If you are fortunate enough to own one then you realize what the review is all about. It brings a smile on the owners face as well as all that come into contact as you drive. I have had more compliments on this car than any previous cars I have owned. The fact this is the final edition makes it even more special. Feel very fortunate I was able to purchase and extend the mystique. 🚖
My wife always enjoyed riding in my 2015 VW Eos. When this very final edition car was on the showroom floor, she traded in the Tiguan to get her own convertible...very happy wife...
We bought one! My wife had always wanted one and I had a `73 model as my first car and was reluctant at first. But her persistence prevailed and we ended up with one. I heard that they were built on the Audi's TT chassis, engine and drive train and the 2.0 Turbo is extremely peppy for what the car is. Also, the ride and handling is very impressive and it get's plenty of nods in the parking lots. We love ours and is a really fun car to drive.
2019 VW Beetle Final Edition is an amazing car. My wife bought her hard top new in 2019 & still owns it in 2022 (30k miles later). No plans to ever sell. That turbo charger is loads of fun. We have made lots of people smile while at the same time making many other drivers mad that a beetle flew past & cut them off like a BMW. The Sport mode + the secret Super Turbo button under the accelerator pedal make these beetles fly. (If you step on the gas pedal hard enough there is another button (we jokingly call "NOS") that engages, sending more HP to the wheels, literally launching the vehicle). We love the beetle (aka the perfect grocery getter, mustang intimidator, & sucker punch activator). Oh yea, Great video review! Thanks for sharing.
I purchased two a 2018 Coupe as soon as I learned they were planning to discontinue in August 2018. Then a 2019 Beetle Convertible on July 4 during the final production month. These Beetles hit the nail right on the head in its styling. Sporty driving 7.2 seconds, awesome my 2019 Tiguan SE 4 Motion is 8.9. Seconds. Gave the Beetle Coupe to my daughter , keeping the Convertible for myself. The Tiguan is for me and my wife. And thank you for reviewing the beetle, I think you have the latest review I will always remember this
Love your reviews. Thank you for being genuine ... thorough ... objective ... knowledgeable ... easy to listen to .... sincere. Peace to you and your paths.
Way back in high school a friend had an old Beetle and I remember freezing our butts off in it in the winter and the windows fogging up. I learned to drive a stick in one that belonged to my brothers girlfriend at the time. Very easy to drive. Another friend of my brothers had a Karman Ghia that I got to drive. R.I.P. Beetle. Thanks for jogging my memory Joe! 👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸
Liked the review, glad you recognized the part the Beetle played in car and social culture. It is easy to be critical of the past and present Beetles, glad you didn't do that. I had a 66 and it had more than it's share of faults, but it was still a fun car. I also had a Beetle based Dune Buggy which was even more fun. I went and looked at a new Beetle a couple years back and the VW sales person tried to put me in a Jetta saying it's a better car. I wasn't looking for a better car, if I was I would have been on the Toyota lot. I was looking for a car that had personality, and individuality. What the salesman did was talk me out of the Beetle and since I wasn't looking for a Jetta I left.
Only thing I don't like about mine (2017 Convertible Tan & White SE Turbo) is the blind spot when the top is up. Other than that, I absolutely LOVE my baby boy. His name is SunnyBoy.
I wanted this car. It’s my dream car. I was thinking it to be my first ever car. When i learned that it will discontinue and never sell again, i cried. Because this is my fave car. Saving up for years for me to hear this. I guess i’ll have a crappy car then 😕😕
You can always find used ones. I’ve seen some excellent ones with only a couple thousand miles on them. Hope you can get one!! It’s my dream car as well :)
Good review as always. I am very saddened that this is the end of an iconic, "FUN" (not practical) vehicle. Yes, I totally agree that VW should have added a few more perks, a better finish, made the onfo screen a bit larger, updated the drivers' gauges & yes added a little more pep especially for the price they want for this Final (??) edition, but I totally do love the overall design of the vehicle. My first vehicle ever was while I was in high school was a used 73 Super Beetle w/ the curved windshield (already 15 years of age) and the best part was learning to drive on a stick shift. It wasn't a beater by any means (and everything worked) as it was well looked after by a family member., and I continued to look after it well. Yes, I admit I was a bit heavy footed on the gas (actually was pulled over by the police one evening for speeding a bit and his words were "I didn't think these vehicles could go that fast" (LOL), did some awesome do-nuts when there was lots of snow on the ground, took it went I went skiing, camping & would take out the back bench seat to sit on when we would go to the beach @ night & had fires on the beach with a couple of cocktails. (and "NO" I didn't turn into a beater), but boy we sure had some fun. I've always looked after my vehicles right from the start as my Dad looked after his vehicles very meticulously & those traits were embedded in my head even as a teenager. I wish I could afford two cars as I always wanted to get another one for the fun of driving one. Better yet, I wish I still had my 73 Super Beetle.
This is my favorite video of yours, this is about my tenth time watching it so far. I've been begging my mom to get one of these after our grand Cherokee breaks down!
I have a beetle convertible R line. 210 hp. 3 extra gauges on dash. 2 l engine, easy to work on. Zippy car at about 6.5 seconds 0 to 60. And my dog loves the back seat!
