Backpacking the Bitterroot Mountains : Grave Peak Loop / Colt Lake & Wind Lakes

- This was a leisure 3 day 2 night off trail (mostly) backpack around Grave Peak on the far west end of the Bitterroot Mountains. Colt Lake & Wind Lakes were amazing, saw 0 people once we left the trailhead on Day 1 all the way until we got back onto Hwy12.
Gotta love all those lakes in the Bitterroots. Beautifully captured!

Awesome! Love Wind Lakes, it was one of my favorite backpacking trips I've done. It was cool to see the loop you hiked. I was wondering if that was doable. The veiws were great! That another camp spot you found at Wind Lakes was where we camp, and at twilight, a wolf walked around the lake and howled at us for an hour. Was amazing! I enjoyed the Tom Beal Park Trail it was great for our dogs with the multiple Creek crossings. Great Video! Thanks for sharing. Hike on!
If you want to see miles & miles of thick larch forests, you need to visit NE Washington, especially Hwy 20 between Tiger & Colville. Good fishing up there, too. Gorgeous!

How was the road getting there? It’s crazy we haven’t ran into each other yet as it seems like you always put out a vid in the general area I was just in! Would love some insight on when you think peak Larch season would be under El Capitan this year? I’m thinking October 5th?
Road wasn't too bad just a very long up. Oct5 could be right, seems like around 9k feet in the Bitterroot the larches are near peak, at least on Carlton ridge area
