  • In this video I'm unboxing a 42 cc Brush Cutter I got on amazon. I used it for a couple of months and I do like this. It's comes with a bunch of attachments and can take down 3 inch trees with no problems. I've used it mostly to take down small trees, but works well with grass, nettles, thistles, and tall weeds. Good deal for the price.

    Just got one a few days ago and I've already opened a few overgrown logging roads out back and did my ditch with it today. The balance is really good but if you're going to upgrade anything get a better harness.

    The blade on the bottom shield is to trim the line off when too long and it also protects the plastic from being damaged from the longer length of line

    • @NicholsCounty
      @NicholsCounty  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I figured that out a little too late. Plus the plastic shield on this isn't tight enough. It turned and the blade hit it. It's no longer on there. Thanks for watching!

    Appreciated your information. I just got mine. I can't figure how you open the string holder to replace cutting string when it runs out. I also don't see any air filter to clean like is mentioned. Is there one? Thanks for help.

    • @NicholsCounty
      @NicholsCounty  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The string holder has 2 clips on the side. You need a pry bar or a big screw driver to push one end in then do the other side. Definitely find a better quality string. As for the air filter, I haven't had to mess with it yet. Let me know if you figure it out.

    What oil gas mix do you run ? Just put mine together today. Working great but randomly stopping sometimes. Maybe I’m pulling on the wiring or something. Seems like the air filter had some oil on it already. Seems like my gas tank is leaking oil or fuel. Has oil on it.

    • @NicholsCounty
      @NicholsCounty  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      40:1 on the mixture. I have had some issues where the wires come loose when I'm cutting. But it doesn't shut off on me, just makes the blade keep turning. No issues with oil or gas leaking on my end.

      @@NicholsCounty hey there ! Well I went back and did some more work after getting some more oil and gas. My Manuel says 25-1. That’s what Iv been mixing with the mix bottle that came with it so far. After the second run it ran better. Maybe because I got 91 octane and new bottle of oil But Iv been running 25-1 I believe. Iv got the coocheer from Amazon 45 Cc and man it’s just what I needed and working great so far. Now I’m ready to dial it in more and check all bolts etc and worry about maintenance. It says to grease the shaft every 25hrs. I’ll get there quick I’m a little rusty on 2 strokes but I believe I was running 50-1 in my old outboard and now that I think about it everyone usually says add a little more oil. I did but was still around 25-1 I believe.

    Thanks for the review - I just got mine today and haven't tried it yet. I did assemble it - no problem. I have used brush cutters before. I recommend wearing hearing protection - the one that came with the unit seems pretty good.The tri-blade seems like it is a bit flimsy but I am sure it will work for a while. I have ordered another tri-blade since that will probably be the preferred blade for our use - lot of heavy grasses.I am not sure about getting replacement parts down the road, like an air filter foam. I know in past with a lot of use the head at the end of the shaft takes a beating so I would like to know how to get a new one if needed. Again - thanks for taking the time to record this.

    • @NicholsCounty
      @NicholsCounty  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Awesome, I am glad this was useful to you. The tri-blade is not that bad on grass and brush, just don't get it any where near metal posts, ha. The only problem I had with this cutter after using it for many hours is the 3 screws on the head, one would come loose. Eventually all 3 became loose and it was a pain to get nut off to replace a blade(had to use a vise). I recommend getting some Loctite and putting on those 3 screws. Other than that this thing is a beast.

    Sorry to bother you. I got my brush cutter today and did the full assembly. Now I did not yet put gas in.
    Question. I notice that the blade turns freely just by hand and also if I pull the start cord the blade does not move one bit. Is that normal and only moves once the engine runs? I bought premium gas in advance and now I see in the manual only to use regular gas. So I assume one must use regular gas.

    • @NicholsCounty
      @NicholsCounty  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Regular gas, I don't think premium will hurt it though. Not sure on that. If the blade spins freely when its off and doesn't spin when it is on then you just have to loosen the nut and make sure its aligned correctly. Just be on there tight as well.

    • @erwinerwin1245
      @erwinerwin1245 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NicholsCounty After I sent you my question I should have known that the blade only spins once the transmission kicks in and it does that only after a certain RPM.
      I forgot about that as my Stihl would spin just by pulling the cord and now think it should have not done that. I have not had a chance to start it yet but do find that the pull rope has a lot of resistance.
