Fantastic hike! My first backpacking trip was on part of this trail 52 years ago. Got me into backpacking. Life / career took priority so I didn't go back again until 2 years ago. I may go back again this summer - depends upon results of other permit lotteries. No matter, I will be back in the next few years.
Love the music intro! Leave it to you to find a private campsite at Island Lake, the most crowded place that I have ever camped! Just love this area! It might be a record if you didn't run into anyone on the way back to Elkhart Park. When we went in a few years ago, I think that we must've passed over 100 people on trail
This brings back a lot of great memories and takes me back to a time when my knees didn’t hurt so much😉. We camped very near the waterfall at 27:00 and used the spray to cool off. Decided to follow it up to its source at Stroud glacier after dinner. Unworldly.
Man, I was there at same time. I was at Island Lake on Monday night and went through Titcomb and over Knapsack on Tuesday and camped on the east side of Peak Lake Tuesday night. Probably walked right past you Wednesday morning heading towards Shannon Pass. Would've loved to have met you. Love your videos!
That's an amazing loop! Titbomb Basin from Island Lake is one the most beautiful views I have ever had but overrun with people. Agree on thunderstorms at high elevation, the lightening feels so close.
Honestly, up high, nothing is hard to follow even without a trail in the Wind River Range, it's not inundated with brush like the Bitterroot or Cascades lol. Very forgiving place for off trail travel as long as you aren't opposed to boulder hopping.
Wind River are a walk. The South end is more user friendly. Has the lakes. Road out the south end. If you drive over to the west side the dirt road goes along the range up to Pindale. From Teton/Jackson around through Dubois Lander Hoback....it is 460 miles or so. From Jackson around Yellowstone is 330 miles. Death Valley for comparison is 900 miles including middle run. BEARTOOTH. You walk off the road 25 yards you're in the wild. Bam. Way easier. But Wind Rivers are the real deal for multi day wilderness. I go up Po Po Agie. 18 miles into da middle. Used to.
Great series!!! Hikeart channel for WA. livehardlovehard for SOCAL. Teton Yellowstone Lander are it. LOVE WY. Sierra Nevada are more user friendly weather wise but July 15th to September GREATER YELLOWSTONE IS KING. PERIOD. Not the Park in heat, high country. Northeast.

Hopefully no one in the winds trashed your equipment again. Love your videos. I'm in MT too, so I especially love your videos in the root.
Wow! Nice

Always wanted to go over "Pole Creek Pass" as you call it. I just haven't done it yet!
I was at like half of these places on a NOLS course about two years ago. Pretty crazy this popped up in my feed.
Great video and filming. Enjoyed your vacation! Stay safe!!

Depending on how early you were up you probably walked by while I was still snoozing haha

Thank you for sharing this video. I live about 2 hours from The Winds and I get there whenever possible. Just beautiful.
Very beautiful nice work enjoy your videos so much ❤️🇺🇲🎃👻🍿🌍🦬🦌🐐🐏🦟🦟😅😂😊
NOTE THE DATES. July 4th is to early. 15th to August 30th. September nights are freezing up high.
It looks like the trail over Shannon Paas and up to Knapsack is easy to follow.

Americans love rocks. Especially white rocks. The desolation is intriguing.
