Been a Tool fan for 25 years and no cover has been as great as this!
This cover is phenomenal. I also highly recommend "The Pot" and "Lateralus" by Brass Against.
Same.
@HenrikHolmesson fine covers but NOTHING like this
Agreed.
i hear ya, and im with ya... Damn this is so good!!!!!
A TH-cam short algorithm brought me here, and I'm happy it did.
If you asked me yesterday, would you like to hear a drumline in a tool song, the answer would have been no. However, that was yesterday.
Lmao same. Saw the short, immediately looked this up
Me three
Same
same..lured by a short .. Great cover! never heard of these folks until this morning.
You don't know what you're missing then.... Danny Carey is one of the greats.
Never heard of you. Ever. Algorithm pulled up a short of this. Absolutely mind blown. You guys are awesome and this tribute unbelievable. I’ve listened to this 10 times since I heard it last night. White Rabbit/Have a Cigar - what a mix of taste and all executed to perfection!
Similar experience regarding the algorithm. I don't even listen to Tool.
🤘
Same here
Me 2
Same
Please do a whole Tool cover album.
Oh my Lord....YES!!! I want to hear their renditions of Descending, Wings for Mary and 46&2
Sober please!!!!!!!
@@VirginiatheOpossum I'll try to stop drinking. I promise!
Aaabsolutely this. Saw a clip and it absolutely stopped me in my tracks, I could only think of "I hope they have more tool covers!"
SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!
Man that guy is absolutely shredding that antenna!
It's called a theramin. Pretty cool instrument. It uses electromagnetic fields to make sound based on where your hand is.
@@Mucuroz thank you so much i was gonna search thru every single comment to find out wtf that was. That was..... Idk even what to say. The most unique sound I've ever heard and it was literally perfect for this.
@@844spyder One of the more well known uses of the theramin is in Good Vibrations by The Beach Boys
I too came to the comments to find out what that was called.
Some people will try to tell you that he's playing some kind of instrument, but don't believe them. It's actually a device that causes different universes to converge. This band called Elephant Revival is actually another universe's band called Tool.
Holy shit! I didn't think anyone could cover TOOL as well as keep an original sound of their own. This is magical.
Agreed
Also agree!
These female vocals sound amazing in Tool's dark vibe. Also it's fun to see how it takes a whole band of drummers to replace Danny Carey.
At least 8 percussionists to replicate his chops! 😂
And 1 Estepario to make Danny look like a beginner th-cam.com/video/X8S6qet59vA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=uHNSgq6OkykZHtR9
And no it didn't "take 8" to replicate.... That's bluegrass fools
They also needed a stuffed penguin. Danny is truly amazing
That was the first thing I thought too.
Probably the best Tool cover I’ve ever heard! Bravo!
Agreed!!!
I personally have 20K of the 22K views! So good.
Indeed my friend!!!
Everything they do is top notch. They’re fantastic.
By FAR, HANDS DOWN, the best tool cover I've ever seen or heard
that guy with the "YES!" as soon as the guitar starts and confirms his suspicion of which song was about to play is precious
I had the pleasure of being at Rick Wakeman's 50th birthday concert - in a tiny church in south Harrow, London, because he'd gone there as a kid, and it still had a proper organ.
There was a similar 'yes!' after Rick responded to requests and duly played Jane Seymour.
Hahahah! I didn't hear that the first time. Fantastic!
You know buddy was sitting there saying “nooooo way …YES”!!!
Love it
That would have been me!!! 😎
This needs to be put on Spotify!
Please add to Spotify! I want it in my liked list and to share
I'm here because the shorts sent me to Spotify with an amazing new add to my covers playlist. I was deeply disappointed.
Spotify is too shitty for this masterpiece to be brought there.
