    It was a busy week, and big tech certainly delivered the tune Wall Street was hoping to hear. Growth is back, and with it, massive increases to profitability. Amazon and Meta were showing off in grand style, and Meta announced its first-ever dividend.
    Meanwhile, Qualcomm’s revenue recovery is still taking hold, but earnings are ratcheting higher anyways. The automotive segment in particular bucked the industry trend as automakers can’t seem to get enough of Qualcomm’s chips powering new vehicle technology trends.
    Chip Stock Investors Nick and Kasey discuss these three companies in todays episode, and why they remain optimistic on their growth prospects in 2024.

    Great earnings update!! Latest earnings show AI is not a bubble. The leaders are obvious NVDA, MSFT, META. Would love a video on some smaller, under the radar AI contenders like VRT (Vertive Holdings), INOD (Inodata), ESTC (Elastic) and PEGA (Pegasystems). I'm sure you are aware of others as well.

    Here's an idea that would likely get you a ton of cusomers. Provide a chip cycle report that has a matrix listing the different chip cycles, approx how long they last and your thoughts of where we are in that cycle(high demand or low demand., over supply- no demand). Also each cycle might require different chips. So for example the PC cycle requires cpus and ram. How much of each? Then as you cover different chip companies you state what chip cycles they serve. If they provide chips for multiple cycles , like qcom, then list how much of their production serves a given cycle. I would love that kind of report becuase there are so many chip companies making different kinds of chips that it gets confusing. Thanks for your informative videos.

    • @chipstockinvestor
      @chipstockinvestor  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey Mark, this is an intriguing thought! That said, historically, most chip types follow the same general cycle. The pandemic lockdowns messed everything up! So it would be hard to provide a guide to how things play out going forward.

    • @markflour
      @markflour 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It could be hard which is why folks would pay you for it. Many folks don't care what ram is they just want to know where it is in the demand cycle and which companies sells it. nobody else offers this kind of report. We don't expect perfection just your informed input. Plus with bard or chaptgpt to help it's problably be easier then you think... give it somethought@@chipstockinvestor

    Thanks for the video. I just sold 75% of my Amazon stock because I'm getting more concerned about them selling junk. I've read that regulators aren't happy about them selling unsafe carbon monoxide monitors. From a UK source (consumer organisation Which) they aren't alone in selling unsafe items, they also named eBay, AliExpress and Wish. I've heard of merchants getting returns which are just empty boxes, a problem because they can't prove the boxes were empty. That kind of thing discourages merchants who put a reasonable margin on quality products. I expect Amazon will try to find a solution but I don't know if there's a good one. I kept 25% of my holding because Amazon has a place in my basket of AI stocks. It wasn't an easy decision and I'll have got it wrong, one way or another. BTW I'm not too concerned about the WSJ finding items in garbage and selling it on Amazon, to me it seems like a stunt.

      The EU and UK are always unhappy with big tech. Every tech stock you own the EU and UK will say they’re doing something bad. Sometimes it’s true and sometimes it’s just an overreaction. There’s always someone talking about you when you’re doing well and even more when you’re doing horrible.

      The Wall Street Journal claims, based on "sources familiar with the matter", that the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission is working on an order that would class Amazon’s ecommerce business as a distributor of goods. If that happens, Amazon would be treated like traditional retailers, who are liable for the safety of the things they sell. It's a recent story I found, I've no expertise for basing a prediction on what other sources say the WSJ said, but for me it's a risk until I know otherwise.

      @chipstockinvestor  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey riffs, this is a concern, although it's nothing new. This has been a risk for years. Do bear in mind, though, that the vast majority of Amazon's profit comes from cloud, not e-comm.

    I think Amazon are developing a robotic workforce, that will increase their profit margins. I think they will eventually sell these robots to companies and governments.

    Nice earnings by Amazon and META. Crazy money machines. I hate METAs business. It's like investing in cigarettes given how much bad spreads from META's social media platforms. That's why I stick with TH-cam. There seems to be better vetting of material here than in the wild of Instagram and FB.

      We hear you, FB and IG are addictive, in part because it's so easy to post literally ANYTHING. But then again, we like that FB and IG make it so easy for small businesses all over the world to run targeted ad campaigns. Google/YT doesn't play so nice with its walled garden viewer data. Both are far from perfect!

    I feel like I’m taking crazy pills looking at Amazon’s earnings - FCF in all of 2023 when you take out SBC and some acquisitions was ~$6B on a $1.8T market cap. Shares up 3% y/y in Q4 so sales +11% per share. I don’t get it but carry on

    • @chipstockinvestor
      @chipstockinvestor  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You could also just leave FCF alone as is, and simply divide by shares outstanding and track the progress that way

    I bought into QCOM after your deep dive few wks ago right before earnings. So far so good. But apparently 60%+ of their revs come from China, and 90%+ comes from Asia. Are you concerned with this given geo-political risks?
