- As Elephant Revival gears up for their upcoming show at Red Rocks, they have decided to release their cover of Jefferson Airplane’s classic, "White Rabbit”. The psychedelic tune is perfectly suited by Bonnie Paine's signature vibrato as the rest of the band trades in their acoustic instruments for ones accompanied by electric distortion effects.
This cover of “White Rabbit” was taken from Elephant Revival’s 2016 performance at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. Previously released videos from this show include "The Garden" and "Hello You Who".
Elephant Revival looks forward to their second year headlining Red Rocks, with support from The Oh Hellos and Mandolin Orange. Mark your calendars for Sunday, May 21st, 2017. Purchase tickets here: bit.ly/ERTGRR2017
“I have been introduced to some amazing music through my dad's record collection. When my sisters and I had just formed a band and were getting ready for rehearsal, my dad pulled out this Jefferson Airplane album and said, “Now here's a song I think you guys could have fun with." He played us ‘White Rabbit’ and we all really liked it, so decided to learn it. I like how the story of Alice in Wonderland sheds light on the ways which we define the world we are in and our confronting of fears through dreamwork. I thought it would be fun to play ‘White Rabbit’ at Red Rocks knowing my dad would be there and also loves this song."

This is a perfect example where each band member knows EXACTLY what they need to do and doesn't try to show off. 10/10
My thoughts exactly
Ok, these guys are on a whole other level. Instant fan for life. Schism brought me here. This cover will keep me listening forever more!
Same here. I knew she was going to kill this because i knew the same haunting quality of her voice that worked for Schism would work for this just as well.
Same as well. Her voice is just awesome. Plus like how band is overall.
Same here. And im hooked! Hmmm somethings going on here 🤔
I think im following in your footsteps, started with their short appearing so ofcourse needed the full thing and now im here... where next!?
Schism and the algorithm led me to these guys as well and they are amazing
I'm shocked I've not found them till now...June 2024...
I hear ya
There is always more to be discovered, Grasshopper.
You guys just showed up in a random Short in my feed for your Schism cover and now I've gone down the rabbit hole, fittingly finding myself here. I love the creativity and joy in your music
lol I swear same thing with me. I've never even heard of then before but that Tool cover was sick
Same thing happened to me not 5 minutes ago. lol
Exactly this for me too just now
Absolutely the best cover of White Rabbit I've ever heard.
I reckon Molly Tuttle does it better tbh but this is pretty good
Holy crap! It's Oct 17 2023 and I just discovered this band. Her vocals are mesmerizing. They are spectacular. So far I've watched 4 videos. Amazing and astounding musicians!
Same. The schism cover is delightful
Unfortunately they broke in 2018 when Daniel Rodriguez and Bonnie Paine relationship ended after 14-years. They occasionally unite for small performances though.
@@Insolation1 Wow sad to hear that. Thanks for the info. Appreciate it.
Same here. Im a straight up metal head, but this is so good.
@@Insolation1
Wow. I went down the music rabbit hole and actually found the white rabbit. This is incredible. More!
There's no ignoring the raw passion and power of Ms. Slick's original, but dang, these guys nailed this.👍
Yes. Best comment
Never seen a banjo played like that before. I always knew the instrument was underrated.
Playing style inda reminds me of a cittern or balalaika.
If Elephant Revival doesn't become one of the most popular bands of this generation, we've failed as a species!
Hopefully they write their own tunes. Cover bands are good for parties but not for longevity.
@@therapist6328they do write their own stuff, you obviously don't know anything about what you're talking about.
Calm down. They are a great stylistic cover band. Meaning they dramatically cover songs in their own style, which is fine. But it’s just is easily replicable and once it’s done once it’s done twice.
@@danielfuller4129 they're not a cover band they write their own shit, a cover band is a band that only performs covers.
@@metalmacabre9991 Well i, like many others, only know of them because of their covers but good on you to defend them. Everything i heard sounds great.
I am embarrassed I really never listened to these guys!! Amazing.
I can't stop listening to this!!! The violin is masterfully done.
😮Yeahhh the sound of violín is Hipnotic 😮
That is the best cover of White Rabbit I’ve ever heard. All the instruments were in perfect sync and the gal singing is off the charts perfect. Well done.
I recommend hear same cover song with In The Woods too. Its amazing
The gal is a woman named Bonnie.
Watch Molly Tuttle White Rabbit 😉
Check out time arrow and if you like kindly let me know what you think ✌️❤️
The sound of this cover is just much "fuller". Excellent.
The instrumentation is perfect. It is a brilliant new way to bring out the essence of the psychedelic era.
Is it just me or does Bonnie brighten your mood as well? She simply oozes goodness. I bet she rescues puppies, kittens, and farm animals when she’s not singing to your soul. 😀
She seems like a warm person. Beautiful voice and beautiful to watch.
i met her...she is a highly evolved human being
When I watched this video, I could not help to think the singer is doing exactly what she is meant to do. The joy radiating from her is infectious.
she is joy
The lady singing is channeling Grace pretty well there ♡
The acoustics of Red Rocks adds some wonderful extra echos that really enhance this song.