I can’t find another TOOL cover that even comes close to producing their sound. You guys did the impossible and with your own touch. It’s freaking beautiful
Look up the lateralus clone cover 😊
th-cam.com/video/mYKLvYGqaC0/w-d-xo.html
th-cam.com/video/8zfYO9sZjrE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=dDiSNgoETZevDKAC
I would recommend The Pot by Brass Against
@@taydencornish Why you do recommend it? Just checked it out and its a carbon copy of the original but with worse mixing and less distinctive vocals. If I wanted that I'd just put lateralus on. To be worth listening a cover needs to bring something new to the table.
Something about her delivery made me recognize how beautifully written these lyrics are. This song is an important perspective.
Well said
@@bt8314agreed well said
I pulled up the lyrics just to savour the beauty in the writing
@@derbymtyes, his lyrics are unrivaled
You know who's lyrics are these?
Took 5 drummers on snare to emulate Danny on one drum. Bravo!
lol.
"Look what they need to mimic a fraction of our power."
It's still an amazing cover though.
One of the highlights of the rendition... IMHO second to her voice...
@@kuriadams9138 Oh for sure, I was just being snarky.
Don’t be a “Tool”
Probably the best Tool cover I've ever heard.
the kids 46 and 2 was better imo
@@mephiston001 That was fucking stellar. Definitely #2 on my list. But come on... dude's playing a fucking Theremin.
@@andrewjhollins theremins are overrated lol jk
Easily
@@mephiston001pretty good but this is better
Her vocals are so entrancing.
Nice TVSOR pic
@@hetornhetorn congrats you are the first person to notice it
The hardest part of covering a tool song is capturing the mysteriousness that tool produces, you guys did it perfectly. I believe Tool would be proud
Yeah ✌️
I agree user. You can tell the lead singer is very focused on the vocal, nut most of all, the lyrics. She is gesturing with her left hand and you know she is feeling every lyric
Tool liked this version so much they now pay ER mechanicals
I want to believe that there is an universe where Maynard J Keenan listens to this on his headphones
It's wast, so why not.
What if he already does?
Putting this cover in his mouth like a piece of cake
Considering the vibe he's into in Puscifer, I'm sure he was forwarded this video. Probably not on headphones though, lol
I bet he would, or likely does. *There is a kids cover (O'Keefe Foundation) where a tiny girl does amazing too. This singer is not from Earth, so mystical.
I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve listened to this
Why... Why... WHY...can't I "LIKE" this more than once?!?
How many of you are now listening to Elephant Revival’s discography?
One of my new favorite bands.
After 50+ times of listening to this master piece you can now listen the second voice. And that other lady really feels that "watch the temple topple over" part!!! I love it! 💗
outstanding comment I listen deep too
I've been a huge Tool fan for over twenty-five years and this brought tears to my eyes. Absolutely beautiful cover
Yes this….
Some big fat bass drums would of been a great addition 👌
@@Berg-vm5ht would "have" been...
I think I prefer this to Tool's live version honestly
Us moment
I love how the vocalist captures the tenderness of Maynards voice and the meaning behind the words... sounds incredible.
_Vocalists._ There's two, singing together in perfect harmony, which on its own does *SO* much to make this performance as great as it is.
They preserved the tool spirit, feel and message while at the same time delivered it elegantly and classy with their own unique way ,perfect cover ,bravo!
Dude this is the best tool cover I've ever heard. Their vocal harmony for this song perfectly.
By far, and it not even close, the best tool cover ever.
This is very good but you should check out Beard of Harmony's version of "Right in Two". Also a very good cover
Also O’Keefe Music Foundation cover of 46 & 2. All kids and f’n incredible!
some kids did an amazing cover of 46 and 2. also brass against did an amazing cover.
7 percussionists = 1 Danny Carey. Amazing cover, bold choice and totally nailed it!
I'm not a musician but it sure sounds like they sing the bridge in a different key and it SLAYS ❤
Finally we have proof he is in fact an octopus
@@FrankWhite1990 😁😆🥰
@@FrankWhite1990 you win some cookies for that comments 😁
The first thing that came to my mind😂
This is a “holy cow” level of a cover song. I love this so much! I honestly think I prefer the tone from the vocals on this more than the original….there I said it, I can’t take it back.
