Splurged in a way on my last build. Bought the parts one after one and in the end I never added it up to the last Euro. But the rough estimate is quite a bit more than I would have spent had I just gone into a shop and bought one off the shelf. Then again I think I still got a good deal with the end result. Money no object: More italian style I think.
I already have my dream bike. It's a custom made travelling bike with a steel frame built by Robert Stolz in Zürich/Switzerland. I chose Steel because if the frame would brake somewhere in the Himalaya mountains any car mechanic or construction worker could repair/weld it. I bought it many years ago. Today Stolz' prices for the same bike are around 13'000 francs/euro. The only thing I would change is getting a Rohloff gear hub instead of a Shimano Deore XT.
I bought/built mine in the summer of 2021 when it was difficult to find a new bike of any kind. It has cost (so far) less than half of Alex’s bike. I’m way less than half the cyclist that Alex is, but I’d guess more than twice his age 😂. It’s a titanium Litespeed Cherohala all-road/endurance bike with a full Ultegra mechanical groupset, mostly FSA aluminum finishing kit, Reynolds carbon wheels with 32mm Gravel King smoothies, and Fulcrum aluminum wheels with 35mm Michelin Power Gravel tires.
I built my dream bike. I got a 2010 trek madone 6.9, custom painted it, installed dura ace 9100 groupset, yoeleo 60mm wheel on the front, 88mm on the rear, tubeless tanwall gp5000 tires, carbon handle bar, oil slick bar plugs, spacers, and stem cap. It weighs in at 6.8kgs, feels so nice to ride and no one out there has the same rig.
Sweet ride! I built mine last year with custom geometry/ paint job with custom wheels. It's nice to have something completely different and impossible to duplicate.

In 2012 I built my dream bike of sorts, a Kish Ti frameset, Enve 1.0 fork, SRAM Force mechanical groupset, Chris King headset/bb/hubs, DT Swiss RR365 wheels, Thompson seatpost/stem, Fizik Aliante saddle, Deda Zero100 bar. Cost US$6400. Still riding it. Nothing has gone wrong with it. Still love it! The only thing I've upgraded is the saddle.

First real race bike was my dream build. Bought a Benotto 3000 frame, then found all Super Record components from different bike shops around the area over about 6 months. Built it slowly in my bedroom. Matched myself to the Cinelli bar and stem, not too crit, but not to deep either, then finished it with a Selle San Marco Rolls saddle, later replaced with the Hinault Turbo. Also had Super Record Pedals until the first Look PP65's arrived. Game changer! Raced it on GP4 with vittoria tubs... I was still a 3rd cat and the roads were still rubbish! I still have that bike. It still goes out, in the summer, when the weather is good. its friction levers still work on its 6 speed, 13-21 block and the 42-53 chainrings are a little more painful these days but they are easy to turn and great for a long steady ride. I am so pleased I was able to build that bike, and also to still have it and still love it. 40 years this year. Worth every penny. Whatever your dream build is, do it.

Had my dream bike assembled by the bike shop. It’s a Pinerallo F14 frame with Shimano 105 R7000 2x11 mechanical, carbon rims, Continental GP5000 STR tubeless tires, and some of the most comfy bar tape I’ve ever used. Best. Bike. Ever!!!
I think you nailed it when you said all that matters is that you enjoy riding it and, every time you ride it, you just want to ride it more. I've just built a TT bike from a mix of eBay parts, Marketplace bargains and a few new bits and pieces and I adore it. On its first outing in anger, it beat one bike that had a single wheel worth more than my whole build. It's not perfect and it's not meant to be - it's mine, I built it and I love it. And it's a project so will technically never be finished. Good video - and we need to see more of that vintage team car too.....
Oh, man. As much as I'd like to build my own Dream Bike with an unlimited budget is only a dream BUT I have made a few dream bikes with a VERY limited budget and I loved them regardless. I also believe that if you like your bike it makes you want to ride it more, and more, and more! Quite a true statement. I've ridden them all and I loved them all
I put together my (more or less) ultimate dream build bike last year (Trek Ckeckpoint SL framesaet, GRX Di2 2X group set, Pro Discover carbon bars, Zipp carbon seat post, Selle Italia SLR Boost saddle, Garmin Rally XC pedals, Roval Terra C wheels with S works Pathfinder tires, - I have a road wheel set too with deeper Hunt wheels and 32mm Vittoria corsa pro tires) Ridden a little over 7000 Km on it and it has been BRILLIANT. Lived up to all my hopes and it feels SO good (helps I had a bike fit before getting all the parts and then building it to bike fit recommended set up). Cost a lot - but the Euro per smile ratio definitely worth it!
