I can't remember, but I was 17 or 18 years old when this music came out. Those were dark and foreboding times in the United States. The Vietnam war was raging hot, and I knew that I would wind up in the Army before too long. I believe that I was in my final year of high school, and already, boys who had graduated a year or two before me were coming home from Southeast Asia inside of aluminum boxes. The way I remember it, I avoided dealing with those sobering issues by keeping myself inebriated with beer and marijuana. I was trying to have a good time, and trying to become an adult, and did not have much success with either of those attempts. In February of 1968, off I went to Army basic training, then for advanced training, and then to korea, and then to vietnam. Unlike 20 other boys from the city that I grew up in, I came home alive. Then, after wasting a few more years, I began to take life seriously in terms of building a career and trying to find someone to love me who would let me love her. I made a decent career as a mechanical technician. I had one marriage that lasted 7 years with no children. Then after 20 years being single, I was lucky enough that a wonderful Chinese lady from Malaysia wanted me. She and I have been married for 16 years now. I am a very lucky man. But getting back to this music. I think that rock and roll is no longer being created. When I compare it to the music that is created by Young artists today, I think that much of the rock and roll of my youth was far superior to today's youth music, especially rap.
For Rock n Roll you have to get together with your band and actually make music. ... Rap still takes some skill and Their are many famous Rappers but they don't have to work as hard to make music. They pick a beat and write lyrics. But Rock and Roll takes much more to make a song.
Much of the other contemporary youth music that I've heard really can't compete with 60s rock and roll. 60s rock and roll used to have segways after which the rhythm would change, and the tones and melodies offered variety and surprise in a way that today's songs, with their repetitive tones and melodies verse after verse do not. I'm glad that I grew up in those times. These days, so much of contemporary culture strikes me as banal, shallow, and without an acceptable level of integrity.

The bass player came creeping over into John's area and John shoots him "a look" at the end of the song, like WTF man, don't ever do that again. LOL

From Wikipedia: "Premonition is the first live album released by John Fogerty as a solo artist. He performs many hits by his earlier band, Creedence Clearwater Revival, as well as songs composed during his period as a solo artist. It was recorded with a live audience at Warner Bros. Studios, Stage 15 on December 12 & 13th, 1997. The CD version omits 4 tracks that are available on the DVD. Premonition is available on CD and DVD."
