    Out with the gout! Thanks for sharing this info Dr. Berg. I had the worst gout attack of my life 5/21/19. Diagnosed by a Dr. Prescribed allopuinol. Seemed to help. Made small changes to my diet and the big one for me was giving up alcohol and sugar. Was still eating a lot of carbs and potatoe chips. Had two more gout attacks, one in september and one in late november. Discovered the carb connection through research and soon after Discovered Dr. Berg's channel in February 2020. I started to slowly implement the keto diet over a month and liked the food options. I also started intermittant fasting in March. I have spent countless hours researching nutrition and my gout condition in an effort to get off the medication. One of my daily treatments is acv and freshly juiced lemon. I also juice celery and add that to the drink and wheatgrass juice powder with 7 different mushrooms. Good stuff. I lost a buch of weight. I weighed 187lbs. when i was diagnosed with gout, now i weigh about 150-155. I'm 5'9". I took myself off of the allopurinol in may 2020 and havent had a gout attack yet! I also fixed my slightly elevated blood pressure. I also feel great. Better than I have in years. Thanks again Dr. Berg. I credit you with helping me get a handle on my health. I used to have reoccurring pain in my old ankle injury. Now its almost nonexistant. I love my new keto life and body. Others have noticed a change as well. Its amazing how quickly the body responds and starts healing under the right conditions. This has been the best health experiment I have tried on myself and I encourage everyone and anyone to try a low carb diet. If anyone wants to know more, leave a comment and i will respond. I wish good health to you.

    Had this pain(probably the first gout attack) 5-6 years ago. I've switched to simple foods like bananas, oranges and celery salad based on intuition. And it went away in a week or so. In 2020 it seems like it came back but due to overthinking, stress and pain the intuition probably got silenced. Now I remembered vividly, watching this video. I mentioned it because I believe it's an interesting life experience which could help others understand better.

    Like Dr Berg states - It's *celery seeds* (and the extact of the seeds is the most potent, giving you the fastest relief for gout) , not the celery *stalks* . The stalks are HIGH in oxalates, which will cause calcium-oxalate crystals - throwing you from frying pan into the fire (it takes FAR LONGER to get rid off oxalate crystals than it does to get rid of uric crystals). Don't do celery *stalks* in bulk (I did that mistake, juiced them a lot). Do celery seed extract, it fixed my high-RNA diet (brewer's yeast, fish skin collagen) induced gout. Yes, that and *tart cherry extract* (without the high fructose content of tart cherry juice, because fructose metabolic by-product is also pyruvate, causing more gout probelms).

    • @doradean3097
      @doradean3097 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Was just about to go buy several bunches of celery to puree and drink. This is the first time I hear about RNA inducing gout. if you don't mind, can you shed more light on their connections? Thanks very much for cautioning.

  • @blomegoog
    @blomegoog 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Another good topic. I thought people already figured this out if they suffer chronic gout. Chew on celery sticks, dark red cherries, tumeric slices and drink only water, all day, and gone in 3 days, depending on how good your renal function is at the time. Of course, no animal products, nuts, seeds, so Keto is out during this time, and may be the cause of gout for many people to begin with. Meat is acidic. Thus the scientific name for protein, Amino ACID.

    I have had gout for 30 years, had been told to avoid celery, only had it occasionally. Until I got breast cancer and was forbidden getting ino the tub, I didn't have knobbly fingers. How? I do epsom salts therapy baths, which leach out the excess acid through the skin. If it can't collect and dry in the joints, it cannot destroy and deform them. I also craft to keep my fingers supple, have not needed pain killers for this, until I wasn't allowed to do the baths anymore. My fingers are better since I resumed therapy.

    Celery has a tremendous amount of oxalate, right? This is often linked to gout. Thoughts ?
    A low oxalate diet is what cured my excruciating joint pain - which came on suddenly after a high volume daily spinach and celery juicing diet.

      There are multiple ways to get gout, the same as there are multiple different types of kidney stones, from various crystallised acidic buildups. I've had minor gout episodes from both oxalates and uric acid. Recently had uric acid kidney stones BUT thankfully was able to dissolve and them by raising pH of urine - meaning thankfully did not have to pass any stones! Currently resolving the final tiny bit of uric acid gout remaining in one thumb. Lemon and apple cider vinegar for the win. My oxalate gout came from consuming a massive amount of spinach. Uric acid gout/kidney stones came from carnivore/keto diet and stupidly eating ice cream at the same time for weeks 🤦🏻‍♂️ fully self inflicted

      I suspect gout affects the joints while oxalate affects the muscle around the joints. Uric acid is an anti-oxidant that is protective, so lowering it may be as bad as lowering cholesterol. Eliminating plants from your diet will go a long way toward fixing gout, oxalate poisoning, and many other ailments.

    The best prevention for gout is low protein diet, as the more effluent the society, the consuption of protein increases, and so does gout...Interstingly, low calorie diets, even higher in protein, have a protective effect on many diseases, incuding gout....

    Isn't celery high in oxalate which is toxic systemically especially to the kidneys? I don't think I'll be experimenting on myself with oxalate.

    • @kookiebun470

      1 stalk of celery has only 3mg oxalate which is a very good choice of vegetable. Spinach on the other hand is very high in oxalate. 1/2 cup of cooked spinach has 755 mg of oxalate, 1 cup raw has 656 mg. Any veges with oxalate between 0-4 is very good.