@gcntech I absolutely love it ! Bikepacked around Denmark 🇩🇰 last summer on it. Have ridden road rides, long ones (250Km+) solo and group rides with my club Brussels Big Brackets, as well as the Paris Roubaix challenge 145Km sportive this year. All made better, and easier, on my LOVELY RIDE 😍
I built my dream bike this year: No22 Great Divide with the de-coupler option. Dura Ace 9200 wireless with the C36 wheels, disc brakes, PM, Darimo T1 seatpost, Darimo bars/stem and for the icing on the bike cake: Ti fenders that match the frame. Tips the scale at 17.3lbs, as the de-coupler adds only 150g! Total cost topped a few K over your build, but is my travel bike for many years to come. The hardshell travel case is small enough to be regular checked luggage too.
The bike with the decal, "Sweet Dream"= 1999 polished LiteSpeed Ultimate. Campagnolo: 1991 Delta brakes, 1997 Record Ti shift levers, RD and seatpost, 2007 Shamal gold wheels. Dura-Ace: 1998 (25th anniversary) Headset & FD, 2007 crankset and pedals. Toped with 2007 Brooks Swift saddle & leather tape. Polished Ibis Ti stem. 1978 SunTour stainless cable housing. - It is a beautiful work of art.
I built a new bike including 28c carbon Elite wheels, Hyyge aero frame 105 12 speed mechanical with Miche 14~ 30 cassette 34 53 chainrings that I up graded from 50 because it changes so well. Carbon 360 bars carbon seat and cranks. 8.6kg all for NZD $3,300. Love it.
Fair enough. I promise I’ll love it even more if I can take it off your hands for a tenner. And the creep who steals it when I stop for coffee will do so because he’s an art lover at heart.
and here I was thinking the bike was going to be the prize in a GCN competition! Beautiful build that is here one day and disappeared into the aether the next...
I seriously wouldn’t know what to do with a bike like that. I’d be too scared to ride it anywhere for fear of being nicked (even leaving at home!) and insurance costs would be astronomical
Collected my dream bike over 2 seasons. A Specialized Allez sprint Sagan Superstar, 105/Rotor power meter, Specialized aero bar and 60 mm Mavic 🙂 Love it, but ready for aomething new 😊
What an amazing machine. It would be cool to do some videos with different budgets, maybe 5k 10k and 15k with no limits on what deals you're allowed to get etc.
Eric, my dream bike was a 1987 Schwinn Tempo, combination of Shimano 600 and Sante' drive train and MA40 rims. $1000.00 US. Simplicity and perfection and an amazing ride. Money left over for a Hawaiian Vacation.
Great video, I love Alex’s enthusiasm and passion for his riding and his builds, but it does raise a question, do any of us have a dream bike build or do we dream of owning an off the shelf bike which already has the groupset we want? I know we all tweak our bikes, changing wheels, tyres, saddles and cassettes but these are generally based around a bike we want that just needs a bit of tinkering. Other than building frankenbikes out of what we have available does anyone dream of a building a superbike from scratch?
It's like a Pagani Utopia. Built to be absolutely gorgeous and perform as good as it looks! I think we all strive to have a cool bike (or car/motorbike etc) that gets as close to personal perfection possible within our meager budgets. Love these builds!
I've upgraded two of my bikes (one hardtail and one full sus Mountain Bikes) The hardtail Ibought for £500, the full sus I bought for £1600 in the sales. Put better tyres and wheel sets and drive train. The hardtail cost (including purchase) is about £1150. The full sus is about £3500 (including purchase) it's as good as carbon wonder bikes, just as fast and capable as any comparative bike. Costs, a bit less than off the shelf but better components. Oh and it'll last, I chose solid parts rather than fancy! - and all manual.
To achieve their own the bikes I own I have built and and spec’d myself to what was both affordable and practical- and they bring a smile and grin every time I go out on them - if the mega cash and splurge makes you happy then so be it - I do agree everyone ( cycling enthusiasts) should at least build a bike for themselves and tailor it to themselves ( making it a 1 of 1 ) bespoke to them - they will totally appreciate and enjoy the sport/hobby more - #keep calm and build bikes😊
As someone that has rebuilt bikes versus owning stock. I definitely feel more connected to bikes that I personally stripped down/bought frameset only amd build it up. There's something special when you pick and install all the parts.
