I used to work for VW and I was told they used to deliberately make the lubricant smell like that and that's why old VW's all smell the same.
I had a 2001.5 turbo in Silver Arrow. I wanted the RSI so badly! I still do. Super rare! An awesome collector car for sure.

I had no idea VW ever made a car this cool, let alone it being a new beetle. It's incredible!

They started doing 4wd way earlier in the 80ies, called SYNCRO, developed by them and Steyr-Puch.

Well, that would depends on the displacement of the V6 … if you got 220 HP out of a Naturally Aspirated 2 liter V6, that would be pretty good .. if you got the same out of a 6 liter engine .. then you might have some issues .. or a lot of torque.
Case in point, the original Dodge Viper only got 406 HP out of an 8 liter V10 … that's less than 50 HP per liter.
There are mopeds that can beat that !
But it had torque, and light weight chassis.
And so, it was fun, and sounded great too.

Audi put v6 on some of the vr6 engine covers. Plus he said vr6 as well in the video before he said v6. Calling it a v6 is an acceptable slip. Vr6 stands for "v-inline 6"

I think the 24 valve VR6 in this car makes more than 220 hp more like 250 .

This is the first version of the 3.2 VW produced and it only has 221bhp. The later version in the mkiv golf produced 240bhp and the mkv 250bhp.

you're kinda right ,but I would much rather have the beetle . It was a development exercise for the brand. They brought Porsche into it to make tweaks the suspension . They made custom parts for ONLY for 251 cars , very expensive parts. Sure the tt is lighter with more power but the beetle is actually special. Also the tt was years later and just a limited trim with some gimmicks.

I got a 2005 black Beetle V5 "California" and I put KW coilovers and Brembo brakes on it. It has Huge but tasteful 3SDM alloy wheels and although the car is not the best on the road it has character and I love it

When this car came out, that was respectable. We're spoiled now where direct injected NA V6s make 350hp and can be picked up in used cars for $15,000 - $20,000. Still a cool car, though. I've only ever seen them in video games. Never in the wild.