I haven't yet worked out exactly what it is yet, but there's something here that explains why Billy from A Perfect Circle let Maynard be their vocalist, even though Billy wanted a female vocalist originally... I'm not sure exactly how they do, but "I know the pieces fit..." 🤘
@@crouton976 Maynard is a super effeminate singer, it is that simple. He nails the female qualities of his voice so well, more so than the male qualities I'd say. It isn't necessarily about high pitched / low pitched / "range" like with Freddie Mercury, just more of a female "feeling" that hones so well, even though his range is pretty great too!
Us
Holy cow??? Cmon really?? I was thinking more on the lines of Holy f**king shit.!
Maynard would like a word with you….. *shuts door*
As a tool fan for 30 years. This was mind blowing. Instant sub and fan
The vocalist has mastered this song for sure, not taking anything away from the band but those two ladies are just wow
As a fan of Tool, i see several who try and cover tool just butcher the music, i came across your band and this version of Schism and all i can say is Absolutely beautiful.
Wow!!! How technical are those vocals. Maynard would be super proud!!!
Bonnie is incredible vocally and with instruments too. Plus the saw and washboard.

This is. Just. F***ing. Incredible.
Greetings,
I FUCKING AGREE
Kind regards.
I can’t count the number of times I’ve watched this so far. Over 20 at least, first time. This is by far the best tool cover I’ve ever seen. I can’t believe this has been out for ten months and the first time I saw this was 5/24. The girl on violin is so pretty, the singers too!!! Amazing band. Wow thank you so much for this.
Thank you for introducing me to Tool ❤
This cover gave me chills for 5 minutes and 29 seconds straight.
Same, it already hurt my skin 😂😂
I’ve never heard of this band but I think I’ve probably watched this video about 30 times today
Please release this as a single, it’s a fantastic cover
I don’t care. I seriously don’t care. This is the best cover I’ve heard of.
The ethereal vocals, theramin, upright bass, cello, drum line, new dimensions in music
I know the pieces fit
'Cause I watched them fall away
Mildewed and smouldering
Fundamental differing
Pure intention juxtaposed
Will set two lovers' souls in motion
Disintegrating as it goes
Testing our communication
The light that fueled our fire then
Has burned a hole between us so
We cannot seem to reach an end
Crippling our communication
I know the pieces fit
'Cause I watched them tumble down
No fault, none to blame
It doesn't mean I don't desire
To point the finger, blame the other
Watch the temple topple over
To bring the pieces back together
Rediscover communication
The poetry that comes from
The squaring off between
And the circling is worth it
Finding beauty in the dissonance
There was a time that the pieces fit
But I watched them fall away
Mildewed and smouldering
Strangled by our coveting
I've done the math enough to know
The dangers of our second guessing
Doomed to crumble unless we grow
And strengthen our communication
Cold silence has
A tendency to
Atrophy any
Sense of compassion
Between supposed lovers
Between supposed lovers
I know the pieces fit
I know the pieces fit
I know the pieces fit
I know the pieces fit
I know the pieces fit
I know the pieces fit
I know the pieces fit
And I know the pieces fit
I have to say after multiple, MULTIPLE listenings, this is one of the most beautiful, amazingly powerful performances of all time. Like, seriously.
Months later this is still the top song in my head every single day. Adore the original, but this is next level
Just read this comment not realising it was me that wrote it! XD! Still here folks!
When people cover Tool, they often sacrifice mystique and atmosphere for technicality and emulation.. but they struck the right balance. Beautifully haunting and ethereal as this song should feel.
This has everything in a song that makes me weep with joy; Tool song, wicked strings, theramin, bad ass snares, soulful base, funky guitar, angelic lyrics, and a happy dude with flowers at the end of his pigtails. I may have just died.
I understand.