I'm glad Alex got to build his dream bike. It is nothing like what I would have done, but that's the beauty of it: a perfectly personalized build. Kudos!
@@gcntech my dream bike is one in which I can carry my 3yo daughter to the park. The child seat I was using applied a ton of leverage on the seat tube and caused some damage on the frame, so I had to get rid of it. I miss riding with her. I'm a simple man with simple desires.
I built my Dream bike a Colnago C64, Sram Red with ENVE wheels, I love the bike. The problem is what next, while I'll never sell the C64, I'll always want another new bike
FYI, I recently bought a pro-owned, bright neon orange De Rose King XS from 2016, and it's all I ever wanted from a road bike. And it puts the same big grin on my face and I feel like its telling me to go out and ride it whenever it's light out 😂 The feeling really is amazing, even for a 1200 pound bike
I built a dream all Italian racing bike quite a few years ago. Only recently did I tell my parents how much I spent to build it (could have bought a nice car). Thing is, I am still riding it all these years later. So on a value basis, keeping me somewhat fit and happy. Paid for itself many years ago.
I built my dream bike, a Ti/Carbon Colnago CT2, wih Record, Campag Bullets (work better with the rim brakes). Whole thing for less than £2.5k. Frame and a lot of the parts were NOS, some bits were eBayed. Not sure I'd get a more satisfactory bike for another £15k. I might upgrade to an 11 Spd mechanical Record groupset, but won;t change anything else Oh, and it's 8.3Kg, 19 years old and still looks and rides great
This bike's price is soul crushing. Thos bike's beauty is eye watering. I've built a few "grail" bikes over the years, but they were all BMX bikes, and all built over the course of weeks, or months. Some over years, as I upgraded parts. Of all the wishes for the world, ending war, world hunger, etc. I would wish that each and every person would build thir personal grail bike for themselves. It can be done, if you adopt a long term approch, nad realize its a long term build. Itll make you the happiest youve been as an adult, since you got that first shiny bike under the tree at Christmas, or for your birthday ❤️ It just may solve a few world problems, along the way, too.
Looks beautiful. I'm on opposite side. Just got Triban for 620 euros. Putting new tires on and will convert it to tubeless. Probably first ride this weekend. Wonder if I'll have the same grin on my face.
I built something close to a dream bike (extremely modest compared to this one, but it's bought with real money). It's an old £400 ish mtb. Now tailored for carrying me and bikepacking equipment, it's close to £2000 total and has been on several adventures :) If i didn't have to pay for the components, I'd go for a frame with internal routing, stronger brakes, dynamo hub, maybe even a Pinion gearbox or Rohloff hub.
Talking wheels, Im my region the Campag Bora WTOs cost about the same as the Elite Wheels Helixs and because I enjoy niche parts which doesnt mean the most expensive, I went with the Helixs' all because zero people have them.
This is hilarious and so true based where you live. I see alot of carbon bikes especially canyon/trek/specialized but almost never see any expensive steel or titanium bikes. Steel bikes are extremely rare in my area. Makes me want to get one just to be unique.
I just built a Litespeed Ti with Ultegra Di2 12 speed rim brake and Zipp 404s. Not as fast as my Cannondale SystemSix Hi mod. But love the old school look with modern feel like "your" Sturdy.
I splurged for a custom steel Battaglin Portofino G with the same gruppo, Deda finishing kit, Garmin power pedals, and with Campy Levante wheels (cheaper than Boras, picked because they can take up to 40mm tyres). The total build is a fair amount cheaper than this, mainly because it’s steel, not titanium, but it’s still so expensive that I had to get insurance. Surprisingly, it’s lighter than your build at 7.5kg, probably because I’m small and light (172cm/61.2kg) and the bike is optimized for my size.
@gcntech Nice Build and thanks for the Video - Great to see how far Ti manufacturing has gotten with 3D printing. Maybe we see 3D printed Aero Ti Bikes soon? Would that even make sense? And one more important question: Which glasses are you wearing in this video @Alex? They look very nice!
Sturdy Cycles are engineering and artistic masterpieces, on the level of Porsche by Singer. Your bike is stunning. Would be perfect with a Sturdy titanium crankset. Also, the bar tape should be black.