Great review. I have a 2014 in Toffee Brown with a Beige/creme interior. His name is Bobby. Never selling him....he’s a part of our family......(sad that a 56 y.o man is talking like this....right). Since I was 16 I have had 10 Beetles in various guises.....from a red 63 to a 2001 bright blue Barbie Beetle (and a 2007) and a 2013 in silver. They are in the blood. BB
Thank you all the way From Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦 to USA 🇺🇸 I used to have one 2003... it's so fun to drive 🚗.. but the Maintenance over here was to expensive... Although... I'm thinking to buy one... hope soon😁👌🏻 Thank you again..that Review was so Emotional....👍🏻🥇
My 2008 was totaled in Oct, I was heartbroken. I found a 2013 TDI with 36 thousand miles on it, I love it! The Fender stereo system is awesome and it's great to drive. I'm sorry 2019 is the last year of production...☹
Hold on to that one. The 12+ beetle is probably the best overall built product VW has made. The 2.0 TDI is a bulletproof engine. Just stay on top of the timing belt service.
I found a 2007 bottle in very good condition with 5700p mi on it and is a convertible. They want 8700 for it. What's your thought oon buying a t for 5 mo in AZ EVERY YYEAR
My oh my what an absolute shame that this Beetle is going away after so many years. U know what Joe I would absolutely absolutely love to see a 2019 Dodge Challenger R/T OMG the history behind that iconic roadrunner 🤝🤝♥️♥️😀😀. Thanks Joe.
Back in the 70s there was a VW farm were I'm from. They only sold VW's. They had over a hundred for sale each and everyday. Back then you didn't think much about it. But they were so dependable and got such great gas mileage. They had 3 speeds, automatics and were cheap in price. The automatics sold like hot cakes. If you needed some sort of transportation. The farm was practically wiped out by a flood. I think they finally closed in 1985 at the latest.
You speak of a more sporty Beetle. My daily driver is a 2014 R-Line Turbo Convertible. 210 HP, and Dual Clutch Trans. w Paddle shifters. I'm never gonna give it up, unless there is a more powerful next gen. The R-Line is a blast!
I think the lower mpg is what really zonked the new beetle for me. The old beetle was famous for its high mpg. Something like 50mpg. They coulda done a lot better with mileage. I guess in a few years they will have an electric version. That will be interesting
I just drove to Sarasota VW to purchase one! Didn’t know you had one in Tampa! I live in St. Pete....just need to know how to play the CD - from Media? Can’t get it to play..... love your video! We bought white Final edition!
Why did they detune the 2.0L turbo for later years? The earlier years (or maybe different trim levels) ran the same engine with about 200 hp/tq and used a 1.8L turbo for the same output as this 2.0L. Please correct me if I'm mistaken
I own a 2014 with 33,500 miles, convertible, tornado red. My husband wants me to get a Mercedes, says that I’m not safe in the beetle. So far, I’m resisting….😎
I bought a 68 VW Beatle when I returned from Vietnam. I wish they would bring back the old style bug with the rear engine, I’d be the first in line to buy one!
I saw one of these in person and I was like 😳😳 dayum it was so different from the bug like shape of the previous generation. I just bout a car but had I seen this at my dealership I’m pretty sure I would’ve gotten it
I have to say, Joe, that without a cover the top looks messy. Still love it though. Even at 6'5" I can still fit inside it very easily. Great review again.
My 2003 VW BEETLE TDI has almost a half a million miles oh yeah and mine has a proper nitro cylinder prop for the hood too they cheapened up the made for U.S. versions after the mk4
I had a '72 yellow bug through high school, college and a couple years into marriage. Loved it!! Then one day I came home from work and my husband informed me he sold my "BUG"!! WHAT?? It wasnt even for sale! I wasnt very happy. We have been married now for 48 yrs. And every so often I would remind him about selling my bug out from under me. We’ll Get it out in the open-This Final Edition 2019 VW Beetle is more than a classic car-More than a mid-century masterpiece-This 2019 Beetle is a national treasure-This is Americana!
Curious to know mileage to the gallon, any issue after 100,000 miles, can your local mechanic fix this thing or do you have to bring it to the dealership which will cost you an arm and a leg to fix (I learned this the hard way with my previous BMW)!
It has character, classic style and it’s fun to drive. The new chassis and front engine were overdue. Yes make it an electric hybrid. Be happy it doesn’t look like every other care in its class.
I love that you finally mentioned how your viewers love how you make the food/snack references to measure stuff haha soooo funny. Don’t ever stop doing it!
It's a nice looking car that I never would have thought about buying until watching this video! It's probably good that VW didn't put "Final Edition" on the car or they would be charging $5,000 more for it! 😎👍
Years ago, I owned five beetles. Loved them all. This one rocks! VW kept it’s style! Love it.
Shoot give me one plz 😭😭😭
End of an era. A bit sad 😔
For sure
VERY sad 😭
And soon, (way too soon) it will also be the end of fake exhaust zonks, and engine/exahaust sound portion of reviews.

1949 is when they first came to US. they started production in 1937 in Germany.
Good info. I was wondering about that.
It was actually Hitler's brain child! He loved the design, because it was his!
Actually it was 1938 that the VW went into very limited production. Not 1937.
The last of the original style beetle was produced in Mexico in 2003

Does it have automatic emergency breaking and collision alarms ?
You were so right man it’s a sweet ride! But sad that it’s the final beetle 😣
Saving up to put a downpayment on one. Always wanted one and was so sad to learn they have been discontinued.
Are the seats real leather or leatherette?
Leatherette
@@RaitisRides I like real leather. That’s too bad.
This car is a legend rip beetle 😢
It's a nice looking car that I never would have thought about buying until watching this video! It's probably good that VW didn't put "Final Edition" on the car or they would be charging $5,000 more for it! 😎👍
