This excellent guide saved my Poly D. Just couldn’t be bothered with it and considering selling. Two hours of watching this tutorial and now I’m confident I understand all the controls and making my own sounds from scratch.
Yo! Thanks for this video! I am only 12 minutes in and I am very much looking forward to watching the rest of it. I was really confused about the keyboard control switches until now. Kudos 👏
To enter save mode for the current sequence, hold shift and play for 3 seconds. Then select your pattern slot with the left right arrow keys and hold the PATTERN button if you’d like to change the bank as well. Then hit shift + rec to write to memory. If you reset your saved pattern with shift reset, it’s not actually deleted. You’d need to resave a new pattern over it. Also, turning it on holding d major/ minor chord will enable/disable your envelope retrigger when more than one note is held at a time in a poly mode. This is the least intuitive bit of information from the whole video so I felt the need to reshare it here. You are welcome 1:24:46
This is awesome, got your repeat views strategy down too, I'll be watching this start to finish many many times, thank you, my hat is off, it has to be, by the sequencer bit, every time you said "It's really simple", my head exploded a little more 🤯, gonna have to watch it over and over on slow speed 🤣, that's some _landline handset_ level menu diving, I'll watch slow so I can write it all out. Just got a Poly D, added a Model D (on which the PolyD's sequencer works), using it as my midi keyboard, can't play a note already, and the Poly D must have got dropped or something, it's got oscillator/keyboard issues, so not exactly conducive to learning pursuits if the kbd isn't working correctly. I suspect it's mostly oscillators, since the keys work alright with the ModelD, seven DO sound amazing, but I have to wait til the end of the month for the new one, I definitely want a new one, it's within 45 days of purchase, don't want a floor model, and sure, it could probably be troubleshooted, by why? So since there's not a new one to be had, I'm keeping this one til a new one's available. So while it's "sort of" broken, might as well learn all the other stuff too, Thanks a lot for this, I'll be coming back to it often.....
Thank you so much, the sequencer chapter helped me a lot! Looking forward to watching the whole video to really get to know this beast of a synth I've acquired.
I've only watched 44 mins so far but this video is amazing! I understand so much more about this thing and how it all works together. Thank you so much!
Really glad to hear that. You know, donation really help, of course. But knowing someone, someplace was able to boost because of your work, is just a fantastic feeling. Thanks for the comment and the contribution. Sorry I didn't respond earlier, but after I released the vid, I got really sick, like 2 complete days sleeping sick, that bad. Thank you The poly mode with the notes all going through the same filters is something I have heard before but thanks for your explanation because I didn't realise the second note you would drag the first note through the filter again 🤔😅
Thank you thank you thank you. I’m not an idiot by my dyslexia makes it impossible for me to remember what just happened well enough to know how it works without help.
Thanks for this, I was totally new to the synth world and found your video to be the best. I bought you a coffee.👌
Thank you SO MUCH for the BEST video ever on the Poly D. I bought you a few cups of coffee! It really helped me understand how everything works, and was a great general introduction to analog synthesis as well. Keep up the good work! I also watched your video on the Korg Wavestate, although that is much more difficult to understand (but very powerful). I'm going to start working on the Deepmind 12, and will turn to you first for that. In addition, I plan to get into Cubase, and would love an explanatory introduction to that, if that might be in your wheelhouse... :) THANKS!

This is an amazing video but im still confused why oscillator 1,2 and 3 have LO, im sure they weren't mentioned, only 4 can be used as an lfo so why are they there?
Great information many, many thanks for taking the time to share. Question, my mod wheel when pushed to the top feels like it is grinding is that by design?
Very very good tutorial I have a question. Is there any sign wave in this synthesizer? I just bought it and I don’t know how can I make it? Thank you very much.
The presentation is put together very well, with logical progression and information. However any person who has hearing issue and many musicians do, the sounds make the mono, log almost impossible to understand. having the sound demonstration so loud serves no purpose, just being able to hear it is all that is needed, the monolog or spoken information is very important. I miss about all spoken information when the sounds are playing.
This is a gret deep dive, but would love to see a video of how to sync the sequencer / arp with a daw, clock sync iin playback s working but recording it breaks the arp into small chops, do you have any suggestion?
