    This video explains how a bicycle wheel sprocket works and how simple pawl ratchet mechanism drives your bicycle.
    I am trying to make quality videos , please subscribe and support this channel to grow. Less than total 10k views in a month really discourages me to give 40+ hours hard work for each video. please support.

    That's a very clear way of showing how the freewheel of the rear wheel from the bicycle works.
    Nicely done.

    Sir i understand.almost every this but unable to understand why bycycle moves after stoping paddling in downhill

    • @workingsgotanimated
      @workingsgotanimated  ปีที่แล้ว

      watch the last part. gravity keeps pushing your bicycle downward and also already its in motion so bicycle has kinetic inertia, I will keep moving downhill. inner part of the sprocket continue rotating along with rear wheel. it will rotate faster than sprocket ratchet teeth part. so u will get the same relative action.

      @@PravinKumar-wn8ry When you peddal, you push against the inside of the wheel with those tabs, which stick out like gear's teeth.
      When the bike is moving but the chain is not, the inside wheel goes faster than the one you normally push it with, and instead of hitting the teeth, it slides over them, compresses the springs, and the tabs rotate down to slide past..
      Then they click back up, and this process repeats many times so that you can start peddalling at any time during the rotation, without noticeable free movement before it locks again.
      The tabs popping back up, after each tooth passes over it, is the clicking sound you hear, when you're not pedalling but are moving.

    • @ToninFightsEntropy
      @ToninFightsEntropy ปีที่แล้ว

      It also happens when you peddal backwards, and is why the bike will not move backwards when you do so, but you hear clicks instead.
      Unless you have a bike that doesn't have a freewheel, e.g. some kids' bikes, or a BMX.