The dude with the mohawk is living for this moment❤❤❤
Right? He looked like the happiest chap on the planet
HER VOICE!! = 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
What a band. Especially both Singers. Listened to the part from 0:50 to 1:25. never heard lead- and backing vocals fitting that perfectly together. Unbelievable. Highest Level . Benchmark.
The singer's voice is so otherworldly...it was like the song was written for her. Her voice would compliment maynards In a duet. That woman could be reading out my death sentence in court and I would swoon and ask her to read it again.
This was phenomenal! Loooong time Tool die hard. Apparently, I’m also an Elephant Revival fan now too. Very well done everyone.
I missed hearing Bonnie’s voice. So ethereal and beautiful.
Are they back touring then???!!!
They've played some in Colorado
Who is this???
just found this band. EXCELLENT. i am now 72 years old now and it just goes to show you are never to old to rock out. AGE IS JUST A NUMBER. 🤟
Wow! There aren't enough adjectives to properly describe this masterpiece!
I'm just blown away!!!
Likewise
Her beautiful voice makes the lyrics hurt my soul even more. 🖤
This is easily the single most impressive Tool cover ever, and I've been a Tool fan since the 90's. Hell, I know how to play this song on bass. That bassist rocking his upright on it was outstanding. Great work, overall.
Tool fan since 93. Without a doubt the best cover of any of their songs that I’ve ever seen. Subbed. Absolutely fantastic.
Are you a boy wearing vans, 501s?
been a Tool fan since the 90s. This a 10/10 cover. Can confidently confirm this collectively has every tool fan's approval.
You want a diploma? who the f cares if you have been a fan since the 90's
don't give him shit that he's OGT! sure all fans of TooL definitely have listened to the entire catalog, but if you haven't experienced waiting on another album you don't understand the pain this man has endured.
@DethroneSWEDEN why you so angry in life? Go project your daddy issues elsewhere kiddo. Or better, hit the gym.
Those opening chords, whether it be Justin Chancellor's bass, violin, or anything else, will never fail to pull me in. You know you're in for something special
I think the band would appreciate this. Drums get much respect - nothing beats Danny's talent. This was beautiful and respectful. Been a tool fan for 24 years and I absolutely love this.
To anyone reading this, no matter your struggle, I believe in you, and I'm proud of you. You are loved, and you are worthy. You matter.
That is by far the best cover of any tool song. So much depth. Talk about understanding the task at hand.
Who else found this through the shorts?
so glad i did. they’re awesome!!!
Just now...freakin beautiful!
👋
🖐️
Yup
If you can cover tool this well, your original stuff must be amazing. I'm about to go and explore ❤
It takes 8 mortal drummers to replicate Danny Carey's playing. This is the coolest cover ever.
Not quite sure how I arrived but so glad I did. Jaw dropping
I already deeply regretted not going to this show, and hearing this amplifies that regret x1000.
So many goosebumps. This entire show was awesome.
Geezus... I think you guys understood the assignment!! 😍🤘❤️🤯
Ive never heard such an amazing TOOL cover in my whole life. You played it the same yet made it your own at the same time. Amazing.
The voices absolutely fit this cover like a glove. Haunting and ethereal. Amazing. Glad I found this through Shorts...
I’m obsessed with this cover. It’s incredible
I never thought the world needed a Tool cover with a drum line. I stand corrected.
I hope the members of Tool get to see this.
As a staunch Tool fan, my only (and very, very nitpicky) take away is how short the some of the note holding is, but at the same time I also realize how insane Maynard is in being able to do it. This is an amazing cover and if I were there I'd be beyond pumped to hear it and would've been livid jumping out of my seats. You guys deserve massive props to not only pull off the song and still do it justice. Honestly one of the best Tool covers ever, and that's really hard to do.
The singing is hauntingly beautiful
The cover I didn't know I needed in my life holy crap !
Tool is legendary because they can bring out emotion you didn’t know existed. This group definitely captured some of that. Well done!
I’ve been listening to tool forever but I’ve never seen how they make me feel summed up in one sentence like that so accurately. Cheers mate.
