For people in Photoshop, do this: 1. Open the image you want to edit; 2. Go to menu item Layer > Layer Mask > From Transparency; 3. Duplicate the layer (CTRL + J); 4. Hide the original one and delete the mask form the copy; 5. Make all edits you want; 6. Select all layer (except for the original with mask) and merge (CTRL + E); 7. Now click and drag the mask from the original to the merged layer and delete the original layer; And that's it :) *You can right click the mask and "Apply Layer Mask" to avoid problems with transparency

@@poptuts I was trying to custom textures on SVR 2006 but here's the thing because when I put dump textures when I went to create a superstar it doesn't shown on created Superstar and then when I entered the game played there's another texture is the same thing like other texture but the texture is actually bit stretch so I customised two of them do you know how weird it is main menu doesn't show did you customise the texture but if you're in the game play it does I was so confused like what trust me I wish if I can show you if you have a discord because you will be confused as I am 😅
If only there way a way to rip ALL of the games without having to play through the entire game, and render every corner of every room in order to get everything.
@@ulfrinn8783 You would have to preload all the textures for that, i dont think there is a "texture" folder for these games, they are usually all bundled together in a big file that the ps2 has to take from.
On actual PCSX2 version there is not a folder to select this. Is fine to insert texture pack into "texture" that the emulator creates into "documents"?
In Photoshop I do it like this: 1 - Ctrl + A to select the entire layer. 2 - Ctrl + C to copy the entire layer. 3 - Ctrl + V seven times to create 7 new layers, totaling 8. With this, the file will look like the original. Then just put everything together in one layer. Notes: - It is possible that you will find the result satisfactory with more or less layers. - With 7 layers I still see transparency. - With 9 or more layers I didn't see a difference. And if there is transparency in the original file, then most likely it will be lost. Sorry for my english, I speak portuguese
An earlier comment showed that if you go to the channels tab in GIMP, you can turn off the alpha layer which gets rid of the transparency. Not sure if photoshop has something similar

@@pepesito17 No, It is the emulator replacing the texures, it is not doing anything to the ISO. You would need to modify the actual files of the ISO to do permanent changes.
Not sure, different games handel textures differently. Some games break from texture replacement, whether its the emulation or the game itself im not sure.
That would be cool, but from what i’ve seen games handle sound files very differently to each other. Most of them have music encoded in the same way as dialogue.

This worked for me but then randomly after creating a few more character textures when going to render textures it just stopped working. I tried this tutorial for Dbz BT4, for some textures it's perfect, but for others, it deactivates automatically and systematically after a fight or two... There is no way to make them responsive I have to every time restarting my PC or my console when I emulate on Xbox... (The problem persists on PC and Xbox)
did you download the latest PCSX2 Nightly build. It must be nightly. Only 1.7+ has textures. Once you do you just click on save textures. if you have already tried that the game you are trying may not support it either. Ive seen many games not support texture replacement sadly

I believe in that game, the texture changes based on the damage you take. So you would have to find every single texture for that character and add the tattoo on it.

I tried with an upscale program but it kept renaming the textures with _output2x at the end. I was using topaz upscale. Some problems with this tho, stuff like hair textures can be bad because the hair starts to look like blocks when you upscale, at least for prince of Persia.

textures on psp might not have the same name as on the PS2, i know that many psp ports had to remove and change texture to be able to run. So you might have to find the texture manually

Some games Handel textures differently. It may be the case that the game you are trying to change has textures built into the models and cant be changed with simple texture swap.
I'm having trouble modding textures for Mortal Kombat Armageddon. The textures are mostly transparent, but when I get rid of it with Threshold Alpha, the character appears very shiny and glossy in game. Strangely, if I open the transparent image, change nothing, and then save that unchanged texture. The character is almost completely black in game. I don't get it?
1. A better way has been discovered of turning off the transparency, and that is to go to the "channels" section which is next to "layers" and turning off Alpha, editing the image and then turning Alpha back on. 2. make sure you are saving the files in their original format which i think is DDS for most games. 3. Ok after some testing with tekken, it seems tekken 4 handels textures very strangely, whereas tekken 5 works perfectly. Ive tried changing the settings but tekken 4 doesnt want to fix itself. Im sorry but i dont have the answer to this one im afraid.

Have you tried doing this with ps1 games running on pcsxe2? It would help so much for ripping textures from ps1 games, my focus.

I dont think so, preloading the entire games textures would be quite the task for an emulator im guessing.
@@poptuts not preloading, just extracting them, that way they can be AI upscaled prior to actually playing the game

You can yes but PCSX2 has its own upscaler which is already pretty good. You just increase the resolution scale to 3x native for 1080p

Not sure what you mean. You place any altered textures in the replacements folder. It get’s automatically created when you dump textures.