This just never gets old, excellent rendition.
Exactly!
Where was I when these magnificent musicians began playing? I cant believe i missed it....
I didn't think I would find a cover that would do it justice. Clearly I was wrong. Excellent!
Lol Blue Man Group does an excellent job of covering it!
Just came across these awesome musicians and you will not be disappointed with their music covers. Some top tier covers right here.
I have but one criticism, purely selfish, the intro needs to be about 20 minutes long. Spectacular.
David Gilmour would and should be, very proud of 100% of this. Y’all are doing all the songs that should never be done. Soooo goooood.
That violin is haunting...
A new Scarlet Rivera 👍
I wish this was about 10 times longer. Incredible
replay ... replay
Ah! My thoughts exactly needed too be a bit slower - seemed a little rushed - but backing music beautiful and her vocals lush
@@wotsthisay Try playing at .75, makes quite a difference.
That's the original story of this tune. Its never long enough. We always want more. They gave it more but and we still want more.
And about 10 times slower
Totally awesome. The violin rocked. But I do believe "Alice" deserves a 20 minute version.
Yes for the violin and guitar
Try the version “Great Society “ did. Grace Slick’s first band ,when she wrote White Rabbit. Her first husband ,Darby Slick was with her. Then there is the Jefferson Starship version from 1975 at the Fillmore East, with Grace, that is a little over 7 min. Great intro . The Airplane, like all bands when live, stretched different songs from time to time.
Indeed. It abrubtly ends just when it’s getting good... So fking annoying... So yes I say Alice Definitely needs a 20 minute version with a proper ending.
This is great! I *never* thought I would appreciate a cover of White Rabbit without Gracie Slick singing! What made this great was, they didn't try to mimic Jefferson Airplane (Or Great Society)...they made this in their own version, while vocally staying true to the original. This is very hard to do and why 99% of covers miss, especially with an all time classic like White Rabbit. Kudos!
Absolutely amazing, even though I'm a "Jefferson Airplane" addict devoted to Grace Slick - used to live two blocks from them in San Francisco in the '60s. But this has got to be one of the most amazing performances I've ever heard. The violin was an incredibly creative and magnificent addition to the intro. Wish I could have been there to hear it live - I certainly would have been in tears.
I really hope Elephant Revival is making a revival. What a unique style of folk music, love it!
This is a cover. This is music. This is art.
Another example of very talented musicians out there you don’t know about. Now more of us know 🤗👍. Thank you for posting.
Grace sang it with an urgency that climaxed into desperation,, at the same time pacing the cadence with what seemed like,, and guaranteed unlimited horsepower in her vocal delivery...that planted the seeds for a classic that will remain timeless...
Amazing rendition...her voice is beautiful
Oh man..I haven't had goosebumps like that in a looong time. Pure beauty!
Cover.. sometimes BETTER
My faith in music has been restored, ❤
No... faith in music is always there. Faith in artists!!! Great artists here.
Judging from this list of emotional comments; I would say that the band is a success at stirring emotions whether it’s someone else’s material or their own doesn’t matter does it?
Been a long time since listening to a song gave me goosebumps. The joy with which they play it is enchanting. Fantastic.
🎉
Something about her! Best cover I’ve seen yet.
Finally, I found a group with real musical talent and a complete sound
Im glad they finally started touring agin i was really disappointed when they took that hiatus
all around great performance...unique and well done!
Cover versions are seldom as good as the original but this one was brilliant!
This is the best version ever. The Intensity of the lead singer is amazing.
No,No,No the best was the original of Jefferson Airplane at Woodstock.
@@Schaubeke .... You should have seen them do this live, in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, as I did, in 1968 .... 😂
Crazy good violin and banjo really bring out the haunting melody. Nice vocal. Well done. 👏
What a beautiful rendition of the original song ❤
So I randomly found these guys on a Instagram reel for their cover of schism from tool. Checked out a few more songs and all I got to say is hot damn. Wow!
I've never heard anything more beautiful.
Rock banjo for the win
Ive always felt like this song was underdeveloped with a LOT more room to grow. This is the most interesting version I've heard yet!
🎉
Wow. What a band. What a cover. Wow.
TRANSCENDENTAL FOLK ROCK
Finally someone can sing this in the spirit of Grace
Love this!!!
She’s got graces voice and the way the original was sung brilliantly,. .
Love this! Just added it to my "White Rabbit Obsession" playlist!
Another high quality version
That movie gave this song a whole new purpose and life. Matrix really brought this out. Thank you for your wonderful work.
We are living in a MATRIX right now....FACT! Yes... It's a virtual reality...and there are MANY other realities...I've been to a couple of them...... Namaste.

Singing this song while drumming is just beyond...she's amazing!
Just found em by chance and a total fan. I need to back to colorado to see them at Red Rocks.
really liked the female vocalist, she is fantastic! the whole band is absolutely amazing.
Couldn’t believe what I was listening to. Just magically performed.
I miss you so much already Bonnie & Co!! Much love, I hope this isn't goodbye forever.