I feel like i would have liked seeing Mavic wheels or something to effect of Cormia, but i know there are more expensive or sought after solutions than that and its one of the best dreambuilds ive ever seen. Hill climb off when?
you know what i like most about this is the rear wheel fixture to the frame, love that flush finish, the alloy with the titanium finish, i have to say...... thought it would be lighter, but i guess that's titanium for you. on a negative note, annoyingly if it got stolen that dumb dumbs would probably sell it for £200 at a push and certainly a £100 not knowing what they have which is just heartbreaking it certainly is a dream build that many many could not possibly be able to afford,
I came to the conclusion that my 7,9 kg bike was a pig, so now I have a 6,4 kg one. I spent about a thousand pounds on this "new" bike. Spending an extra 16 thousand for the titanium feel and the disc brake feel (nicer feel but less power than my rim brakes) is fine if money is irrelevant, but the weight gain makes it a somewhat eccentric option.
You should have a look at the french titanium brand Cykl. They have similar bikes and can do similar builds for cheaper and lighter. They have the RAAVE-R-MK-II
So true, now I have a more modern bike with hydraulic disc brake, Ultegra Di2, pricier frame and carbon wheels... It's a "Specialized Roubaix Expert 2019" yet it must be easily 15lbs or at the very most 17lbs, 10,000$CAD but my "Cannondale Supersix Evo 2012" on rim brake and narrow tubular wheels was only 13.00lbs!!! Not even legal for UCI 😮 Yet it cost me twice less than my actual bike. I don't know why bike these days got so much more expensive, yet heavier.
Well I did something abit similar, a van nicholas frame, campagnolo centaur sliver finish mavic open 4 11 speed amazing bike and it didn't cost anything like that great bike
What a cool build! I must hurt the heart a bit to deconstruct it though. That said, I do get a giant smile on my face on my bike that is a fraction of that price.
My dream bike came about during a dream trip. In 2014 I drove to Tuscany and was measured for a custom Tommasini steel bike by the master himself (espresso included!). I then went on to be a spectator at each stage of the Tour de Romandie in Switzerland before heading home. A few months later the frame was done and was built up with alloy 11-speed Campagnolo parts and a pantographed quill stem. The bike, with gorgeous stainless lugs and a perfect paint finish, still gets positive comments and is a pure pleasure to ride. Having met the people who actually made it and the memories from that trip are priceless!
would love to know why you chose the 48/32 - 10/29 combo on the chainrings and casette. Thinking about getting a 48/32 myself but as i'm mostly riding on the flat roads i'm not yet sure if it is the right choice
I'm about to build my first road bike. I found a cube Aerium with a bent wheel in a skip. I have checked the frame, its fine. So, im gonna rebuild it, and do enter the london to Brighton. I can tell you now, its not gonna be 17k though! 😂
I'm bummed you had to give it all back. It would have been fun to see you pull up to all the GCN rides in that bike! You would probably need to bring a towel with you to wipe off all of Ollie's drool each time he saw it.
hi mortigard ollie already road a campagnolo record group set maybe a year ago. can't remember exactly. i would have liked him to compair it to the dura ace stuff!
If you want CULT bearings on a beautiful wheel that is light enough, very fast, and rock solid, look at Fulcrum Racing Zero. Campy owns Fulcrum, and you are looking at the highest end of their technology for a more affordable price. Trickle down works.
Now that you’ve built a high end dream bike that none of us can afford now build a cheap bike using Ali Express parts. Use the cheapest parts you can find then review if the bike is worth the effort. Now that is something I could get behind. Btw you guys do great vids. Thanks.
That’s the best bike GCN has ever reviewed. Finally some decent frame materials. Not that plastic stuff. 😍 However! If you have bought a titanium bike from Litespeed it would be considerably lighter and much less expensive. But hay, at least you got the materials right. 🙂👍🏻
I'm not sure if your hesitation around the price is a good or bad thing...if it were a car it would be a bargain, but then at the same time remembering it's just a bike is what keeps cyclists grounded and prevents bike manufacturers from bending us over the marketing/financing barrel like the car industry
I was hoping you’d have the bike autographed by as many Giro riders as possible and auction it off for charity or an otherwise good cause such as reviving GCN+ or making its original content available here.
Sturdy Fiadh - you have a Sturdy? I have a Surly - garden variety 4130 chromoly - sadly no titanium in sight (and no carbon fiber either) - ten years old this year.
