Looks pretty. But how is that a dune buggy? No ground clearance? No off road/sand tyres? No uprated suspension? And so on. Just incline and roll gauges. So much more could be done for these cars. I think the reason these new beetles were not so popular is because custom and upgrade parts just aren't available. Missed opportunity there Mr Vdub ☹. Hopefully some creative types may fill market gap for proper baja parts for these vehicles.
The problem apparently is wind roar to the right of a driver's head in a right-hand drive car- at least it's the right-hand countries that have complained of it from the start, and this has proven incurable, perhaps because of the domed roof? (The Dune refers to the colour. Who the hell still drives a dune-buggy?). This is nothing like an air-cooled VW with a boxer motor; but it has no problems as a city car, the huge boot suggests it's also for holidays where the wind-noise becomes a real pain. Surprising they couldn't solve it with vents though.
I totally agree. I have 2 vintage bugs and I been researching how to get mine switched over to an EV platform. There’s a place in California that does it for vintage Volkswagen beetles, buses and Porsche, starting price 68k and that,s supplying your own car.😳

That was the beauty of original Beetle. I think they changed engine to front for safety reasons
