Hey! I appreciate this link demonstrating the forester blade! I now know what to expect when using it and I will take your advice, to just use it to tackle the limbs and small branches and not on the ground. I will purchase that carbide blade. It’s worth having a blade that will last longer for the work I have to do. Thanks a bunch for this! I did subscribe and am looking forward to more of your expertise. 👍🏾
I bet if you put the brush guard back on, you could use it like a dog stop, and wedge it into the wood, so you can keep better control of the saw, when it's in the wood.
Have the same trimmer and really am interested in getting one of these blades. I like the idea of a carbide blade. Thanks for posting, always enjoy your videos.
I definitely recommend the Renegade. I got the 2 pack (red and green) for Christmas! Here's our Amazon affiliate link for that: amzn.to/3HVbLD6 Thanks for watching!
Was looking for Brush blade - will try Renegade (after ordering I see where they make 6 different blade types). I will leave chainsaw work to my chainsaw (faster & safer).
I’ve used both blades quite a lot. Started with the garbage stihl blades (dulled in 2-3 minutes) then moved to the forrester blades they dull in 20-30 minutes of heavy cutting to the carbide forrester blades. Those will cut ok for an hour at best. The forrester reg blades took me 20 minutes to sharpen and I know how to sharpen chainsaw blades. The carbide forresters took an hour+ to resharpen. Then I found renegades. That’s all I use now and I usually buy them in 3 packs. I ca normally get a season out of one blade unless I hit metal that destroys several of the teeth. I started with an fs110 but for brush cutting I’ve switched to an fs240. The forresters are heavier which holds momentum but they offset that by the huge kerf compared to the renegades. There’s honestly no comparison where the forresters come out on top.
Good review, and thank you for helping to sort a lot of these problems out. I am beginning to get the picture, esp. from this video, that the "chain saw" type blade is great for wood, but not so much for brush. Well, brush has a lot of woody stuff in it, and woody brush is my problem. So what would be the recommendation for "best WOODY BRUSH blade?". All comments welcome.
It seems very effective at cutting down those low-hanging limbs, but I'd be pretty nervous about a fast-spinning open blade above my head that has no way to stop quickly. While it seems convenient, and not to be a wimp, I think I will stick to something more specifically designed for this purpose, like a pole saw.
Stihl should have the arbor size specs online for your machine, but for the most part, the arbor size is universal, but I did need a special washer from Stihl to hold on the blade.
I think the Forester is too much blade for a battery trimmer....the Renegade hybrid is probably a better match for electric. Maybe a smaller diameter one! Here's another video: th-cam.com/video/rYqVkYaOn0U/w-d-xo.html

Always educational, learn something all the time. Love the content and video! Piney Grove is my home away from home! Love it!
That's so kind. We had been wanting to try this blade out for a long time! Thanks for watching.
@@PineyGroveHomestead sir it is a fact that you and your channel are a wealth of knowledge that I thoroughly enjoy!

Glad it was helpful!

The brush guard gets tangled in everything.

Now there is a new tool I will get. Thanks.
I wouldn't be without one! You can get so much done with them.

You’re on the right track!

I love Renegades. Video on them here: th-cam.com/video/rYqVkYaOn0U/w-d-xo.html

To me, this is the best blade made for a string trimmer: Amazon Affiliate Link: Renegade Razor Hybrid Brush Cutting Blade: amzn.to/3yaJtk9
That was really impressive!
Thanks! These blades really help with property management!
i think it would do better on a bigger unit that can maintain a higher rpm to do a better job but it works!
Agree! It's a big large for this trimmer.
@@PineyGroveHomestead in this case smaller is better!

It's not for everybody, but I love how much I can get done quickly with it.
Can this brush cutter blade fit on any model of Stihl weed trimmers?
Stihl should have the arbor size specs online for your machine, but for the most part, the arbor size is universal, but I did need a special washer from Stihl to hold on the blade.
Thank you Brad. Renegade seems better overall. Is there an application where you prefer forrester?
I think for cutting tree limbs the Forester is a good choice, but the Renegade is more versatile and won't require re-sharpening!
@@PineyGroveHomestead Thank you Brad
Thanks man..Good Job!
Here's another one: th-cam.com/video/rYqVkYaOn0U/w-d-xo.html
What about saw grass or cat tails .Any info that tight stuff
Here's another video I did on similar blades: th-cam.com/video/rYqVkYaOn0U/w-d-xo.html I think they would work great on cattails.
can we put this on Dewalt trimmers. I want a battery trimmer with the same blade. Please guide
I think the Forester is too much blade for a battery trimmer....the Renegade hybrid is probably a better match for electric. Maybe a smaller diameter one! Here's another video: th-cam.com/video/rYqVkYaOn0U/w-d-xo.html
Those trees kind of resemble Texas live oak trees. I’m going to do this on a bunch of prickly Ash bushes…
Our first brush cutter video: th-cam.com/video/rYqVkYaOn0U/w-d-xo.html
You could jet wash the blades & lube if needs I guess.
What about weeds on the ground closer to the ground?
I would use a string trimmer for weeds. If it's too thick for that, then the carbide tipped Renegade would be best.
So basically you like the one you’ve used for a couple years better ?
yes!
I have a Stihl and wow does it suck, I eventually just started using my chainsaw
We've had a lot of luck with Stihl but their older stuff is better than there new stuff IMO! Thanks for watching.
Should have went with echo. Echo=Japan. Stihl=China. Enough said
You never let the engine rev up at all. No wonder it got stuck
Another video on the subject: th-cam.com/video/rYqVkYaOn0U/w-d-xo.html
who need a pole saw electric or gasoline get a brush cutting blades for string trimmer
Agree
Lethal weapon
Taking that many limbs of in summer will kill the entire tree
I guess it's possible, but it didn't. Trees are healthy and green this spring......we cut some more last weekend.