I built a dream bike like that but with slightly more affordable options. Lynskey Ti frame with Campagnolo Record 12 Disc and home built wheels of carbon rims on White Industries hubs. It got a Super Nice on your show and it’s incredible to ride. Roughly 1/3 the cost of the one in this video. It was fun to slowly acquire the parts as I could afford them, staying true to the vision, and the continued satisfaction is totally worth it. ✌️
My guess in the previous video was £18,336.52 ($23,000). Had most of it right, but I added extra for what I was hoping would be a last-minute swap to Campagnolo’s HPPM Power Meter (plus an apparent discount for the white bar tape given how some folks here seem to object to it).
@@chrismadge7292I have, and in fact it was inspired by this channel a couple of years ago. All-in it was about $5000 versus $23,000. I guess I don’t dream that big. But I love it.
@@chrismadge7292Thought I responded to this, but I guess I never sent it. What I said was yes, except it cost about $5,000 as opposed to ~$21,000, and that it was inspired by this very channel. I deeply love the bike.
ive got to say i did build one. my bike is a beautiful piece of art. my problem is it's very uncomfortable to ride any distance. because of you guys at GCN ive learned i need to have a professional set it up for me. i want to send pics of it to ollie but after ollie got his pinarello and you just trashed his idea/concept i really don't want the get the same treatment for my idea for my toy. it was very expensive for a bicycle. it wasn't quite 17K but it wasn't far off that mark. it has a campagnolo record group set. it shifts just so smooth. no slop what so ever. a guy i use to ride with got a road bike with dura ace and i road his and compaired to mine and there just isn't any comparison between the two. i just need to have a pro set mine up. mine is just painful to ride over fifteen miles. it's still a beautiful piece of art.
What exactly is the problem that you need a pro for. Wrong saddle? Thin bar tape? Too much pressure in the tires? Or (most likely) wrong frame size? Sounds sad to have such an expensive bike that is only good for looking at it.
Sounds like you put lipstick on a pig if you can’t even ride it 15 miles💄🐷. You sound exactly like the sort of customer the bike brands loved during the COVID boom. Now you’re a unicorn 🦄
if i knew what was wrong i would have already fixed it. bar tape isn't the problem, tire pressure isn't the problem. it's something i did when setting everything up.
@@steveherring8494 get it on a turbo, film yourself and set it up yourself making small incremental changes until you get it dialled in 💯. E.g saddle height set it up roughly with heal unclipped on peddle. Loads of vids on YT to help you fit it yourself.
Loving the finished build. A shame the naysayers, knuckle draggers and price-complainers will never get the concept behind it even though you explained. Loving the big-gear rookie error at the end too... 🤣🤣🤣

Yep total waste! Why spend all that money on a disc brake bike
Wow that is a flashy build! 😍 how is it to ride?
Love it.
I smile every day I go for a ride on my $600 Cannondale. 😁 I always tell my bike how happy it has made me. 😍 Glad you had fun and I enjoyed watching!
I do what you do. Now I know there are two of us.
It's not about price it's all about how much you love the bike 🙌
Fair enough. I promise I’ll love it even more if I can take it off your hands for a tenner.
And the creep who steals it when I stop for coffee will do so because he’s an art lover at heart.
and here I was thinking the bike was going to be the prize in a GCN competition! Beautiful build that is here one day and disappeared into the aether the next...
Me too. Especially with the teaser we will talk about what happens next latter!
Hahahaha wouldn't that have been nice! 🤣
I seriously wouldn’t know what to do with a bike like that. I’d be too scared to ride it anywhere for fear of being nicked (even leaving at home!) and insurance costs would be astronomical
Collected my dream bike over 2 seasons. A Specialized Allez sprint Sagan Superstar, 105/Rotor power meter, Specialized aero bar and 60 mm Mavic 🙂 Love it, but ready for aomething new 😊
Great video, gorgeous bike.. Thanks Alex.
What an amazing machine. It would be cool to do some videos with different budgets, maybe 5k 10k and 15k with no limits on what deals you're allowed to get etc.
That's a cool idea! Dream budget builds... what would you do with 5k?
Eric, my dream bike was a 1987 Schwinn Tempo, combination of Shimano 600 and Sante' drive train and MA40 rims. $1000.00 US. Simplicity and perfection and an amazing ride. Money left over for a Hawaiian Vacation.
That bike is rad. I love the direction you chose. Campagnolo and a TI bike. Not just going for gram counting like most other dream builds.
