you think?
Question being a MAX owner for years now and thinking I have it dialed for the most part after researching different settings for what I use it for. Would you keep your personal settings even in different settings ex: more light same colors maybe a lil less. And or completely different like gym training videos with the max
I make small adjustments depending on the light, and sometimes I will keyframe in editing to adjust exposure throughout different parts of the trail. It's better to make the footage a little darker and edit it brighter because you can't really darken footage that is too bright.
Thanks for that video. I have two questions. Is recording in 8:7 and later changing it to 16:9 in the app the same as Hyperview? When you record in 24fps, is your timeline when editing also 24fps? A piece of advice also, get the Stuntman chestmount. It's way mor stable and takes out those micro shudders you have on both cameras with the chesty.
Thanks for the chest mount tip! To answer your questions: no hyperview is always in 16:9, I don’t believe you can do it in post. Timeline always matches frame rates for best results
The sound on my max is also far superior compared to hero 10 how is the 11 mic , my motorcycle sounds great on max , hero all wind ? I’d like to hear your opinion on mic
Would be interesting to see how it looks with a faster FPS like 60 , to me the 24fps looks jerky, fast moving action is usually smoother looking at higher frame rates.
@@talktofrank1990 its a ceative balance, and if you stick to the 180 degree shuttler rule then motion blur should be correct still, you can also add motion blur in your post production, as ever there are not many hard and fast rules and everything has pro's and cons.
Like them both, Max was easier to watch. I've meant to comment for awhile on your intro, of all the channels I watch your's is hands down my favourite. Cheers
It would be interesting to see GoPro Max vs GoPro Hero 11 with Max Mod too, if it's any different from Hero 9. Also 11 with a higher ISO, since it can do that.
Also 11 is finally not jaming all the time. Software mucho better. I record with Hero 11 from chin mount and stabilisation is almost too smooth even in low light. To be fair my previous GoPro (9) was shooting very well in low light when it had correct settings (Gopro Labs shutter angle settings). Unfortunetaly camera had constant sd card errors which was so annoying.
Max still outperforming new gopros. Max footage just look way more better. Only downside is max resolution is maximally 1440p in hero mode. I wonder how hero11 handles higher iso. Max is damaging the footage already on iso1600. Another downside are the lenses on max as they cant be replaced. I have just damaged mine during 3rd ride with camera and now i have to go for replacement camera. Also live stream setup is better on hero 11 from what I have researched. Still if I will be looking for camera again, I would go for max all the way!
Yea the insta360 you can’t change the lenses either, I don’t think it’s possible with any 360 camera because the lenses need to come ride to the edge of the camera body. Hopefully future technology will get around this!
just bought the 11 black and...I'm pretty disapointed with how narrow the field of view is comparing to good old Max, of course the soft, stabilization, low light performance etc. is improved but I wonder why they didn't use lens as wide as in Max, that would be the gamechanger...
All do respect video only opinion max looks cool but quality is key 1080 is early 2000s no reason at all anyone should shoot 1080 with 4k tvs and 5k phones that's ridiculous and also 24 frames is to choppy and studders alot if you watch gopro on a big TV always shoot 30 and up to help with there refreshing rates! ! Or use nd filter to get motion blur if desired. The missing frames are more of a distraction than an effect, but you're an amazing rider that's not an issue, haha
go pro 11? 😂My friend, the last one I bought was model 3, after that they all had faults in the battery, in the focus, the sound, the configuration... after gopro 3 anything is better.
Get a deal on the 11 or Max here to support me:

Thank you very much!

Does the deal on the hero 11 only work in the US
Great video! Thank you 🙏🏻 was thinking of upgrading to to the max lens with my 11 but isn’t really necessary
I wonder what results would you get if you installed the Max Lens Mod on the 11.
No better than the 9 or 10 really since you can’t do all the new features like hyperview or full frame when the mod lens is installed.
@@MarkMatthewsMTB That makes sense.

I don’t think so I’ve shot in 8:7 then cropped and it looks narrower. I think hyperview warps 8:7 into 15:9
Great video 👍

No idea, I haven’t found the max to have a problem with wind noise, at least at mountain bike speeds i

Yes but I wanted matching settings for a fair comparison and the low frame rate/lower iso is my favourite look for the max.
@@MarkMatthewsMTB looking forward to seeing your clips once you get more time on the 11 💪
Would be great to see a vertical footage settings video on the 11.
I've seen lots of people try and I hate the distorted handlebar look of the hyperview when mounted vertically, but I still need to try myself.
Where do you mount your GoPro, looking for an angle like just not sure which mount?.
Chest mount in this video
Curious why 24fps for action like this? Low framerates give me headaches

I agree!! Thanks for this comment. I'm also so used to the look of the Max footage it's hard to imagine the 11 feeling as smooth to watch.

Good to know, I’m the opposite and prefer lower frame rates
If you have the frame rate higher you don't get the motion blur and so the footage doesn't look as fast

I think it's the hyperboost auto doesn't work very well and crop too much you must try hyperboost standard with ND filter 😉 (with shutter auto)
I'm thinking that too!! Thanks for mentioning this.
@@MarkMatthewsMTB I had tested that this summer with the 10, with nd 16, very nice ;-)
Didn't know that EV comp -0.5 helps hypersmooth, i thought it was the opposite. Interesting.
Me too but someone recommended it to me and I noticed it helps!
I'll give it a cry 👍
it definetelly does as it doesn't force your shutter to go low on low light conditions. Result is better stabilization and less motion blur.