They broke up!!?? When...
Between the violin and the banjo I must say that this cover is simply beautiful.
That awesome! It made me cry! I have always loved Grace Slick and the Jefferson Airplane. You guys gave a great tribute to them! Thank you!
Have come back to watch this video posting numerous times. Bonnie's vocals are indeed, truly incredible. It takes tremendous lung power to pull this off. But the bassist is phenomenal as well - his fingers flying. The banjo-ist is also great, as is the young lady on the violin and wow, both the two percussionists. I used to live two blocks from Grace Slick and the Airplane (who at least once performed for free in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco), and this is a powerful tribute performance. Wish I had a gazillion dollars so I could underwrite their appearance at a local venue out here in the rural puckerbrush!!! (And in our town, the cows outnumber people by at least 3:1!) I do so hope that Elephant Revival is alive and well, and continuing a tradition of great music - both old and new.
I absolutely love the original version of this song, and always enjoy trying to find great covers of classic songs on youtube. I started playing this one and found the instrumentals to be incredible and was just waiting for The voice. Could she approach the greatness of Grace Slick? Then wow, she really did give a unique and very cool vocal performance.

Bonnie, saw you live when you played a gig quite a few years back in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Look at you now! from great to even greater!!!!
Pure beauty!! What a voice, an everyone is in the pocket.
❤
I think this is the first cover of White Rabbit i've ever seen that actually captures the feel of the original. Even though they've added their own twist to it.
I've been a fan several years...how have I missed this song until now? Glad I landed here today! Never heard them do a Rock cover so classic with their own spicy flavors added! Bonnie's voice fits this part sooo perfectly, and was that amazing sound really coming from a banjo! Must be an enchanted banjo!
I just discovered this song as well! Same as you, I've been a fan for several years and also wondered how I missed this gem!
And same as you, the sounds coming from the banjo were mind-blowing!
Magical banjo
Not so much enchanted and magical and more electrical and distorted........Or if you've never heard of "electricity"....... Then yeah, it's magically enchanted.🙄
@@28russ Ok , so you can explain it and make it sound so mundane and ordinary. But I say they used their creativity, and talent to make it magical, and enchanted.
I ❤ THIS VERSION!!
MAKES ME FEEL EXOTIC, AND I HAVE TO DANCE !
Whenever my world gets confusing I listen to this song to establish a baseline on reality.
Excellent cover.
😅
it gives me chills...great performance, especially by the singer. Kudos!
I am overwhelmed by this version of "white rabbit". thanks to the genius and voice of Grace Slick once more immortalized with this rare generation of talent. Thank you Elephant Revival.
This music reminds me in paul kantner.....
I totally have a crush on Bonnie Paine after seeing this.
before I clicked on the link t give a listen, I thought it was Bjork. Now I can add them to my new faves.
The musicianship is perfected, and the sound mixing is incredible that’s a whole different art as well magnificent
That lad playing the cello is in the groove. 🙂👍
The Voice❤
That banjo intro... my goodness...
exactly what i thought.. the effects are great..
So glad i found yall!! Or yall found me!!! Definitely gonna be looking for a show!!! Incredible job please keepem coming. This is just unreal.
That was great
Unreal!! Amazing!
Grace is Grace .
This chick is good
No one else is Grace...like listening to Heart trying to do Zepplin....
Banjo with a little grit...perfectly captures the eastern vibe. Who knew?
This wonderful and have been to Redrocks , I mean no disrespect, but remember who was in Jefferson Airplane , you stand on the shoulders of giants
Awesome guys I requested this for my cremation what a way to go 🎶🎶👍🇬🇧
I listen to your music many times a day, and some of my favorite songs have been removed from TH-cam Music. I'd love it very much if I could listen to them again.
To be able to reinvent a classical rock hit so dramatically is just a total amazing art form. It just literally throws new paint on an old canvas so you can enjoy it agian in a totally different way. Great video. Luckily the algorithm brought me to this groups videos.
First time to hear this version, very good, wish it would have been longer
Saw these guys live in Colorado along with Mandolin Orange and the oh hellos! Quite the concert...🐇
I just saw her with Teirro band in Carbondale, Colorado for Mountain fair. So good!
only just discovered these guys. First Schism by Tool, and now this- absolutely incredible covers, of songs too good to dare attempt to cover!
Half replying to myself from two months ago - what a fantastic discovery that was. I went down my own rabbit hole the very next night.
Superb! I saw the Alice thing at V&A in London and song was on repeat all the way.... a classic and this is a great version.
That iberic, andalusian spanish music feeling is just marvelous
This comment gives me a headache just stop it
That was AWESOME!
This is so brilliant, the best cover ever performed by any artist.
What can I say, I wish I could like this more than once! So, I'll listen on repeat for a bit instead. Hate that I discovered this band after it already broke up, but still loving the road of discovery. So glad you put this beautiful music out into the world!
An angelic singer -
This woman’s voice is intoxicating.
This song is a brave choice for any singer. She nails it.
I will pay you the highest compliment I can for anyone attempting to cover the incomparable masterpiece. You don't suck.