It's about the full package 👌 This bike hits the spot 🙌
That was a beautiful bike, love the look , design and ethos behind it. The choice of titanium for almost everything was excellent, love titanium !
Other than building frankenbikes out of what we have available does anyone dream of a building a superbike from scratch?
exactly the build i wanted to see
I get so bored hearing "omg gcn is so out touch, do more budget stuff" from the comments.
They do heaps of that and it's not always entertaining!
It's like a Pagani Utopia. Built to be absolutely gorgeous and perform as good as it looks! I think we all strive to have a cool bike (or car/motorbike etc) that gets as close to personal perfection possible within our meager budgets. Love these builds!
Yes, my dream bike was/is a custom built 2007 Casati Vola with Campy 10spd Chorus at $7004.52 USD (now 11spd Chorus). Still going strong.
Kudos!
thanks for the comment! What's your dream bike? Cheers!
@@gcntech my dream bike is one in which I can carry my 3yo daughter to the park. The child seat I was using applied a ton of leverage on the seat tube and caused some damage on the frame, so I had to get rid of it. I miss riding with her. I'm a simple man with simple desires.
@@Frostbiker Thats a lovely reply mate, cheers to you!
That's super cool! A bike that makes smile it amazing 🙌
This is the dream. Love the stem and forks!! I did a similar thing when rim brakes were still the thing and now I feel robbed. 😢
I built a dream all Italian racing bike quite a few years ago. Only recently did I tell my parents how much I spent to build it (could have bought a nice car). Thing is, I am still riding it all these years later. So on a value basis, keeping me somewhat fit and happy. Paid for itself many years ago.
We love this! It's so cool when you get a bike for life 🙌
@@gcntech "Bike for life." Nice encapsulation. Very positive.
I bought a titanium NOS for $2000 Canadian. Weighs 8.3kg without pedals. Feeling pretty good about that right now. I sure love titanium.
Great to see Campag kit. Those wheels are DREAMY.
Thank to Campag for making this dream possible! They made Alex very happy 🤣
Ignore the price it’s beautiful 🤩… do more with campagnolo they are the best groupset manufacturers ❤
I might upgrade to an 11 Spd mechanical Record groupset, but won;t change anything else
Oh, and it's 8.3Kg, 19 years old and still looks and rides great
This bike's price is soul crushing.
Itll make you the happiest youve been as an adult, since you got that first shiny bike under the tree at Christmas, or for your birthday ❤️
It just may solve a few world problems, along the way, too.
Now tailored for carrying me and bikepacking equipment, it's close to £2000 total and has been on several adventures :)
If i didn't have to pay for the components, I'd go for a frame with internal routing, stronger brakes, dynamo hub, maybe even a Pinion gearbox or Rohloff hub.
Also, the bar tape should be black.
beautiful bike. Enjoy those few days riding whilst you have it!
I feel like i would have liked seeing Mavic wheels or something to effect of Cormia, but i know there are more expensive or sought after solutions than that and its one of the best dreambuilds ive ever seen. Hill climb off when?
What a build, the nicest bike I've ever seen 🤤
you know what i like most about this is the rear wheel fixture to the frame, love that flush finish, the alloy with the titanium finish,
i have to say...... thought it would be lighter, but i guess that's titanium for you.
on a negative note, annoyingly if it got stolen that dumb dumbs would probably sell it for £200 at a push and certainly a £100 not knowing what they have which is just heartbreaking
it certainly is a dream build that many many could not possibly be able to afford,
Titanium vibrates and gives a nice pinging, singing sound over the road 🤩
I came to the conclusion that my 7,9 kg bike was a pig, so now I have a 6,4 kg one. I spent about a thousand pounds on this "new" bike. Spending an extra 16 thousand for the titanium feel and the disc brake feel (nicer feel but less power than my rim brakes) is fine if money is irrelevant, but the weight gain makes it a somewhat eccentric option.
You should have a look at the french titanium brand Cykl. They have similar bikes and can do similar builds for cheaper and lighter. They have the RAAVE-R-MK-II
Looks a beautiful bike, the best group set on it campagnolo. Great video 😃👍
Campy just has a certain class to it 👌
Remember when we used to have rim brakes and you could build a bike that weighed a kilo less than this bike for around £2k?
