The vast spaces around the cities were devoted to agriculture (corn mostly)to feed the population.

Me! I'd just happened to watch the video about it they have over at INAH (the mexican government's archaeology division, though their content is in spanish only) a few days ago, so I guess I cheated a bit. The tomb that's shown after that is (supposedly) Pakal's wife.
I've been there....I can't have enough of this culture!😊Tulum,El naranjo,Kalakmul, el caracol observatory,Tikal(Guatemala) and Copan(Honduras) when you see the sunset on top of one of the pyramids is just magical....Also Tajin pyramid and teotihuacan are awesome(not the same culture i know but worth a visit) or 2✌😊!

The Mayan people were influenced by extraterrestrial beings and promised they would be taken at a certain time. They were taken off world to another planet to live. The Spaniards destroyed so much of the Mayan culture in the name of religion. These fantastic Mayan ruins are a testament to the Mayan engineering.

According to the evidence from the book Collapse by Jerrid Diamond there would not have been any trees anywhere in sight. In the late classic period where this 3D reconstruction takes place the Classic Maya cut down all the trees within sight of their cities for firewood to fuel the limestone kilns for making stucco plaster. It has been said that one city could see the next one off on the horizon with little exaggeration. There was prolonged drought as a result of the trees gone. The ground water wells were used up, then crop failure, famine, revolt etc. Kings and princes of these cities were in selfish competition with each other who could construct the most elaborate architecture. If modern societies don't stop behaving this way we to will collapse.

Having been fortunate to visit all three magnificent complex's - pity these adept graphic artists did not want to focus on Pacal's sarcophagus lid in the Temple of Inscriptions in Palenque. It sort of cheats the majesty of what this spectacular carved craftsmanship represents. They hid this in the main museum in Mexico City too. The truth can not be hidden for much longer.
What do you mean with hide? The sarcophagus lid can be visited, didn't ? And which graphic artists do you mean?
Thank you so much for so much beauty! I can't imagine how much time and effort it required, but the outcome is just amazing. I felt I was transported through time to Palenque, Uxmal, Chichen Itza, etc. The music and the views of the nitht sky were a plus. Congratulations!