I’ve never heard of this band but now I’m into it. This was amazing!
Me too
Really amazing
ER is AWESOME!
it's beet 10 months. how is it going?
@@confunctius um… I’m doin alright. I ate too many onions at lunch and I’m certain that I’ll be getting the heartburns soon. Wish me luck!
2 human Vocalists = 1 Maynard
7 human Drummers = 1 Danny
12 human Musicians to approximate Tool.
Truly excellent cover.
In all fairness. Danny uses MIDI drum pads which he runs through a PC to synthesize to what he wants. Not to take away from what Danny does, but I can see it taking several folks to emulate what he does. Don't believe me? Danny even shows off his kit on the internet. It's not something he hides.
Not an easy song to do because of the polyrhythms. Probably one of the hardest covers of Tools you can ever try. And they just nailed it perfect.
I have seen Tool perform this live several times and I gotta say I think I prefer this.
Holy fuck balls, i hunt down tool covers and this is one of the best!
I cannot get enough of this cover. The best band to cover Tool and capture the vibe! So awesome!
Not an easy band to cover for sure!
The only band I’ve seen change a tool song and make it their own is actually Tool… until now. That was almost an out of body experience watching that for the first time. Well done Elephant Revival!!
This is epic.... I like how the drummer on the left is channelling his inner Maynard with that hair.
Never thought I would find a Tool cover that I enjoy. But this comes extremely close to being better than the original.
It's a great cover, I just wonder why they cut two of the main verses from the song. "The poetry that comes from
The squaring off between
And the circling is worth it
Finding beauty in the dissonance
There was a time that the pieces fit
But I watched them fall away
Mildewed and smouldering
Strangled by our coveting
I've done the math enough to know
The dangers of our second guessing
Doomed to crumble unless we grow
And strengthen our communication" is like the most powerful part of the song I was really hoping to hear it.
I noticed that as well, I love that section as it gets heavier. Not sure why they'd choose not to do the full song, they sound fantastic.
Honest guess is just time crunching. I used to play guitar at a mega church and there’d be special days where the band had to shove a bunch of songs together back to back and straight up only play like half a song and shift to the next one smoothly
I don’t know why but I like how they made the song their own and maybe leaving that part out felt right to them. Normally I would say covering Tool is fools errand but the way they did it really tickled my fancy. And my fancy isn’t tickled often 😋
I can stop watching this. The best tool cover I’ve ever heard, and the best cover that they do, IMHO
That was sweet... I wish the outtro was extended a bit. That was sounding pretty crazy.
I listed to this about ten times a week now. Addicted.
Her voice is spectacular
Thank you algorithm for bringing me to this video. What a beautiful voice she has. Amazing cover.
Edit: just got to the breakdown part with the theremin and the band killed it.
You mean the theremine right?
@@ReivajLive 😂, voice to text sometimes isn’t reliable.
What an overload to my senses. From goosebumps to tears of angelic emotional simulation. That wasnt a cover. That was an exsample of taking a great song, and expanding its foundation into a masterpiece. 🤯🤯🤯🤯 WOW.
I couldn't have said it better myself.
I could listen to you play Tool covers all day and night. Absolutely beautiful and amazing performance! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
By far one of the greatest tool covers I've heard in a long time. The use of the theremin caught me completely off guard
They did really well!! And they are talented at playing instruments, more than one would think
You crushed it. I'm not a fan of covers, especially a band like Tool, but you all kept it true to the original, while making it your own. Bravo.
That snare line is pretty clean.
It was freakin RAD! So glad I got to see this in person! I've been watching ER since they played at the Stage Stop in Rollinsville well over a decade ago. It has been a joy watching their enormous success over all the years. Love them all!
Not sure whether I like more this one or the original. They are both cool in their own way. This one is softer and they still managed to create a very good atmosphere, with an explosive outro. Good job. Straight in my favourites.
I'm playing this tonight on my radio show I love it so much. Hey guys I need you to come to the UK and tour here so we can see you!