Rim what? Never heard of them 😉
Weight is a bit irrelevant really. If you wanted a super light bike, you wouldn’t be choosing Titanium
@a1white weight is a bit irrelevant really? Yet at around 4 minutes 20 Alex weighs the bike and says "pretty light"
@@anthonykidd6595 pretty light for titanium yes, but if he was going for lightness over everything else, he’d obviously have picked carbon
I kept waiting for you to show us the seat post\mast or whatever is going on there.
Loved it. Thoroughly enjoyed!! ❤️❤️✌🏾
That's a beautiful bike. I enjoy seeing nice bikes, even they are out of my price range.
Us too! So cool ot see how far you can push those dream builds 🤤
daamn, now THAT'S an absolutely drool-worthy ride!! pragmatic and exotic.
those metal water bottles, however, are a fly in the ointment.
Not a fan of the the matching frame and bottles?
@@gcntech What frame size is that? Looks like a 54?
Well I did something abit similar, a van nicholas frame, campagnolo centaur sliver finish mavic open 4 11 speed amazing bike and it didn't cost anything like that great bike
pretty mad build considering that di ultegra is SO GOOD
What a cool build! I must hurt the heart a bit to deconstruct it though. That said, I do get a giant smile on my face on my bike that is a fraction of that price.
Lovely build. If you enjoy riding it, and you have the budget then it’s worth every penny. Like buying a Ferrari, it’s a passion purchase.
Nice bike,
The Last Legend By bertoletti i have sold is 7kg9 and cost nearly 3 times less with New Duraace ;)
Interesting garage, seems to be keeping the Italian theme going in the background. I bet a few of them have Campagnolo wheels.
My focus Cayo weighed 8 kilos and $2700 when I got it and it rides amazing
My „final bike“ will be titanium too someday… not caring about weight, but longevity and the awesome look…
Love the set up
My dream bike came about during a dream trip.
You would probably need to bring a towel with you to wipe off all of Ollie's drool each time he saw it.
hi mortigard ollie already road a campagnolo record group set maybe a year ago. can't remember exactly. i would have liked him to compair it to the dura ace stuff!
the bar stem front end is amazing
Pretty special right 👌
If you want CULT bearings on a beautiful wheel that is light enough, very fast, and rock solid, look at Fulcrum Racing Zero. Campy owns Fulcrum, and you are looking at the highest end of their technology for a more affordable price. Trickle down works.
That is a classically beautiful bike.
However! If you have bought a titanium bike from Litespeed it would be considerably lighter and much less expensive. But hay, at least you got the materials right. 🙂👍🏻
Have you ever heard a brand of Ti bike called T&K? I think their frame is gorgeous.
'drooling sounds' Aaaahhh, classic geometry.
Great vid.. Impressive build but my steel bikes are lighter.. and I love riding them.. my dream builds 😍 Campagnolo to.. chorus.. Pete 😃👍🚴🏻
That frame is really nice, I'm really starting to warm up to titanium
1:16 Wow, even more beautiful in the light of day
I'm not sure if your hesitation around the price is a good or bad thing...if it were a car it would be a bargain, but then at the same time remembering it's just a bike is what keeps cyclists grounded and prevents bike manufacturers from bending us over the marketing/financing barrel like the car industry
absolutely love the frame and fork! Also who's garage and team car is that its amazing!
Rear campa mech looks horrible), nice bike though
World's most valuable bicycle, IMHO.
The Molteni Colnago Eddy rode over the line on the final stage of the 1974 Tour de France.
How much would you pay for it?
My guess in the previous video was £18,336.52 ($23,000). Had most of it right, but I added extra for what I was hoping would be a last-minute swap to Campagnolo’s HPPM Power Meter (plus an apparent discount for the white bar tape given how some folks here seem to object to it).
Have you built a dream bike, or just built the most expensive bike you could?
😂😂😂 you spent nearly 17k on a bike which is painful to ride 15+ miles on 🤯
Sounds like you put lipstick on a pig if you can’t even ride it 15 miles💄🐷.
Very beautiful. Congrats. Looks like a titanium Orbea orca. The only thing i dont like are the bottles.
Beautiful Alex, but white bar tape really is a no, no, you need some colour there!
Loving the finished build. A shame the naysayers, knuckle draggers and price-complainers will never get the concept behind it even though you explained.
Loving the big-gear rookie error at the end too... 🤣🤣🤣
GCN comments section is the worst place on TH-cam. People should just enjoy the eye candy instead of jealous moaning
It's a amazing bike. I will never go back to a carbon bike again. Titanium is the ultimate material for a bike and will last a lifetime.
